This really pains me to leave this because I used to not only LOVE Red Ruby, but used to recommend it to everyone citing "some of the best Chinese food in the area." I ordered my usual a few weeks ago and was left in utter disappointment, and as food costs are going up I figure I should leave this for honest feedback to a restaurant I once adored.
Upon entry my son could not stop pointing out how dusty, dirty, and smelly the front lobby is - your dining hall has been closed for 4 years and it appears even just the lobby hasn't been cleaned in just as long.
My order was General Tso's Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, and Chicken fried rice. We got Sweet N Sour chicken instead of the General Tso's - and it was the only dish that had flavor in the entire order. The rice tasted like it was card-board fried and had absolutely no chicken taste. The eggrolls tasted like they had been found in a back corner. And the Lo Mein was even worse - I can't even describe what it tasted like, but it wasn't what I was expecting.
I have had Red Ruby a LOT - my wife grew up eating here with her family, and we hope to share the experience we once had with our kids. I really hope they fix whatever went wrong soon - the competition is only getting harder for restaurants, especially off Telegraph...
Read moreFirst of all this use be my go to place when had a taste for Chinese food, I moved away for!about 5 years, so I moved back this year and decided I felt like some Chinese food so I ordered my food online and went to pick it up and the seated area was still closed, and the smell was like something was spoiled or just a damp dirty smell, and the food wasn't good at all, so I went home and opened the plastic bag and then container was wrapped in seran wrap so I thought to myself maybe they wrapped it because they didn't want it to spill, come to find that the container was split and all the graveyard was all over the other food & the bottom of the bag, I was so pissed off with that, I couldn't believe how it wrapped up and it made me wonder what were thinking that was triflen to be so lazy, and the food was terrible I ended up throwing it away, so I guess I wanted to say this place is horrible the food was nasty and fr om the smell it couldn't be clean so I'm calling the health department in the morning because I don't want anybody getting sick, I've been reading other reviews and I've never seen so many 1 stars reviews and every one basically have the same complaint, the first is bland and prices are to high and I'm wondering why they...
Read moreI try not to leave poor reviews đ I did call the restraunt in attempt to rectify this prior to coming here. Our normal Chinese take-out was closed. So we decided to try Ruby Red. We placed the order via telephone for pickup. Upon returning home and opening the containers to feed our family, we were disgusted. We ordered a quart of General Tso's chicken, a quart of fried rice, a quart of white rice, a quart of beef lo mein, and a quart of sweet & sour chicken. The sweet & sour sauce is thick like a jam. Thick enough to spend on a price of toast. The chicken undercooked and chewy like it has been freezer burnt. There were zero seasonings, garnishments aeronautics, or vegetables in ANY of the dishes. The sauce on the General Tso's chicken was the same goopy jelly like substance as the sweet n sour sauce. Not edible. Not seasoned. Not acceptable. And when I called, the lady who answered the phone was very rude and insulting even. Refusing to even remake the food or refund the food. We order Chinese takeout for a family of ten , weekly. Sometimes more. We will NOT be returning to this establishment. Poor quality food. Poor...
