I'm probably going to be hated for this review but it is an honest review from a foodie. As soon as I heard about this bakery we knew we had to try it. My family and I are also foodies and my dad is super fan of hispanic bread. So we entered the restaurant, concept and feel was all on point, VERY IMPRESSIVE. So proud of the owner for looking out at all the details, even the fact that they had a signature fabric to their uniforms, and sold tea towels, beautiful. The bread and pastries were VERY pricey but hey, I thought if they use the best ingredients, they must be worth it! We tried the concha, pan de queso, the apple tart, and Pain Au Chocolat and some coffees. The service from the host to the waiters was spectacular but the cashiers were a grumpy. Let's dive into the bread: Pan de Queso: Presentation was awesome! Didn't have a hint of cheese, it was just cooked dough with sugar😞 Pain Au Chocolate: Presentation, great! Was not offered heated and the chocolate was in a form of a bar so the experience was not so pleasant.. Lamination was there but I could have gotten the same quality at Whole Foods. Butter, commercial butter not good quality butter. I don't recall the price on this one but it was at least $3, not worth the price. 😣 Apple Tart: Presentation, great! Descent and by descent lamination was good but again the butter wasn't great quality and the apples needed a little more caramelization. $4 almost $5 dollars with tax, totally not worth the price!😏 Concha: This was perhaps also the most visibly disappointing. I have never seen such a small concha. Taste, same, just flower with sugar, nothing great. El Rancho has equal quality of conchas.
Three coffees took 20 minutes to make, it was clear the baristas were having a moment, it happens, no big deal, we were looking forward to tasting it all. But all the coffees were super small and were super sweet.
In summary, great concept, congrats to the owner for nailing it but the quality of the product and quality of ingredients need to be improved drastically to live up to the expectations and clientele here in...
Read moreA Disappointing Dining Experience, But The Pastries Are Worth It
Today, my wife and I decided to visit a local restaurant that had been highly recommended for its bakery offerings. While we were excited to try the pastries, the dining experience left much to be desired. Here's a recap of our visit:
We arrived around 11 a.m. on a busy day, and despite the rush, we had no issues with waiting for a table. After about 45 minutes, we were seated, and the host greeted us warmly, which was a great start. The pastries were the real draw for us, so we were eager to dive into the menu and enjoy our meal.
Unfortunately, the service fell short. Our server didn’t introduce themselves, nor did they guide us through the menu or ask if it was our first visit. These small details can make a huge difference in a dining experience, and it was clear that the personal touch was lacking.
After being seated, it took nearly 20 minutes before our drinks arrived—and they were wrong. At that point, we were already starting to lose patience, but we decided to push through. We placed our food order, and when it finally arrived, we were disappointed to find that it was cold. While the food itself was decent, it was clear that if it had been served at the right temperature, it would have been a much better experience.
To make matters worse, our server hardly checked in on us, and a busser noticed us waiting patiently and notified the server. It was frustrating to feel overlooked, especially considering the establishment’s reputation. The over all team work lacked. Servers around us noticed but did not assist .
Despite these service issues, we have to give credit where it's due—the pastries were exceptional. Fresh, flavorful, and worth the wait, they truly lived up to the hype. In the future, we might skip the restaurant experience entirely and just grab pastries to go.
Overall, while the bakery side of the business is top-notch, the restaurant service needs improvement. We left feeling disappointed by the meal but still grateful for the...

“Lo Cortez no quita lo valiente” I being planing my 40th birthday for 3 weeks I made the reservation, order the cake for 40 people and I talked early September to an amazing lady that helped to do all this.
To my surprise today we went there and the supervisor alberto Rocha wasn’t welcoming or accommodating I can actually say he was rude an made my night the worst for all my family and friends because he made the evening a bad memory.
We have being good customers for years in the downtown location and we even hold parties like this there with no trouble with big parties and separate bills.
This person “alberto Rocha” was being laughing at me and talking bad and having a bad attitude with us ( my husband and me )
The food is great like always, the waiters where also very polite but unfortunately the supervisor was not suited for that position in this occasion.
I hope this review is to get better because we have being customers for years in Dallas and we love to keep this feeling even though I won’t have another 40th birthday birthdate.
Kind...
