My wife and I were excited to visit Liam's Steakhouse for her birthday, but after our recent experience, we won't be returning.
Upon arriving, I gave my name for the reservation, but the staff couldn’t find it, despite me having booked through their website and confirming via both text and email. Multiple staff members checked, and after several minutes, they still couldn’t locate the reservation. We didn't get the booth we had specifically booked, and there was no apology for the inconvenience. Instead, we were seated 10 minutes later without any acknowledgment of their mistake.
My wife ordered a 16oz medium-rare ribeye steak with truffle fries, and I requested just the same steak. When our server, Kevin, brought the food, he insisted we cut into the steak to check its temperature, but the lighting was so dim we could barely see. To make matters worse, the steak was cold. Not wanting to spoil my wife's birthday, I reluctantly ate mine, but my wife couldn’t finish hers due to how cold it was. We waited for Kevin to return, but he never checked on us. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, it took a while to get another staff member's attention to warm up her steak. It tasted much better afterward, but the experience had already soured.
When we asked for the check, I noticed we were charged for two orders of fries, even though only one was ordered. Kevin removed the extra charge but acted as if he was doing us a favor. When I shared our disappointing experience with him—mentioning the lost reservation, lack of a booth, his absence, and the fact that it was my wife’s birthday—he didn’t seem genuinely apologetic.
I’m left wondering if the poor service was due to our being Muslim or because the gratuity was automatically set at 20%.
