I went with a few of my co-workers for dinner last night. The restaurant is very small. About 4 or 5 tables that seat 4 people and another 2 tables that seat 2 people. It's a cute place nothing wrong with it being small. I ordered the special snapper with crab and a side of green beans. The food was good but a little pricey. My bill was $60 with the tip. But in my eyes as long as I like the food, it's worth it. I actually walked out saying I'll be back. Now as for the reason I give them a 1 STAR REVIEW... My complaint is when I work up this morning and checked my bank account, I found out my debit card numbers were stolen and used in few transactions I did not make. The transactions were at places very close to Luc's restaurant. And it was done before I even made it home 15 minutes away. So I wanted to call and give the owners a heads up. Remember, I said the restaurant is very small. The cash register is in an open area. Anyone that is close enough can see the credit cards and/or debit cards if placed on the counter. Anyone can read the numbers on the cards or take a photo of them when nobody is looking. When I was there last night I noticed 2 people very close to the owner as he was working with our cards at the cash register. I was too busy in conversation with with my co-workers when I saw this and didn't mention it to the owner at that time. It may be my fault for not saying anything at that moment but I guess I trusted it would be fine. So again, I just wanted to call and say hey be careful when working with the customers cards because mine were stolen and used. Well, I did call and the OWNER answered the phone. I said hello I was there last night with my co-workers. He said oh I remember you ladies. Well I just want to give you a heads up. Last night after leaving your restaurant and before I even made it home, my debit card numbers were stolen and used in several transaction not made by me. The owner then said okaaaay. I then began to say last night when I was there I noticed as you were working with the 4 cards my co-workers and I gave you, there were 2 customers very close to you. He didn't let me finish when all of a sudden, he began going off and yelling at me. He yelled, THE ONE MAN OWNED A COMPANY NEXT DOOR AND THE OTHER MAN HAD A SICK WIFE IN THE HOSPITAL. I'm not sure what he was trying to say with that. Not that I was accusing anyone or am accusing anyone now. But anyone today can be a thief! No matter their profession or the struggles they're going through in life. I then began getting hostile because there was no need for him to react this way. He should have let me finish talking before interrupting me to yell at me. I was just trying to say I noticed that the 2 customers were very close. So that tells me that all customers are close enough to read and/or take a photo of the cards if nobody is paying attention. So just be careful and maybe somehow try to hide the cards as your working with them. That was all I wanted to say. The OWNER could have kept his mouth shut until I finished and then maybe have been a little apologetic. There was NO REASON for him to speak or act so hostile with me. Heads up to all, if you go eat here bring CASH!!! AND NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NOT GO BACK...
Read moreWe came here on Father's Day weekend so it was basically empty. And to clarify some people might be confused when trying to find the original restaurant Vinny's it is now under new ownership Luc's but it is essentially the same. They have completely transitioned out of an of an over the counter fish market style venue and into a more boutique corner restaurant to have simple but well made seafood with a local craft beer or some wine. Now onto the actual food. While the selection is small and it wasn't stone crab season their offering is non the less very well prepared. Coconut shrimp, fresh Virginia oysters on ice (varies daily), jambalaya, grilled or blackened mahi sandwich, and crab cakes almost as good as some Baltimore crab cakes made from almost all meat with a thin crunchy breaded shell. The service was excellent and they have one of my favorite low end wines (Josh). For anyone looking for a smaller and quieter outing for a small group (i think they have outside seats with parasols) this is a...
Read moreI really enjoyed meeting the owner, Luc, and his wife. Congratulations on the new location in Davie. It's a nice intimate spot with good food, and the owner is super friendly. We had the jambalaya, the fish and chips, and the conch fritters. I'm a sauce guy, so while I liked the flavor and spices in the jambalaya, I would like more of the traditional tomato sauce added to my meal. But for those who aren't attached to the sauce, you will love the hearty portions of chicken, sausage, and shrimp in this dish. The cod filet in the fish and chips was huge, tender, and flaky. Full of flavor and probably the best version of fish and chips my wife has had in a long while (trust me, she eats a lot of fish/chips)! And you have to try the chocolate cake for dessert. It literally melted in my mouth! As the sign says, it's a hidden gem off of University Ave in the strip mall behind the car wash and across from the Dodge dealership. It's difficult to find, but worth the effort! Good luck to Luc's Seafood. It is...
