Peking Garden Chinese Buffet — Restaurant in Dartmouth

Horrendous. Came back for the first time in a year, Last year it was the worst buffet I’ve ever been to. Today I really wanted Azuma which is minutes away from here but decided to go with the cheaper option. Dine in was open, Not many people were inside. We were seated immediately, We were asked what drinks we wanted and the woman left. So as you would normally do when you go to a buffet... You walk up and start getting food. One table was open with food. One table of food and one table with desserts, That was it. Barely anything for a selection. So I grab my plate and get ready to get food and the woman comes over and tells us no, They have to make our plate. Okay... Odd but I understand because of covid. It was very awkward. She was just piling food on top of each other, A few people complained about it. I had one plate, Food wasn’t even decent. I asked if the Hibachi was open because I’m paying for an all you can eat restaurant I want to get my money’s worth... She says yes. I felt very weird because I didn’t know if that was another thing they had to do for me (Making the plate). She tells me I can and he will be right out. I stood there and waited for about 15 almost 20 minutes and finally walked back to my seat. He finally comes out and asks me four times if I wanted the hibachi food spicy, I told him no I prefer teriyaki. He cooked the food for probably two or three minutes and said it was done. I found that strange since raw meat takes longer than that to cook. I sat down with my friend and told her I just know this is going to make me sick. Even the hibachi was gross, The food was old and mushy. We left, Thank god it was a $23 meal for two people. As soon as we left myself and my friend got sick. I was not full nor satisfied when I left. This place was a very big waste of money. I’ve now given them two chances and they’ve failed. Absolutely disgusting, Don’t waste your money. Lesson learned, Pay the extra money and go to Azuma instead... At least the food is good and fresh.

Cons: There Really aren’t very many. There are many options, but many of them are fried. And some may perceive the dinner and weekend prices as a bit high.

Pros: The service is wonderful and attentive, owners and servers are very friendly both in greeting and in leaving. There are a lot of options on the buffet. The fruit bar and the dessert bar is well stocked and pretty typical of most buffets. There are a handful of beef, chicken and shrimp dishes, all are standard Chinese restaurant items. However, these are prepared well. Not much grease or MSG. The beef is flavorful and tender, chicken is also flavorful and tender. The shrimp are a little bit larger than usual for this type of restaurant and it served in a few different ways. For the dinner or weekend buffet The shrimp is also served fried. The fried shrimp, a wonderfully crispy and very tasty. Also on dinner and weekends, they have their version of steak tips, which is cubed beef in a pseudo eu jus. There are mashed potatoes and brown gravy available also. It really is a nice offering and honestly, I would be pleased with that alone. Perhaps adding a little bit of their cheese spinach. The evening, buffet and weekend buffet have a handful of options, not on the luncheon buffet, but it’s also not terribly different. One plus is their Mongolian barbecue. The barbecue offers a number of meat and seafood items, including pork and calamari. It has all of the veggies you could ask and a number of sauces to enhance. The person that generally operates the barbecue is incredibly friendly and also willing to make it to your tastes. Is one of the better I’ve had in this area.. The last plus is that both soft drinks and tea come with the buffet and there is no additional charge. What you see is what you pay.

HORRIBLE!!!!! My family and I are new the area so we figure we give this place a try. Visit 1: Boyfriend and I came to have dinner here. Food was okay, they seem pleasant. We get the bill while we are still in mid dinner...conversing and still eating. The lady comes by multiple times...and we are thought um okay. We've only been here 20 mins, why are they rushing us out. No big deal,we finish, tip,pay and leave. Visit 2: brought the family, which included my 80 year old mother. We ate, again everything seemed okay. I was brought the bill. I then proceeded to ask how do I go a out take out? Lady said, go grab what you'd like and bring the bill up front with the take put. I said, okay no problem. This turned into a fiasco!!!!!!! We were asked about 10 times about the bill, people surroundings, BTW SOME OF FAMILY FINISHED THEIR FOOD YET!!! Our table was surrounded by 4 women!!!! Speaking in their native language which I could care less. But when the environment feel hostile that my 80 yr old mother is asking what's going on and she's getting worked really upset and shaky.....thats where YOUVE GONE TOOOOOO FAR. Speak to your staff of what the restaurant policy is or things should be handled but needless to say my family nor I will be returning. Absolutely horrible experience for , especially my mother and kids!! Oh and after we ate, there other kids fingerings all the damn food. Disgusting and YOUR STAFF SAW IT AND DID NOTHING!!...
