I’ve only ordered lunch from here once or twice during the week because it’s fast and convenient. Today, my husband and I decided to order takeout based on their online menu. He ordered a Pimento Cheeseburger, and I got a regular cheeseburger with curly fries. The online menu described the Pimento Cheeseburger as a 1/3 lb. burger with melted homemade pimento cheese. We paid $27, and when we got home, we noticed my husband’s burger had lettuce, tomato, and onion, but no visible pimento cheese.
I called the restaurant to let them know we received the wrong burger and asked if I could bring it back, and they said yes. When we arrived, we only brought back my husband’s burger. While we were waiting, Misty (who I was told is the owner) came from the back with the burger bag and said, "This is a pimento cheeseburger," in the most condescending tone I’ve ever heard. I asked, "Oh, so there is pimento cheese on it?" She replied yes and pointed to the in-store menu, where it mentioned onions, lettuce, and tomato, as if we hadn’t read it properly. Then, without another word, she dropped the bag on the table in front of us, turned and walked back to the kitchen—no greeting, no apology for the confusion, nothing.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. We left, and I immediately threw the burger in the trash. I’ve heard stories from one of my relatives, who is over 75, about this place’s racist history, but I was willing to give it a chance. After all, it’s 2024, right? I didn’t want to argue with her—it’s her business, and we can’t change her attitude. But we can choose not to patronize her establishment again. I’m sure she'll read this and won’t care, but I want others to be aware of where they’re spending their money.

Read moreI did not expect this. An old friend of mine suggested this place to me about a month ago, but I finally got around to checking it out. It's Davidson, so it seemed like a hole-in-the wall kind of place to me.
Very small, not a ton of seating. 4 girls on duty in the front, couple of cooks in the back. Each booth could hold up to 4 people, but if they arranged the tables you could probably get 6-8 people at a table.
Food was very good, very reasonably priced. A burger with a side was $8-9, depending on what you chose. Milkshakes were a bit expensive for their size, so I avoided that. Seriously considered a sundae though, maybe next time.
Waitstaff was very polite, too. Our waitress was at tentative, but she also seemed as though she was trying to avoid having to talk to us - which I didn't really appreciate. Perhaps it was a bad day, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I still left 20%.
Parking nearby can be tricky depending on when you come, but the angled spots across the street are easy to get into, but a bit tricky to get out of. Just be aware. Most of the parking is parallel parking.
I would definitely recommend it if you want great food for a reasonable price, with friendly staff and a very...
Read moreI've come for lunch a few times and really liked it. I think I just learned that breakfast may not be their thing? Asked if anything is more popular and she said "not really. I like the spinach Benedict. It's pretty good." So I ordered it. After a 25 minute wait, during which I was told that there were no English muffins and what other bread would I like (this is Sunday morning at 8:30 by the way), it came out with stone cold hollandaise sauce and my poached eggs were hard inside. Don't think I've ever seen that. I asked if that is what it's usually like and she said "oh not that cold no. And the poached eggs are cooked however you order them." Not only have I not seen hard poached eggs as a default, but I most certainly wasn't asked how I'd like my poached eggs. No offer was made to fix any of this in any way, either new food or crediting the meal. That probably would have helped as it wasn't edible as is. But I suppose the waitress was busy chatting with her friend in the otherwise empty restaurant. Bad visits happen. Guess it was one of those! I'd still go for lunch but likely not for another...
