Kent James Salon — Local services in Addison

First of all, I have been a loyal customer of Kent's for over ten years. No one has ever been able to do the things he does to my thick, yet baby fine, curly ash blond hair. He can highlight it using high-lift color without damaging it, creating stunningly beautiful effects. And the cut? Always perfect. I go in to the salon a 'curly girl' and come out a blond blown-out diva! If you have curly hair, you know exactly what I mean!

I have had people stop me out in public just to ask me who does my hair and do I have their number on me. To me that is the ultimate complement. Anyone who can color high-lift highlights, then blown out my hair and it is healthier than when we started? An absolute world-class master stylist in my book. I have seen fresh styles/color done in Italy that didn't look this good.

Further, the person who posted that shameful review because her 'groupon' or coupon or whatever wasn't honored by a contracted employee? Do yourself a favor, and completely disregard that review (except maybe the fact that when you expect something for next to nothing, that's what you get), because it doesn't reflect on the salon as a whole, simply a contracted stylist who acted without honor.

Had this individual used logic, the situation would have been handled in a manner that have would have left her a happy person and likely a loyal Kent James client for life. I would have suggested a better approach, and that would have been that after she found that this Enrique wouldn't honor the published deal she found, she should have contacted Kent James himself...the owner of the salon?...the one who can make decisions?...and alert him to the situation. Even if the groupon only had the contractor's cell phone number, Kent James Salon is listed in all directories...I know because I checked prior to writing this review.

I've known Kent for a long time, and I can assure you had he known of this situation, and even though he was not the responsible party who printed the coupon, he would have booked her into his own chair (and at her convenience) and given her twice the service and value that she could have ever expected in any situation, just to make it right. Her attitude and approach only short-changed herself.

If you are on the fence and trying to decide whether to try them or not...jump. It will be the best thing you ever did...

I recently had a cut and color (first visit) with Kent James and from the moment I walked in until the moment I left, I felt so welcomed and taken care of. The entire staff is so friendly and helpful, not to mention incredible stylists. I had been going to the same stylist for so many years and was very hesitant about switching once I moved, but all those concerns were gone in an instant when I met Kent. He takes the time to really go over things with you, find out what you're wanting, and gives his ideas and suggestions which I loved. He is a true professional and so talented, I knew I was in good hands! I always love a place where you can tell they are at the top of their game, yet it's such a comfortable, relaxed environment....like you're spending time with good friends. There are many salons out there, but with most of the higher end salons, it's tough to get through all the pretentiousness to even notice their quality and customer service. I found NONE of that at this salon, quite the opposite in fact. I'm in a client/customer service industry myself and place such a high value on that, with any business. From getting my appointment, to my time in the salon I was very impressed with their attention and focus on each client. They were busy but maintained a great flow and made sure everyone was taken care of. Kent did an amazing job on my hair, it feels and looks great! I will definitely be referring everyone to try them out. I know it's tough when trying to find your new "go to" salon, especially when you've been going to others for awhile....but I urge anyone that wants not only an incredible haircut and/or color but a wonderful experience overall to at least try the Kent James Salon. I did and I couldn't be happier! Thanks Kent....and everyone at the salon! I'll be seeing you...

I swear I never write reviews but I feel compelled to gush that 5 stars is an understatement! There is not enough room to go over all of my experience with salons in Dallas through the years, always the "best-of-the-best", which I couldn't afford but made it happen in the hopes someone would really take into account the lengthy explanations on my hair history and tendencies, etc., the pictures of exactly what I was looking for, etc. I would leave with a smile, cry at some point after the fact, and call within a week to schedule another costly appointment for a 2nd try. It became exhausting & at some point I gave up & resorted to "the box" God forbid. Fast forward & I now live 2.5 hrs away from Dallas & came across the rave reviews about Kent and his Glamour magazine accolade and decided to take the plunge and even make the lengthy drive to see him. I did what I had never done before when I sat in his chair. I QUICKLY told him my hair story & wants & said I was turning it over to him. I even said I would let him cut it however he wanted, which I have never done. I am the girl that is always growing it longer and a trim is the end of the world. Maybe it is the calm and confidence that Kent exudes that brought it out in me. Who knows & who cares?!? He is a genius. Even without all of the pictures and explanations I got exactly what I've been asking for all along but never getting. It was such a wonderful experience to have a true artist work wonders on my hair and I left in awe of him and his lovely salon and staff, all who were sweethearts and who you could tell loved their jobs and loved being part of the Kent James team of professionals. Don't waste your time and money on anywhere else. Kent James is...
