We came here for a date night by way of a few recommendations. So disappointing! First there is a dairy allergy in our group and the chef was unwilling / unable to make any accommodations with the exception of parsnips (they were fine). The waitress was annoyed by the mention. They’d run out of red meat by the time we got there at 730. Disappointed, but I ordered the kale salad with shrimp and no onions. The salad came out with 3/4 cups of onions throughout the salad. I picked them out since the waitress came by 10 - 15 minutes after the food was ordered and instead of offering a new salad, she offered me a plate to put the onions on. 4 shrimp. My SO ordered the tuna rare it came out medium-medium well. Bc he’d asked for no butter, it seems they thought he meant “no seasonings” bc there were non other than salt. No oil. Very odd. I’m really in disbelief this was the same place that people I trusted recommended. They’ll get the stink eye next time I see them. The icing on top was while we were eating the staff was sweeping all around our table with bright lights on their dustbins? RUKM? That light was as a right as a mag light shining in our faces. It was ridiculous. As a former server in college — you just don’t do this. I felt like we were at Chilis or McDs something. One young man did it twice and who I’m assuming was the manager came around and swept the same area again. Three times all within a half hour!! It was like having your mom vacuuming while your favorite show is on. I expect better for a 130 meal. The $20 glass of a middle of the road Sauvignon Blanc was slightly steep for what turned out to be a 4oz pour. Dessert time came and all desserts had cream in them making someone with a dairy allergy (which is not a rare allergy if you add people with lactose issues). Really trying to find something nice to say and I just can’t. Also, I thought it was suppose to be casual/fine dining. This place felt more like a sports bar with fake smoke scent wafting. Really really disappointing. Won’t be back and will not...
Read moreThe service and atmosphere were good but the food was way overpriced for what it was and under the quality expectations given the price. Because the food is the core of the dinner experience, I have to give this 2 stars.
I got the hamburger and fries for $28. For that price, you would expect a really good hamburger. I ordered medium but it’s like they roll their meat into a baseball and don’t flatten it before cooking it. The outside was cooked well done but the inside was medium-rare to rare. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the type of person that loves a good meaty burger (which they don't skimp on the meat) but this was nearly inedible, to the point I only finished about half. It poured blood all over the plate with the first couple of bites, soaking the fries. Some may like that but it wasn’t for me. The meat to bread ratio and other toppings was way off. After a couple of bites the bread got so wet and thin it sort of disappeared and was left with just a super thick, partially raw meat patty to eat. A good burger requires a good meat to toppings ratio and a bun that can actually handle the meat. It’s no wonder they have difficulty cooking to the right temperature with how it was formed before cooking (read other reviews).
My wife got the chicken and pasta dish, which I tried. The flavor was good but the chicken was chewy. Not sure if just poor quality chicken or if it was overcooked. It was comparable to maybe an Applebee’s dish. We’ve had much better at Olive Garden, to be honest. My daughter got the kid's pasta. While really expensive for what it was, a small bowl of noodles and side of fries (which cost extra), I don’t have further complaints about it.
All in all, while we had an enjoyable time with the family, we won’t be going back and couldn't recommend it with a...
Read moreI love spending money on a nice meal, but was sadly let down by my experience today at flatiron. Me and my wife went in for lunch and handed a menu with one burger, a turkey club, and a couple of salads. From the start we were let down by the selection and told that everything was made fresh which is why they couldn't have a larger menu. I thought maybe the food would be worth the limited menu.
I was wrong.
I ordered the burger for $20. It was default medium, which I was fine with. The patty was made with a press, which made the outside well done and the inside a nice pink. However one bite of the burger shows they forgot that seasoning exists. The meat was greasy and hard. The bacon jam had little flavor and the amount of lettuce on the burger made the patty slip right out of the bun. The truffle fries were good, but the entire time I ate the burger I knew wendys could top this flavor. When paying $20 for a burger you expect a great product and this just did not deliver.
My wife had the salmon wedge. When considering the salmon the cook again forgot that salt is a thing. The wedge salad was nice looking, but lacked any real flavor.
We also ordered the deviled eggs. They had a creamy finish, wonderful presentation, and NO flavor. It was like someone who looked at a picture of a deviled egg said "I can pull that off" and completely missed the mark.
My entire experience was summarized by the pretentious version of the sublime song that played in the background. Someone from somewhere else took the local culture and attempted to copy it and sell it at a mark up to people who don't know any better. Disappointing.
Tl:Dr the water was the best part of the meal. Most likely...
