Great location, tons of outdoor patio seating with lights strung overhead. The are even misters and fans to cool you down in the afternoon Davis heat. We waited for twenty minutes and sat at a table that was empty and available since we arrived. That kind of set the tone for our dinner. We got three burgers which were very good. The B&B burger and Avocado cheeseburger were both excellent. We got regular fries, curly fries and onion rings. The onion rings and curly fries were so good. The regular fries were just ok. We also had two shakes, one chocolate and one strawberry. They were very good. All of these great things but I'm only giving it 3...why you might ask? The service. Our foodserver appeared to have zero interest in our dining experience. She was so much more content to bus tables and walk past us to restock busser stations paying no attention to our empty glasses. We refilled our own waters, twice and nobody noticed. For three of us to eat took over 1 hour and 45 minutes. We watched two neighboring tables, with a different server, turn twice. Two separate parties came, ate and left before we ate and got our shakes. I finished my shake and waited for just under five minutes before the second shake was delivered. She was so unconcerned and unapologetic about the very slow and inattentive service it was surprising. She repeatedly told us "Oh yeah it's coming." It's a shame because she seemed nice enough but just had no urgency or apparent desire to serve us our food. Good environment - absolutely. Good food - definitely. Good service - unfortunately not close.

I ordered the smoked aged cheddar burger for take out. Food: So far, I'd rate this the third best burger in town, behind Tommy J's (aka Froggy's) and The Melt. I ordered my burger medium well, and it was exactly medium well. But it loses points for zero maillard reaction browning. I realize it's not a smash burger, but you can still get some good browning to bring out the full array of beef flavor. Second, the burger I ordered was supposed to have caramelized onions. What I got was slightly softened onions. They were still white and couldn't have been cooked for more than a minute. Everything else was fine. The bun was better than average. The bacon was slightly overcooked. The tomato and lettuce were great. The fries are good. Service: I ordered through chownow, which was easy enough. The restaurant doesn't seem to have a good system set up for take out orders, other than getting someone's attention and asking if your food is ready. However, once I managed that, the employee was very friendly and helpful. Still had to wait 10 minutes past the estimated time my order would be ready. Other random thoughts: I realized yesterday that Burgers and Brew is just a block down the street from Pizza and Pints. Now I'm disappointed that the restaurant right in between them isn't called Crepes and Coffee.

Place was crowded on a Saturday - service was a bit slow but all the staff was friendly and energetic. I ordered the Cheesesteak. It was tasty - yet it was supposed to be a Philly Cheesesteak - and it was crispy (burned/overcooked) and seriously lacking a ooey-gooey cheese element. Also supposed to have mushrooms, but they were not prominent either. We had just walked the 3 mile Arboretum trail up and back around the little stream and lake - that was fun and gorgeous, and we were hungry! My sister had the Chicken Philly - and was equally un-inspired. Other sister had a big burger and proclaimed it - just ok. The portions are large, tho. Curley fries seemed to be the highlight. Garlic fries were just fries with garlic tossed on top. One sister split it with her husband, and most of the garlic went with the top of the portion she gave him. Garlic Fries should be tossed with garlic, at least. In my opinion - the large crowd was probably the reason the food was not as good as it should be. They put a lot of food out in short order - but I would rather wait a little longer and get better food. Several people who ordered after us - got their food first. Overall 2-3 out of 5.

So much has changed at the Davis Burgers & Brew. Gone is the warm, welcoming environment, and you can forget great service. Now, The sole purpose of Burgers & Brew staff is to serve orders as quickly as possible. That's it. 10-14 years ago, Burgers and Brew was our Go-To Davis restaurant. We'd go as a family at least twice a month & I'd call in an order 2 times a week on the way home from sports. It was our first choice with hot, delicious burgers and abundant orders of sweet potato or curly fries. It was run in an orderly manner with gracious servers who created a pleasant dining experience. Now, It's a step above a fast-food burger joint {with a lot of beer options} being run in assembly line fashion. {read other negative reviews.} I wasn't keen on eating here after our last experience but the Rugrat was home from college and craving a burger. So, What's changed? No longer do servers take your order, instead you stand in line, order/pay/tip then wander out looking for a table. Awkward, especially when it's busy. The cashiers/servers are impatient, stressed, and even hostile. A supervisor stands by to hurriedly dispense of anything vaguely hinting at good customer service. Perfunctory, rote responses are the order of the day. The menu is the same but the burgers were exceptionally greasy, not very flavorful, and the serving of fries was 1/3rd of the former size leaving one staring at a lot of bare plate. {note photos from other reviews} Seriously folks, potatoes aren't that expensive. Upgraded Salads used to be a spring mix served on a side plate with a delicious vinaigrette. Now it's slopped on the plate right next to the burger. The salad dressing was oily/flavorless. After the food was served the wait staff never approached our table leaving us to flag them down or get up from our meal, go inside, and stand waiting. The Cashier snapped "Do you need something?" She then perfunctorily handed me water and napkins after telling me to stop back. Unfortunately, my husband had already given a generous tip when we paid. Lastly, the use of plastic utensils makes quite a statement. Cheap & Quick & We don't care about the environment. On the plus side, no one had their dog in their lap with its paws on the table eating off of their plate, which occurred 3 visits ago while the Staff said nothing. Yeech! Next time... Hmm. I don't believe there will be a "Next time." See below for my review from 3 years ago when they were still waiting tables.

