Id up the stars, * if the Peabody would clean their * ductwork or replace it, because it’s way too old the place smells musty has mold , especially when you go backstage to perform or help with performers my daughter danced here.
I moved down the road from it in 1990 to Main for business and while it looks very kept a nice, it definitely has a mold issue in the air ducts, and for somebody who’s sensitive to mold it makes me dizzy, and I do not want to smell musty gross air. It’s not quite as bad as Bethune Cookman, which is a whole Other mold problem, but everybody needs to start getting their ductwork clean, which it does not take care of mold. It might help a tiny bit.
You need to replace your air ducts every 15 to 20 years like a roof…I bet you you’ve never replace them and if so it’s been a very long time please take care of this issue. It is a health hazard.
I am not sure if you’ve ever had any roof damage due to hurricanes? I’m sure you have, but backstage in certain walk through I can’t even breathe getting to, and from the performers. I understand that not everybody is a as sensitive right away (or even can smell) to mold and reactive but when you live in old historic Main Street as a kid , and then a bunch over priced rentals and you become very sick and lose everything to mold, you start to react everywhere there is and it’s definitely there. I’m not the only one who experienced it recently. Again.
The place takes and plenty of money. It’s a shame it can’t be opened up and actually have big concerts. Daytona shouldn’t have to drive to Orlando Jacksonville in Gainesville but maybe I’ll open something like that on my vacant lot diagonal from there. One day. If I’m still stuck here. Spoiler alert, is...
Read moreNice venue. Very clean. Drinks are reasonably priced. Ticket prices are usually reasonable. Some very good A-list acts play there. One constructive criticism. The ushers/security are generally very polite and helpful, but seem to be a little overzealous with people who may want to snap a cell phone pic (some performers do request that I think, so that may not be their fault) but even seem to go overboard sometimes to correct people who may just want to stand up during a rock song for a couple minutes and dance a bit at their seat (didn't happen to me but I saw it happen to a bunch of others). Yeah, dancing people are a bit obnoxious sometimes, depending on the act, but so was the constant effort to stop them. There was a lot of finger wagging and light shining etc. at those people, which actually took away from the performance a bit more I think than what those folks were doing. The ushers do a good job, they just have to remember they are not the fun police and maybe just take it down half a notch. We came to see the show, not see people constantly get corrected by staff. Other than that, I do recommend this venue, and...
Read moreBeware to the disabled and their companions!! We visited for a "Broadway" production of Mean Girla. Valet parked due to severe weather- be aware that there is no cover over valet area or entrance. No help getting my wife's electric wheelchair out from valets, so got soaking wet, head to toe, as did she. In the lobby, we were crammed shoulder to shoulder as they don't open the door to your seats until shortly before the show is to start. Then, we are ushered to our seats...which are on about a 35 degree angle on the back row where they dump disabled guests. For some reason, no one thought that the floor should be level for people parked in their wheelchairs (praying their breaks hold), and they graciously give those accompanying them FOLDING CHAIRS. 😡 The last straw for us was the terrible audio production. Even with the help of headphones provided by Peabody, we were unable to hear voices. Music was okay, but all talking and singing were unintelligible. We were going to get season tickets this year, but were so disappointed at our experience that I don't know if we will...
