Dallas has long DESERVED a dining and drinking spot like Sammy's and I am glad she finally got her reward. I enjoy sharing the experience of a great meal with folks, and take extreme pleasure recommending Sammy's here in my hometown. The space is well appointed and clean, the food is delicious, representing an excellent value, and the service is genuinely friendly and superbly skilled. Somehow the management team here (Kudos, Graham and Holly) has managed to secure a mix of seasoned hospitality professionals (Hi Jessica & Rebekah!) and eager young bucks/does (Yo Bryson & Rebecca) to perform Sammy's front of the house magic. My earliest memories of Dallas' town square are of visiting Mary Jo's cloth store with my grandmother way back in the early 1970's. How well I remember the black smoke of the fire that took May Jo's away in the 80's. I saw the town struggle to find its footing for a couple of decades. It has taken a bit for dining tastes and local liquor laws to catch up with 21st Century Dallas . . but HERE WE ARE! I dined here three times before rendering my opinion, and all 3 meals were great! The fish & chips would satisfy the fussiest Englishman and the grilled salmon was flakey and moist as it should be. While I enjoyed a flavorful duo of pork chops and fresh yellows squash, my poker buddy Johnny heartily endorsed his mixed trio of tacos. (It was Tuesday, of course!) The iced tea is fresh-brewed and available sweet as Providence would have it poured, unsweetened for the Philistines among us, and diluted as necessary for the rest. (The java I am enjoying now with my strawberry compote-topped cheesecake is also freshly brewed.) Upstairs is a separate dining room which might easily accommodate your own private functions, while out back, there's a non-smoking deck fitted with umbrella-sheltered tables for enjoying our mild Carolina seasons. On my last trip here, a bustling Friday night in mid-October, this joint was hopping with a welcoming crowd of cops, couples, bankers, singles and families. All having a fine meal (again at a price point for VALUE) and ENJOYING the experience. Sammy's is located on the town square, right across from the Old Dallas Courthouse. It seems to me a trial of sorts would be appropriate now. Allow me to summarize the case for YOU to judge: for food, eclectic hometown crowd, welcoming atmosphere, and stellar service in Dallas, Sammy's is where it's at! What more evidence do YOU need, folks? My verdict? 10s across the board! (Even the East German judge!) Thank you Colonel . . . err, I mean Jim Bailey, proprietor.

The service is great …buuuttttt…. Here’s my reason for 3 stars. We love Sammy‘s in Belmont and go there quite often. Lately I’ve had to spend some time in Dallas, so I have gone to that location, Sammy‘s, for dinner twice. The first time my three--year-old‘s cheeseburger was so raw I had to send it back, and now, this is their example of a medium well burger. It was takeout for my son so I couldn’t take it back and just happened to look at it now that he’s halfway through. I think there needs to be a discussion on meat temps.

Great food and good service, 2nd visit, ate in dining room area, had the ribeye, had to recook it to medium but was very good, garlic knots were also very good , met Jim the owner, before I had the blackened salmon and it was cooked perfect , salad was a great portion although I would have preferred it before the food , drinks and drink prices were good , hope to be back soon , thank you!

Sammy's pub in Dallas. Ate there for the second time. First time was a fine 8oz Angus burger, along with an order of wings. It was cooked perfectly. The wings were a flavorful Buffalo sauce without being drenched, and not to hot. The restaurant offers different sauces. An overall great lunch. This time, it was a late dinner. I tried one of their dinner plates. I had the Pork chops. Received two perfectly grilled pork chops. They were just the right thickness. Very flavorful, only thing that was needed was possibly a bit more heat to the slight rim of fat to crisp it. Along with the chops were two sides included.. I chose a salad and seasonal vegetables. Vegetable of the day was green beans. Green beans had a perfect flavor with the addition of a bit of onion. Salad was a reasonable size for side salad, containing onion, fresh lettuce, diced tomato, and a bit of cheese with your choice if dressing on the side. The unsweetened was plentiful, and good flavor with no bitterness. The coffee could use a bit of help, a little on the weak side and I don't do cream nor sugar in it.. The service was excellent on both occasions. Wait staff was on top of every request and empty glass. Lunch greeter was friendly and great, even suggested a walk around of the historic building. [The place is built with the walls of a fortress, retaining the old exterior brick work while creating a modern interior for one's dining pleasure] The host of the evening seemed to take a bit of offense that I wanted a booth instead of a table. It was slow so he did agree to seating me at a booth. Overall, this was an excellent meal and my fat body will be visiting...

Slow service and Rude manager ! It was only my second visit here . My first wasn’t that great but I was next door at the bakery with my grand daughter . We were both hungry so we went In to Sammy’s . What we ordered wasn’t that great then I got our bill and noticed I was being charged a a higher price for each meal on the ticket including my salad which already had an up charge . When I ask my server about it her response was well If you don’t have cash It cost more . I understand a lot of restaurants will add additional charge of the total bill If you don’t have cash . Charging an additional charge for each meal and even the salad which was already an up charge . I was kinda taken back and the waitress offered to get the manager and I said no It’s fine I just want be back . The manager brought my bill out and preceded to explain that all restaraunts do that and I said no sir they don’t ! They post signs saying to use debit there is a 3 percent sub charge to the total bill . Not an up charge on each meal you order that’s just false advertising and cheating people on their bill . I always look at my bill he was just mad cause he didn’t get over on me . He was out right rude to me and I never ask to talk to him . I was over It and wasn’t that impressed anyways but the way they done me on my bill rubbed me the wrong way ! I want ever step foot back in that place !Its over priced and overrated .. slow service with a rude manager .. the foods not that great either !!! If you decide to eat here you better have cash or the menu price goes up not just a sub charge on your total bill It’s each item...
