Donnie's Donuts — Restaurant in Daytona Beach

First time visiting this area and got a craving for a donut. It was late and there were only a few left (Blueberry cake donuts). we got one with coconut topping and it was delicious. The service was very nice and friendly. Only two people were there since it was close to closing time, and the lady was superb, explained everything to us and what donuts they make and what they had left.

I must say though, this is a perfect example of this tipping craze going around that people are complaining about AND I fell for it.

I ordered one donut, $2 something with taxes and then the machine in huge letters says, want to leave tip? There are only three options: custom, $1.00 and no tip.

I was like, OH... (people waiting, everyone looking), i say $1 is not bad, let me get out of here quickly, this is embarrassing and anxiety is building. Well after i actually have time to think about it and my wife sees the receipt, she tells me, why did you leave a $1 tip on a $2 donut?

This is super sneaky and will be waiting out for this everywhere now. Since I don't live in Daytona, I do not have to worry about having...

Overpriced donuts with unfriendly staff. Visited at 8am on a Saturday morning. There were no other customers in the store when I walked in. The gal working was not friendly seemed like she didn’t want to be there and got angry when I pointed out that the donut flavors were market wrong. A strawberry shortcake sign was in-front of a donut with crushed Oreos on top of it. Most of the donuts were marked wrong. I kept asking questions and she kept getting more angry and finally said that the night staff is supposed to label the donuts. I don’t care that it was not her job, I can’t choose donuts if I don’t know the flavors. The selection was also lacking. Way too many pumpkin flavors not enough vanilla and fruity choices… but who knows maybe they were marked wrong. It’s obvious that this employee did not care. I’ve had much better service and selection at the Ormond location. The donuts looked pretty and tasted ok… but for nearly $16 for 6 donuts I expected service with a smile and a premium selection. I admit I took a while to select my donuts and a line formed behind me but it’s not to hard to label...

Staff was friendly and helpful. As I was peering through the glass separating me from the trays full of freshly made mouthwatering cake donuts, a staff member noticed that I was having a hard time trying to decide on which one I should get. She informed me that she could customize a donut for me if I didn’t see a flavor combination that I wanted, (see pic - modern chocolate donut w/cream cheese icing, fresh blueberries and blueberry sauce drizzle) even though the “create your own” section of the menu wasn’t up on the board at the time of my visit (7/15). Thank you - it was perfect and completely satisfying. Highly recommend. I will be back to try more donut flavors and try the coffee too.
