Family Thais is a clever name, I'll give them that. Honestly, I chose this place because it was about the only eatery I could find in the West End that has a wheelchair-friendly entrance. (So much for the ADA.) But, FTs has a full-fledged RAMP to their front door! I fully expected them to be centered around the Boba Tea they advertise on their sign, but it turned out to be a true dining spot. Once inside, it got a little tight for my power chair. But, the line to order was short (at ~5 PM). You order at one counter and pickup at another... not my favorite arrangement... I prefer table service. There appeared to be a lot of people picking up pre-orders. Still, not crowded. There is some room for dining in. Somehow, my order got confused and, not knowing what to expect for prices, I did not catch it when they charged me "double" ($28)... I got TWO orders of ginger stir fry with pork (and a can of Dr. P). (Yes... that would have been kinda pricey for one order, but I couldn't see the menu very well... didn't know the pricing. I plead "newbie".) Still not sure whose fault that was. But, it all worked out serendipitously in the end. I ate one there and had them box up the 2nd one to go. Now, I'm thinking about how nice it will be to have ginger stir fry plus pork tomorrow! Gosh, that stir fry was delicious! And fresh! Good mix and cuts of veggies. Pork in almost every bite! They had Sriracha as a condiment, along with soy sauce. And, it's a good thing, because even though I ordered the "Packs a Punch" level of spice (Level 3... there are 5 levels), it didn't taste all that spicy to me. I'm ordering Level 5 next time. (I admit my taste buds are old... 75.) The staff were friendly and helpful. The place looked clean and tidy, if a bit cramped. And looking back on it, the price was decent. And, since FTs is located right on the DART rail line between Lamar and Market Streets, I'm very happy to have finally tried them. I will definitely be back! Let the train wait on me. EDIT: Oh, rats! I see I accidentally included a photo of Macdonald's on Commerce. These eyes! Can't figure out how to delete it. Oh, well. And, I guess I can only add dish names when Maps asks me to. Learning. EDIT 11/12/21: Well, I went back. Had the shrimp stir fry... Level 5 heat... and Dirty Chai tea. 5 large shrimp, plus a tasty mix of veggies. Level 5 fits me perfectly. My tea!... what were those things that I sucked up my straw?... little cubes of dense gelatin? Strange at first... I thought of frog eggs. But, they morphed into an interesting and tasty treat. I'm not through with...

FOOD IG: @north.tx.gemz Overall Rating: 6/10 I’ve been wanting to go here for awhile now after discovering it from a Tik Tok I saw probably a few years ago. I only got one dish because it was just me for lunch. The food itself wasn’t bad at all and the variety of dishes and unique combinations stood out to me which I liked. However, the place itself was so dirty! Maybe they were short staffed but a lot of the tables were greasy and even then when I saw the guy wipe down the table the rag looked so disgustingly dirty and I’m not really picky with dirty places because they usually have the best food…. But this place was just really small and dirty and I couldn’t get over it. 😭 Another downside was the location. The typical downtown Dallas situation where you can park on the street for $1 or $10 in a close parking lot. I chose the $1 street parking which was my personal choice but it was a trek to walk all the way back over to this building and it’s kinda hidden when you drive by it and can only really see it when you’re walking. It’s also located right in front of the Dart train stop. There are a lot of pedestrians including homeless individuals so just be aware if you’re worried about that. Overall, decent Thai food, just super dirty restaurant, but it’s kinda hard to get into so wouldn’t recommend driving far to come here only if you’re...

I’ve had issues in the past with my order not being prepared correctly, repeatedly, but said issues were addressed by the owner and I thought issues were behind me.

Fast forward to 4/5/25 - I was on my lunch break at work. DoorDash had FTAB listed in their 30 mins or less category, so I made an order. (I work nearby in Downtown) And I waited. And waited. And waited. I watched in the DD app as one driver after another went to the restaurant, waited forever, and left, being replaced by another driver who does the same. This told me that the order was not ready. I called the restaurant and the lady who answered was very rude. I told her I’m waiting on an order and asked if it’s been prepared. She didn’t ask my name, she just blew me off saying she doesn’t have any online orders. So I waited.

Eventually it was picked up. The lady who delivered it said they didn’t start making it until long after she showed up. I waited a very long time for my order. It arrived long after the end of my lunch break.

This is unacceptable service from FTAB. In the past Tony gave me his # on a previous review, so I called him. No answer. I get it, we are all busy.

I was at work afterall, too.

At the end of the day, its about service. If you’re not able to effectively manage online delivery orders, why be on the...
