Really great food, modest interior w full bar and paintings of cows pigs chickens and horses on the walls. Gluten free vodkas, and breads available. INCREDIBLY authentic fish sandwich, or fish n chips... like couldn’t believe it wasn’t cod. The chick’n sandwich was awesome, not at all like Gardein or other subs. Pretzel buns were great, special sauce was great.
The critique: the sun was a little much thru the window (they need to get a sun screen or an awning or tint or something) and they had a few annoying flies. They prob figure vegans aren’t going to kill them. 🦟 Biggest critique is that they are still using plastic cups and plastic wear which may be recyclable but still ...Hopefully they will start using paper cups!
Overall, the experience was fantastic, the food was home made and gourmet, pay about $13-$14 bucks for a giant sandwich with a side. Playing groovy reggae music, and comforting for sure that the vegan movement is growing. There were non vegans there enjoying the food and drinks. Cute couples on dates. Bathroom was reportedly very nice. Chef was diligent and got orders out quickly. Server checked on us the perfect amount and didn’t hover. We wanted to try everything on the menu... we...
Read moreIn June 2024, I visited Evolve Modern Vegan Kitchen in Daytona Beach and, unfortunately, my experience was less than impressive. While the staff were friendly and accommodating, the food simply did not live up to expectations. The dishes were bland and lacked the depth of flavor I had hoped for, especially considering the restaurant's reputation. I tried a few items from the menu, but none of them left a lasting impression. The textures were fine, but the overall taste was underwhelming, and I found myself wishing for a bit more seasoning or creativity in the preparations.
While I understand the challenges of creating plant-based dishes that stand out, it felt as though the flavors were either too subtle or completely absent. The presentation was decent, but the lack of vibrant, bold flavors left the meal feeling somewhat flat.
On a positive note, the staff made the experience more pleasant with their attentiveness and warm service. It’s clear that they are trying to create a welcoming environment, but unfortunately, the food did not live up to the same standard. Given the wide variety of vegan options in the area, I would likely explore other places for a more...
Read moreWhile we were traveling for the holidays, I did a quick search for vegan restaurants around me and Evolve came up. It was about a 20 minute drive and when we arrived it was on a street that had a bunch of bars and small restaurants. Evolve isn't that big with only a couple of tables and additional seating at the bar. The menu had a pretty decent selection of plant based comfort food ranging from hot dogs, chickun sandwiches and smash burgers.
All of the staff were super friendly and since we were seated at the bar we chatted up the cook, who was pretty friendly as well.
We ended up trying the Chickun N Waffles sandwich which came with fries. It's southern fried chickun with maple syrup, a red onion jam and smash sauce between 2 Belgian waffles. It was delicious!
We also tried the Buffalo Chickun sandwich served with southern slaw, red onion jam, housemade buffalo sauce and fries. This was equally as delicious!
If you're looking for plant based comfort food that tastes as good as their meat based counterparts and you're in the Daytona Beach area, definitely hit up Evolve. You won't be...
