This is the cutest concept in Bishop Arts. It's a tiny boutique dessert place with a major twist. The entire concept is based on cereal. The boxed cereal we all grew up eating for breakfast every day. If you were lucky enough to have a mom hip enough to buy you the cool cereal. The reason you wanted to go grocery shopping with mom kind of cereal.
But the cereal is just the hook. The main line is the ice cream. They will blend any mix of toppings into some of the most delicious one cream you can legally find. Anything better than this delicacy would be deemed illegal. The sinker is Michael Cooke. Micheal is The. Best. Host. Like ever.
You have to go with this in mind: You are here for the experience. You are here for the novelty. You are here for the visual stimulation. You are here for the craving you knew you had but don't know you could manifest.
If you are lucky enough to experience Spelled Milk, do not walk in thinking it's just an ice cream parlor. You get to hang out in a bar-like setting, with the coolest crowd, and everyone is there for. the. cereal. And everyone here gets exactly what they want, because the Spelled Milk has it all.
I love to take my friends here and stand in front of the wall of a hundred different cereals. Boxes we grew up with, boxes from exotic countries, novelty boxes you wish you had in your pantry... The friends are always as enamored as I still am every time I stand in front of that wall.
And once you are lucky enough to get your order, you realize how worth the wait it was. You finally understand why all of those that waited ahead of you, that walked around in awe of the vast collection of the best munchy snacks anyone will ever witness, waited so patiently for their order.
And if you are wise and worldly, once your are served, you will stay in the gameroom, sit, and savor the most delicious manifestation of your deepest darkest craving you've ever imagined. You realize that if you think it, it will be.
Do not, *do NOT, not go to Spelled Milk. The longer you wait, the better it is.
Thank you Michael for the concept, your execution of the concept, and for being there, taking care of everyone, handing out bottles of water when there's a line, showing how much you love what you're doing for the Bishop...
Read moreFirst time I came here I drove an hour for a sweet treat. Michael, the owner, made me feel really special. He took special time to answer all the questions I had. He’s an awesome conversationalist. Me and my friend sat and played Banapples and Michael even brought us two complimentary bottles of water. He frequently checked on us to make sure everything was delicious, and it was. He really made us feel like actual VIPs. I told him next time that I was going to bring more people.
The second time I went I brought a bunch of friends. I walked 20 minutes in 9 inch heels from where the uber originally dropped us off just for this sweet delight. We arrived just 15 before close and I wasn’t sure how the energy was going to be. But Michael always seems delighted to have customers in his store. We were welcomed immediately. One of my friends has celiac disease but Michael was very informative on the VERY many gluten free options available! She ended up ordering a root beer float but Michael still gave her a small container of gluten free cereal for her to try on the house! My friend and Michael had very lovely conversation, as they are both business owners. It was long after closing at this point but at no point were we rushed to exit the establishment. Conversation was so free flowing that it was impossible to know just how much time had actually passed. Upon us leaving he made sure to let us know that we could wait for our ride inside the establishment, that our safety was of the utmost importance. Everyone needs a little bit of Michael in their life. I drove an hour and walked 20 minutes here, but this place is honestly worth driving 5 hours or more to. Be kind to Michael. He deserves love and respect...
Read moreThis is one of those super cool and niche places you run into probably a few times in your life. The Spelled Milk is a sweets shop that specializes in all things cereal, and is headed by the nicest and most passionate owner ever.
I came in here late night after a concert when my sister and I wanted something sweet. We could tell very quickly this was a once-in-a-blue-moon place. If you have a passion for cereal, THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO BE. They even had cereal imported from other countries!
We were pretty stumped by the extremely large menu when we first saw it, but eventually settled on two milkshakes with cereal blended in. They were both AMAZING. The size of the menu may be daunting but we could tell just from the two milkshakes that we had that you won't be disappointed. There is definitely thought behind each flavor combination.
The inside is just a cool place to hang out in general. There's a Super Nintendo, board games, and a bunch of mood lighting. Coming here with your friends will be an absolute blast I promise!
Please come here and give this amazing shop your support. Places like these are the kind of unique options we need to keep in business, because you won't find them...
