This chipotle restaurant has been a location I've been to many times throughout the years. A great place to eat since I just wanted some simple food such as a bowl with chicken, beans, rice, cheese etc. Simplicity is what is amazing about this food, simple good food. The burrito bowls are good and the regular bowls as well. I do have to say, the employees are nice people but some employees serve far too little. I'll be coming to this location starving and at times, be served like a very small portion amounts of food and then have to pay around $12-15 for the food I ordered. It's at times very disappointing because charging that amount for such a small amount of food can be easily spent elsewhere for the same amount of the money and get way more food. Some of the time though, you get a great employee who serves customers, a very good amount of food portions. Another tip is, NEVER ORDER ONLINE. Whenever you order online, they treat your order like it's a kids menu order. You will get half of what you normally get in person. This is something that Chipotle must fix and talk about with their employees because serving the amounts I've seen when I've ordered online is INSULTING. Now onto the location itself. The chairs and tables are usually clean. Floors are fine and the drinks/napkins/hot sauce station, is fine as well. I do have to say that the bathroom at times is dirty but usually fine. (A bit disgusting what I am about to say), but once I found a disgusting amount of human defecation(poop), on the floor, I immediately walked out out of disgust. Now I have to mention some specific instances about the employees/food. Once I was coming in a day with lots of people and there was barely any carne asada and when I saw how much I was served it was literally like 5 pieces, LITERALLY 5 little pieces, and then I asked for chicken because that amount of carne asada was almost less than the small sauce containers they give you. Then when I checked out, they charged me double meat???? How can you do that when you served me 5 little pieces of carne asada then serve me a regular portion of chicken which was what I should've been served with the carne asada. Also got to add, the sour cream, I don't know if it's just a me thing, but at times it feels very weird, it's usually a hit or miss in my opinion but usually a hit. At times I feel like the sour cream they serve is expired... I don't think it is, but I know there is something up with the sour cream. Another thing is the chips, I got to say this is a 50 50 chance every time I get the chips, because it's either VERY STALE, or just fine. Sometimes when I get the chips, it's LITERALLY HARD AS A ROCK, and when I bite into others it feels rubbery, like I literally have to bite on it hard, hold on it and pull away the chip, almost like bubble gum at times from my experience. There should definitely be something done about this, this is not a rare thing but I'd have to say something that is common. Kids menu items are usually solid, I've ordered only twice. One small taco kids menu item and the quesadilla kids menu, the kids quesadilla order is a steal. I believe it's around only $6 and you get 2 sides and a quesadilla which at times is around the same portion as you get from a regular chipotle bowl. Another thing is hours, this is just a preference, if possible, close at 11:30 during December. I would also like to say, barbacoa is great, however at times, at times it feels a bit weird, I can't really describe it, however this is rare, 90% of the time it's fantastic. Now that I have finished with my critiques and suggestions for improvement, I have to move on to mentioning the great things about this location. The manager and employees here are very good nice people. They're respectful people who are quick, always greet customers and they are employees who should all receive a raise or bonus. I've been a customer at this location for years now and will continue coming to this location, a great location to come to eat with friends and family. Merry...
Read moreYou've read the reviews. You've seen the star count, but you told yourself "it's a Chipotle - it's a chain. How could it possibly be that bad?" Take it from me - it's that bad. I had the misfortune of placing my order online ahead of time and picking it up there. First of all the parking was a nightmare. People double parking all over the place When I got out of the place I had five people fighting for my spot. Inside the line was ridiculous. I waited for 30 minutes to "quickly" pick up my food and by the time I was out of there the people that had come in at the same time as me and gotten in line were only half way through!
Then there is the food. How many different ways can you screw up an order? I paid for a ridiculously overpriced kids meal only to discover that there was no meat in it! Not much of a "kid's chicken meal" if there is no CHICKEN IN IT - HELLO PEOPLE! Next up was my burrito - somehow someone hadn't gotten the memo that I requested lettuce in my burrito bowl. Some people may be a fan of just rice, beans, meat, and dairy, but I like to at least pretend that I'm eating something healthy by having a little green in there.
Last item wasn't 100% under their control, but a little more planning ahead could have averted a disaster. After all that someone had the bright idea of putting my order in two separate bags instead of one tidy big to-go bag. On top of that someone had gotten the bottom of the bag sopping wet with who knows what (water? grease? mystery liquid?) so when I was walking from my car to my house the bottom broke out and half of my food spilled all over the driveway. Would have been nice to have a proper to-go bag - I saw them handing them out to other customers there.
Well there you have it. Not just another Chipotle
Edit from one star up to two - after sending them a truthful email they offered to refund the order and pony up for a replacement. At least the corporate customer service is looking out for...
Read moreThis isn’t directed towards management, this is specifically aimed towards corporate ( if they even check these reviews or give a damn) how much are you paying these people ? It has to be less than minimum wage, I have NEVER experienced this level of rude customer service and coming from NY, this says A LOT. Honestly, their attitudes reflect that of forced labor. Garbage EVERYWHERE. the tables, DISGUSTING! you could’ve made a bowl with the leftovers that were underneath the tables. This is a prime location for any business, to have the audacity to have all these negative reviews and continue to run business as usual is unheard of. I don’t even think retraining is an option here, these folks that are currently working this location are all genuinely rude, the best possible solution is close down for a month, rehire all new people and make sure the training is adequate. And for the love of god please pay these folks a decent amount so that their attitudes doesn’t reflect that of forced labor. It’s shameful to have this place in such a prestigious area as Darien, my wife is currently in food poisoned due to the bowl we had from this place last night. Already in contact with the CT health department, YOU NEED...
