My wife and I really enjoy Toast of Davidson, NC. We discovered it in the last year (2012) and have been back several times. We showed up on my birthday in May and were given the royal treatment. Well worth the 45 minute drive from Rock Hill, SC. We have very good feelings about this restaurant. While this feeling remains, we had a bit of a setback last week. On our first visit for late brunch, we each ordered a Bloody Mary. Later, the owner stopped by our table to ask how we enjoyed our meal. Of course, the Eggs Benedict was terrific, service was wonderful and the ambiance was warm with a room full of happy people. We happened to mention that the Bloody Mary mix included horseradish and we weren't especially fond of that and preferred it without. Hot is good, but no horseradish. The owner said that's not a problem. Any time we come in, he added, just request it without and we'll get it. Not a problem. So two visits later he was true to his word. The Bloodies were excellent. Then there was last Sunday. We ordered the same Bloody Marys w/o horseradish and our waiter was openly irked we asked for that and made it plain they would have to be mixed separately since the mix was done beforehand with horseradish. We were okay with that and waited. We received the drinks and they were excellent. My wife decided she wanted a second, which they mixed begrudgingly making it plain again how much trouble it was to accommodate us. Things were getting uncomfortable. Then a different wait person came to our table to tell us how much trouble she went to to make these separately for us even though, she said, the traffic was slower and they could do it for us. The whole affair made the meal uncomfortable and unpleasant. On earlier visits I understood they made the drinks specially for us and I left a generous tip for this reason. On this visit I had intended to do the same, but these two employees made us so uncomfortable I left only the basic 15% tip. Maybe too much for the annoyance even at that. Their behavior was not acceptable and NOT a way to endear customers to one's restaurant. We will be back, but will not forget this unpleasant visit. Food was very...

Came on a Sunday afternoon for brunch with family from out of town. Initially everything went smoothly, our waitress was prompt with getting our drink and food orders. That's where it stopped. We waited 45min from the time of order for our food. My wife and I have both worked food service before so we understand things get busy and backed up. Not a problem. What was a problem was that our waitress did not stop by our table once to communicate the status of our food. We barely saw her on the floor with other tables, she seemed upset and I can't judge what that may have been. Sadly nobody else helped her out, which actually made me more upset than her absence. It was clear the team on Sunday was every man/woman for himself/herself. My wife asked three different staff members for assistance and we went largely ignored. We asked one about the status of our food when we couldn't find our waitress, this lady said I'll check. Then proceeded to ignore us multiple times before we stopped her again. Another staff we asked for some syrup when the food was delivered. She also walked by multiple times ignoring us and serving drinks to other tables. My wife went to the front and retrieved syrup from the bar. And lastly we had to ask someone else to get our check because we just wanted to leave. The food was late, the communication didn't exist and being ignored by multiple staff was frustrating. Sadly my burger tasted of no seasoning and was well done instead of medium well. But I wasn't about to risk asking for it to be remade because I had just waited 45min for it to show up.
We really loved this place in the past. Unfortunately this was two strikes in a row for Famous Toastery. Last time it was a similar experience with my wife at the Mooresville location and sadly we won't be...
Read moreWe are big fans of Toast in Mooresville for Breakfast/Brunch, so we decided to try Toast in Davidson for dinner. The group consisted of me, my mother, two of my Aunts, and my two grandmothers last Friday, January 8, 2016. The experience was a little strange. I'm still not entirely sure who our server was and I didn't feel like we received much attention at all, despite being one of the only tables occupied in the restaurant. We had to flag someone down to order drinks and a different person came to our table each time after that. I must say that the food was excellent. Everyone very much enjoyed the quality of their meal, however after we were served our plates, no one ever returned to check on us. We did not finish eating quickly as we were 6 women talking and visiting, but we still sat there for a good 20 minutes after we were finished eating. At this time, my Aunt finally went to the bar area and asked one of the girls there for our check. We requested separate checks, but she did not confirm who ordered which meal, so half of the checks were incorrect. We got that sorted out and paid. We all commented as we left how disappointing it was that the service was not better because the food was actually quite good.
I do plan on giving this another shot and hope that it was just an off...