I've always loved Burgers and Brew and have often recommended this location to others. Perhaps not so much now. I brought my cousin here for dinner the other night. As always, it was quite busy, but the food wasn't that good this time. The lamb burger was served lukewarm. The sweet potato fries were cold, and the serving of fries was quite small. The batter on my fish {which was cold} was tasteless. One shouldn't have to squeeze lemon all over fish or drown it in tartar sauce to enjoy it. {though I love to do both.} The high point was the house salad which was fresh and cold. LOL. Overall, After I boasted about Burgers and Brew, the dinner was quite a letdown. Here's a shout-out to the friendly, efficient servers. Next time, If the food is cold, we will return it and request hot food and a whole...

Yesterday I brought my close friends, two burgers and brews to have lunch to celebrate a friends birthday. Upon arriving, I was asked how many people were in my party I said five, and then we were told to go order some food. I went to find a table That would support the number in our party. I was then told that I would have to leave the table so that we could all order our food together and then have to split the check there at the counter. This did not make sense as I did not want to lose that table. It was a hassle to get all of our checks separated into five checks… Then I went to go get another small table so that it would help with space wise. Upon doing that I was immediately corrected by an employee that asked me for how many people were in our party. Keep in mind this was the same person when we arrived asking us how many was in our party! She scolded me and said I shouldn’t move the tables that I should’ve asked and told them how many was in my party. I responded with yes, I did tell you how many people were in my party she then continue to argue with me and say please do not move the tables or chairs that I need to get somebody . During our time there we only saw one person… And that person was only delivering food. We had to get up several times to get drinks that we had to pay for for every single refill. We had to get up every single time that we wanted a box. We had to get up every single time we need any type of assistance… I do not appreciate the attitude of that employee! And one of my friends food was raw… It was extremely pink and unfortunately I was the only one here that was asked how I wanted my burger cooked… No one else was asked. My friend was so scared to ask for her burger to be re-cooked more that she thought that they would spit in her food. So she paid $24 for meal that she only literally took maybe two bites out of. We will never return to the spot as I feel extremely embarrassed for picking the spot for my...

If there was a zero star I’d give them that instead of the 1!!! The service was very upsetting and displeasing. Very rude employee and “manager” Daniel Jonson and a lady in front at the register refused to let me and my coworkers sit down to eat because we ordered online due to us working across town and we’re on a limited lunch time. So we thought it would make our time faster instead did ordering and waiting for 20+ min for our food as we have in the past.. My co workers and I have always supported and came to burgers and brews at different locations even dispute us being on a time crunch. And our new schedule makes it harder and we still try to support burgers and brew but for us to be denied seating when there are over 10 open tables and no line of people! Is just outrageous and is just a overall rude and unaccommodating. They said they’re reserved for first come first serve people who come in and order. I could completely understand if there were customers ordering and waiting to get tables and it was packed. But there was a lot of empty tables and nobody in line or coming. And they were very rude and continued to argue with me about it instead of being any type of understanding and reasonable. Then after arguing with me the manager at this Davis location of burgers and brew “Daniel Jonson” told me that I could “go elsewhere and not come back if I didn’t like the rules there ” Along with another employee who then said she would “call the cops on me” for stating my case of having open tables and not letting me and my coworkers sit and eat. We’re very displeased and I will be telling all my family and friends to stay away from this establishment as this issue isn’t being or hasn’t been resolved. Me and my co workers will no longer lunch here and we’re a big part of the Davis community. It’s very sad, but appropriate to not support businesses in the area who treat their loyal paying customers like trash as what we just...
