Tonight, we visited Miller’s Ale House for the first time and had a very disappointing experience. At first our waitress Heaven was really nice, I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it was served rare. The potatoes were so hard that I couldn’t cut into them, and the shrimp tasted like it was store-bought. My husband’s wings looked terrible.
When I explained these issues to the waitress, This is where she changed, she cut me off and said she couldn’t promise the replacement potatoes would be any better. This response was surprising and frustrating. She then offered to reheat my steak—reheat?!!—which I declined.
Instead of taking my plate to the manager, she placed it on a table next to us, where the busboys were cleaning up, and started to take another table’s order. The busboys were about to discard it. I had to ask the busboy to return my plate so I could show it to the manager myself.
The busboy got the manager, who also offered to reheat my steak again. By this point, my husband and I were completely turned off by their actions and attitude, and no longer wanted to eat there. We decided to leave.
The waitress came back and apologized, saying she didn’t mean to be disrespectful but had another table to take an order from and stayed that we didn't want anything else. I said that’s is correct but to not promptly address my issue and report it to the manager so they could see the errors is not how you handle a situation like this!
To be very honest, this comment upset me even more because I was hungry, had been running all over town, and had a 4-hour drive back home to Tampa. I was tired! So that response made me even more mad!
The manager returned and provided a discount and a gift card, which I gave to a nearby family. Despite this gesture, I will not be returning to...
Read moreWent there for a birthday lunch with family. The zingers and nachos were okay but the fish and chips were mostly batter and my prime rib sandwich was not good at all. The meat was dry and overcooked and it wasn't served with any au jus to dip it in either. At $17 I returned it rather than not complain. So the waitress asked if I wanted something else and offered three suggestions. So I chose one of the three she offered and she took my sandwich away. She said they would comp me the meal and not charge me for the new dish she was bringing. So I was satisfied with that. Then the manager showed up with my new dish and asked me what was wrong with my sandwich and I told her it was dry, overcooked, no au jus but the bun was good lol (I took one bite) and she gave me a look like she didn't believe me or I don't know. So I got mine to go because everyone was done eating and when we got the check they took the $17 prime rib sandwich off but charged me $16 for the dish that the waitress suggested and I probably would not have ordered had I gotten a menu to look at and chose my own. So technically when they "comped" me the meal it only cost them $1. The waitress was trying to be nice and do the right thing but then the manager overrode her and chose not to comp my meal and charge me for the substitution which was really not something I even wanted because I didn't have a chance to look over the menu again. I thought I was choosing from one of three substitutions so I was trying not to be too picky. Just didn't seem right and didn't sit well with us with a $90 bill at the end for lunch and we probably will...
Read moreTook my son to Ale House for his birthday dinner. It was a Wednesday night and pretty slow inside. We were sat right away but nobody showed up to serve us. After 10 minutes I asked the bartender if she could find us a server. Another 10 minutes roll by. I'm getting annoyed now. I've worked many restaurants over the years and I know how they operate. This is not the norm on a slow night. Something definitely went wrong. My son went to ask the hostess where our server is. Keep in mind we are at 25 minutes now. The server finally arrived. She apologized profusely and said nobody told her she had a table. We finally got our food ordered and another 30 minutes rolls by. My son and his girlfriend liked their meals. My meatloaf was good but my side of broccoli was still hard. It wasn't raw but it was pretty close. I ate it anyway. I'd been up since 5 a.m. and at this point I just wanted to go home. My wifes dinner was tiny, a chicken breast with two pieces of bacon and a side of hard broccoli that was very salty. She was not happy but like me she was very tired and just wanted to leave. I gave a two star rating as opposed to one for past dinners. Usually they are on point and I'm hoping this was just a very bad night for them. Will I go back? Probably. Once our server arrived she did a good job. Everybody deserves one bad day before writing them off completely. Having said that there is a Fords Garage restaurant opening up right down the road. Competition often brings out the...
