Not your everyday pizza place. Just as the name suggests, it’s a great place for pizza and beer, but the pizza choices can get interesting. The crust is a delicious, New York style hand-tossed variety. They have bunches of craft beer that change up pretty regularly. The beers come from around the globe, but many are from local breweries. The pizzas are a creative blend of ingredients you don’t find at chain pizza places - peas, arugula, goat cheese, lemon curd - you never know what might be offered, but it’s sure to be delicious. They also have some veggie pizza options - cheese, margherita, and a veggie special (which changes regularly). Additionally, they offer a tasty and creative blend of salads. My coworkers and I love this place for dinner. It’s casual. The tables aren’t super-comfy if you are particular about cushiony seating. They have wooden tables and benches with rolls of paper towels and stacks of paper plates. The staff are friendly, but the service is walk-up, with table delivery and clean-up for food, but not a full-service restaurant. You can open a tab or pay as you go. It’s a great find in Dayton if you’re in the mood for tasty pizza with a little creativity.

Old Scratch has easily become one of my favorite spots in Dayton, and honestly, it’s my perfect go-to place on a Sunday. The atmosphere is casual yet modern, making it a great place to unwind whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, meeting friends, or even going on a date. It strikes that rare balance of being lively without ever feeling overwhelming, which makes it just as comfortable to stop in solo as it is to go with a group. The food is absolutely amazing every single time. My personal favorite is their pepperoni pizza with hot honey—it’s the perfect combination of savory, spicy, and sweet that keeps me coming back. Pair that with their refreshing berry lemonade, and it’s basically my idea of the perfect meal. The quality is always consistent, and I love that every location I’ve been to maintains the same great standard. What also stands out about Old Scratch is the staff. They always bring a positive attitude, are quick to help, and really make the whole experience better. I’ve never had a complaint, which says a lot. Overall, Old Scratch is easily one of the best spots around for good food, good vibes, and good company

Old Scratch Pizza delivers a vibrant and engaging dining experience, making it a solid choice for pizza lovers. The atmosphere is undeniably lively, creating a fun and energetic backdrop for enjoying a meal. One of the standout qualities is the staff's patience, particularly appreciated by first-time visitors who might be overwhelmed by the menu choices. They take the time to explain options and make recommendations, which is a significant plus. The crust is a talking point; it's packed with flavor, showcasing a unique blend of tastes. However, it could benefit from a bit more crispness to achieve that perfect textural balance. The sauce and ingredients, on the other hand, are undeniably fresh, contributing to a high-quality pizza experience. A notable feature is their constantly rotating beer tap selection. This ensures that each visit offers a different and exciting beverage experience, catering to those who enjoy exploring various craft beers.

For the life of me I have no idea how this place has such a high rating. I had heard nothing but great things about this place and as pizza lovers (from greasy to gourmet) we were super excited to try it. We ordered 3 pizzas from here for carryout. A kids pepperoni, the angry beekeeper, and the other was their supreme. We also ordered a salad. So we paid $60 for a full size house salad, two 12" pizza's, and a kids size pizza. The salad was actually really good, and even if it was lacking in flavor the kid's pizza was actually super cute. It had little ears. These two things is why I ultimately gave them two stars instead of one.

I was most looking forward to the angry beekeeper, but found it to be dry and boring. The flavors were mediocre at best, and might actually have been decent if there was anything on our pizza. All that was on there was some sparse sauces and sparse cheese along with dried out 'spicy' salami. I really had anticipated the pizza being at least kind of spicy, but their pepperoni is way more spicy. The supreme pizza was mediocre as well. That's unfortunate because I like my pizzas with a lot of stuff on them. The meats on the pizza were OK, but the vegetables were definitely lacking. What was there was dry and sparse. As this is a gourmet style pizza I assumed there would be less cheese on it because there usually is, but there was hardly any cheese at all. Not to mention the fact that I couldn't even taste any sauce. The pizza was just bland and very boring. The only redeeming quality to the pizza is that the crust is OK. It was kind of dry, but nothing a little garlic butter wouldn't fix. They were very busy, so maybe we just got pizza there on a bad night? All in all I am super disappointed. I really wanted to love this place, but I wasted my money because most of the pizza didn't even get eaten. We will definitely...

I was visiting my parents this past weekend from Brooklyn, NY. I was excited to try their pizza (ya I know, we have better pizza in Brooklyn, but it sounded good).

My dad and I thought it would be a nice spot to watch my old alma mater, Ohio State play Michigan. I called on Friday to ask if they'd be playing it and they said they would be and to come in. We went in and the game was on a tv in the back but we couldn't hear the game. They were blasting some emo rock music. We asked the front if they could turn it on like they said. He said he really wanted to watch it too, it is obviously the biggest game in Ohio after all!

The manager was quite rude and said "this isn't Buffalo Wild Wings, no." Apparently only trash watches sports games and in order to watch, you must go to some gross chain with awful food. Places that play sports games have a bad vibe, apparently.

There were several people in there trying to watch the game and they also commented on it. Two people working wanted to watch it. Honestly, if you just want to play your basic emo music, fine, have that vibe, but don't be rude to people who wanted to spend money at your establishment.

We quickly ate our pizza and went elsewhere. Somewhere that was "more our vibe." The pizza was good, nothing to write home about and nothing unique, but it was good.

Everyone else working was fabulous and kept apologizing for her. I want to like this place but her customer service skills...
