Grumpy Gary's at Dockers — Restaurant in Dania Beach

First time of many trips to come to Hollywood Beach! First stop in at Grumpy Gary's for a couple of drinks was a very pleasant experience! We decided to return that night for the live music of "Zorro". My friend and I were so excited to find a place we really enjoyed and were looking forward to a night of live music and yummy drinks ($15 a piece is what they cost). We arrived ready to mingle with people and enjoy a night at Grumpy Gary's when after standing for 20 mins the only table that opened up was a 6 top. We went to have a seat at this table when an EXTREMELY RUDE server named Chris had the audacity to approach us and ask us if we really planned to sit at his 6 top table and only 2 people in our party?!?! Then he proceeded to explain we already have drinks and aren't even going to order drinks!!!! He angrily walked away and my friend and I decided to walk away and decide to stay or leave. We found a small table outside away from the music we came to watch. Meanwhile were never approached by Chris who was waiting on all the other tables around us.After an half hour of getting our own drinks we were able to get a table ALSO inside in Chris section near the Live music. This table was a 4 top and two of us sat there next to the 6 top we were berated for attempting to sit at. It was us getting our own drinks at the bar while Chris continued to ignore us at another one of his tables. After a couple more drinks we got ourselves at the bar and the very unwelcoming feeling by Chris we decided it was time to depart and not return to what we renamed Grumpy Chris' establishment! So sad he ruined our night but we found another great place also with live music atleast tons of options to choose from on...

With Grumpy Gary's it's a hit and miss place. Sometimes the service is on-point & sometimes it's not. Typically you can get a decent burger there. Depending on the server at the table that you're at, THEY WILL OVERCHARGE you if you pay cash (not to mention server names to save embarrassment) I'd rather have a personal one-on-one conversation with the owner of the establishment of whom I've met several times with my husband while frequenting the establishment. Also I don't appreciate after paying a tab at Grumpy Gary's and the bartender holding my debit card hostage for more than 15 minutes when I would like to move on and carry on with the rest of my afternoon/evening and perhaps visit another establishment. And I would like to note that they were not busy at this time when I had unnecessarily wait for my debit card to be returned to me. The bartender was too busy taking new drink orders rather than settling up with me first. Perhaps the owner of grumpy Gary's needs to sit down and have a staff meeting with his employees to discuss the importance of customer service, especially with the local driven business at keeps the beach going year-round when season slows down. Nevertheless, what I've witnessed at Grumpy Gary's is unacceptable and is a "turn-off" whether it's to a "Local"or a "Snowbird" or someone visiting from "Another Country". This is totally appalling,and quite literally I'm shocked, for I have met the owner of Grumpy Gary's and he seems congenial enough, professional and genuine that you think he would want to run the right establishment with employees that reflect his behavior...

My son got the hamburger special for $10 was amazing! nice size...nice portions my daughter got the Philly cheese steak also great portions good size. I got the fish and chips special it was too small pieces of fish that were the size of a chicken strip but again for 10 bucks can't really complain but I feel like if they're just going to give you two like that it should be specified. The service was terrible I didn't get her name I wish I would have. I am a server and you start out with a 30% tip from me. my son and my daughter are tatted up and I was all in black. I know that some servers think oh great here we go. we all ordered water not because we were cheap but because we've been out in the sun all day and we're sunburned. We were brought water in tiny little plastic cups. At first we thought maybe that's what the water was served in but the children at the table behind us had actual glasses with water in them and so did the children next to us. We sat there with no water for 15 minutes when she came to the table and asked us if everything was okay I was waiting to see because I am a server. you see three empty glasses of water there. So then she walks away and we asked her for water she brings us one glass of water with a slight bit of an attitude says oh you need more than one? yeah princess we have three empty glasses of water. So her 30% tip went down to an 8% tip...if that. And I'm sure that she justified her poor service with how we tipped her at the end but what she doesn't know is that SHE actually brought her tip down...
