I stayed this past weekend, and while I tried so hard to look past things, I just truly cannot give this hotel 5 stars, not even 4. I always search reviews before I go to a hotel, because I like to see what other guests are experiencing. So I’m writing this review today to inform others. I stayed two nights and spent $567. When we got to our room, we had a view of the AC units, really an eye sore. The hotel was like a ghost town, so I knew they were not booked up. I went down to the front desk and they kindly moved me to another room. When we got to the 2nd room, the AC in the bathroom made an obnoxious sound. We called up the maintenance team and they told us pretty much “yeah they make noises like that.” I kindly asked the front desk for another room because the noise was annoying and I wouldn’t be able to sleep. They then moved me to a 3rd room. The 3rd room was fine, nice view. (I will mention that to the left of hotel is a motel, and to the right is an abandoned hotel.) That night my partner went down to the front desk to ask for silverware, as we were eating left overs in the room. The front desk agent told him that they didn’t have any because the restaurant was closed. Really? You have no silverware anywhere accessible? Or you can’t just walk into the restaurant yourself and grab me one? I find that hard to believe. We ended up finding plastic silverware in our car. We go up to the hotel room, to find out there’s also no microwave. We called down and we were told they don’t have a singular microwave in the hotel at all. I also find that hard to believe? It’s weird that a hotel of this caliber doesn’t even have a microwave on the bottom floor for guests to utilize. Well that just defeats the purpose of bringing in food to your hotel room. The next day we left to go run errands, only to come back to find that house keeping was in our room. We specifically noted it on our file, as well as put the “still sleeping” sign on the front handle. I called down and was extremely upset by this. I did NOT want anyone entering my room. The front desk agent only said “I’m so sorry” and offered me a $10 coupon to use at the restaurant. Really, $10? I specifically noted this on file when doing early check in on the app and told the agent as well. Very poor communication with house keeping. That really upset me, and then being thrown a small $10 for two people was very disheartening. Another note, the room AC was very difficult the figure out. Another note, the pool was “heated” but we lasted maybe 15 minutes in there before getting cold. The icing on the cake was the amount of dust that was in the room. If you bang your hand on the comforter, you will watch as all the dust comes flying up. You can also see the dust all over the lights. I ended up using my own wipes to clean the lights and counters in the room. I was really confused by this because it’s a new hotel so not sure why there would be so much dust? Due to this, my partner and I got very sick. Red eyes, stuffed noses, and sore throat. Maybe house keeping is doing “quick cleans” I don’t know. I also want to mention that valet is not directly attached to the hotel. It’s actually in a garage down the block. I have to give it to the valet guys, they are running over there by foot every time. I just feel a little weird knowing my car is off-site and not directly close to us. Even though you pay $40 a day for valet, I still tipped the guys $10 each because I felt bad that they are running all the way over there. I don’t really think the hotel can do anything about this, since there is no parking on-site and they can’t “create” parking all of a sudden. But I would just keep this in mind if you are a guest. Overall, for $567, we did not enjoy our stay. The hotel is beautiful and modern, I will give them that. And you can’t beat being right on the sand. However, too many mishaps happened that made our stay negative. AND we sick. I love Marriott and only use Marriott for travel and work, but I was disappointed...
Read more10/13/25: Stayed just one night for work. Rooms are clean. They’re colored in grays and blues, which feels a little outdated, but I’m sure it cost a ton to update all the rooms as often as interior design trends rotate. I started with a regular oceanfront room, but it turned out the TV didn’t work at all. The supervisor, Eddie, came up himself and couldn’t figure it out so he ended up moving me two rooms down to an oceanfront suite which he said is the best room they offer. It has a little wrap around balcony you can enter from either the kitchenette or the bedroom. It’s a great room to watch the sunrise from.
The regular oceanfront room had a small balcony with two chairs that had more of a sideways view of the beach. I arrived once it was already dark so I didn’t take a great look at the balcony, but it’s probably possible to see the sunrise from these rooms too.
I like how they have two outlets on either side of the bed along with a button to turn on and off the soft lighting behind the bed.
As for service, obviously I feel like Eddie really accommodated me. I want to also mention Raquel. As soon as I was done checking in, I made my way to the elevators, which is around the counter from the check-in area, so no one at check-in can see you anymore. I pressed the button for the elevator but then pulled out my phone so I could take pictures of the lobby. A woman came out from a bathroom area and stood next to me. The elevator opened almost immediately, but I hadn’t taken any photos yet, so I stepped back from the elevator and started to take pictures. The lady asked me if I was coming into the elevator, I said I was going to take a few pictures. She said that’s ok, she’d hold the elevator for me. That seemed odd as there’s two elevators, so I’d be fine catching the next one. I said I planned to take several photos, so to not wait for me. She said she left her key card, so she’d be happy to wait for me (since you have to swipe your key card to use the elevator). I told her to go ask the front desk for a new key card. I slowly made my way back to the front and saw that lady walk right past the front desk and out of the hotel. Raquel, at the front desk, asked me if everything was ok. I explained the situation and she later informed me that the woman was escorted off the property. She also told me those key card swipers in the elevator are new, to keep non-guests out of the hotel. I think every hotel should have that installed, I know many do already. I appreciated...
Read moreWe had the absolute pleasure of lodging with Renaissance at Daytona Beach Oceanfront on our recent past 20th Anniversary. Renaissance did not disappoint in any way. Check in was Welcoming 100 with Ambassador Zaraphon and his STELLAR customer service extended to us! The Hotel's fragrance was AMAZING, and I have noted it for future reference. ||Our room was Oceanfront View with the wrap around balcony and our view was most spectacular from the 11th floor. The room was furnished very modernly, the couch, chair and bed were clean, and I found the mattress to give me confidence being enclosed in a zippered bag to protect from the worst critters.....IYKYK.||The shower was huge; the water pressure was great and the adjustable rainfall head along with the handheld sprayer as a plus! The only thing missing from the shower was a sear or a cubby for our toiletries. The "water room", the doors, light switches, walls, etc. were very clean. I am very particular regarding cleanliness and "cooties," so I always travel with Lysol and wipes, etc., however Renaissance made us fresh, clean and feel right at home. ||We rose early in the a.m. to watch the sunrise together and we were sure to capture many photos and vids to share with our family at home and with our friends and to our social media platforms. My husband is a native New Yorker, and he had not encountered the Daytona Beach experience! I tell you I scored with this Hotel choice and my Babe was very happy and well pleased at my selection. ||We enjoyed lying in the comfy bed and being able to look to the outside and watch the ocean waves. We had a relaxing time by the poolside with cool and refreshing drinks from the bar. The umbrellas and service at poolside was a pleasant and helpful surprise. We enjoyed the complimentary bicycle usage and took a fun stroll up and down the beach laughing and enjoying the scenery. We even researched the Daytona Beach history of the packed and pavement like sand. Very interesting.||I could go on, but I hope you get my vibe and book now!!! #JustDoIt #YOLO |We had surprise Dinner Reservations back home for Friday night, so we could not extend for an additional night. We plan to return to this location at our future Anniversary times and other celebratory occasions!||Thank you, Daytona Beach Oceanfront Renaissance and to Top Notch Ambassador Zaraphon O!! ||||Mr. & Mrs. Jason...
