Rex's Golden Grill — Restaurant in Dearborn

Was greeted by a really kind hostess and server. That's where it went south. I spent 5 minutes asking my server to please ask the "cook" to cook my omelet as light as possible. I cannot eat scorched or browned eggs. I cannot stress enough how long I spent, practically begging the server to plead my case to whoever they have, AND I USE THE TERM LOOSELY, "cooking" back there.

At any rate, the server surprised me with my food, right away. I was kind of impressed at first, but that's when I saw the omelet. Scorched, brown, dry, overcooked. It was rubber. Honestly, that may have been the worst omelet I have ever had in my life. Sparse items, brown eggs. The "cook" obviously goes for speed over finesse by cooking on high heat. So, breakfast ruined. I suffered through as much as I could, using hot sauce and ketchup to bring some life to that sadness.

Why didn't I send it back? Because I know what goes on with redo food. I didn't want to hassle it. If that "cook" couldn't handle a simple request like COOK THE EGGS LIGHTLY PLEASE, who knows what he would have done to my omelet the second time around.

Also, the par cook on the hash browns was way too much. They were crisp on the outside, mashed on the inside.

The toast was the star of the show, and even that was bad. I mean seriously, how hard is it to spread butter evenly on toast? It wasn't even busy.

By the way, the people next to me DID send their food back. The cook on Tuesday April 11 at 1130 am needs to be retrained.

I told my server I hadn't been there in years. I remember why. Worst omelet ever.

Never again will I eat here and I suggest everyone who isn't a regular to avoid this spot...

When I come in town I enjoy eating or ordering from new locations.

I have been faithfully ordering 2 waffles and grilled chicken breast with onions. Well today I wanted to try something new. I tried the Taco Salad and 3/4 Pound Chopped Steak. I received the Taco Salad a white container and wrapped in plastic wrap to keep the top on.

The pictures show that the top has been ripped off placed on any type way and plastic wrapped together. HUGE NO NO.

I call to speak with Management to inquire about why was this food presentation so awful. As the manager spoke. She began to tell me that they don't have a container big enough for the Taco Salad. So therefore, they are pulling the container tops completely off to fit. Place the pulled off top back on and plastic wraps it together. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MISS?

I then ask her would that not be an interesting fact to tell customers. So that when they open up their carryout they would no be alarmed. The manager then says quote, "No one has ever complained about it before." I then felt like I was having a John Taffer moment because she began explaining why this should be excepted. She at 1st refused to a agree that a common courtesy customer service headsup about the condition was a good idea. Even tried to hang up the phone in my mid sentence. Not until I said I was going to go here and warn future customers and contacting the owner did her attitude change. She then agreed that there should of been an explanation of the carryout's condition.

I have an idea restaurant owner or manager. INVEST IN CONTAINERS THAT ARE LARGE ENOUGH TO HOLD ORDER A CARRYOUT ORDER! JS

Sorry but …. VERY disappointing experience and probably I will never come back :(

I came for lunch with my husband after seeing many good reviews to try their crepes on Sunday around noon.

When I got there, parking was packed but inside there were at least half of the tables open.

We were seated right away but it took 10min to just get water. Another 10+min to place an order and another 10+min to get our food…

My husband was getting hangry, he had to flag a server to place an order, which was rerouted to the lady assigned to our table, but the other server was so nice she brought us water and coffee…

If at least the food was good, we would’ve been okay but my crepes looked golden brown on the outside but when I bit in, it was doughy, undercooked, pretty much raw batter :( so disgusting and disappoint to say the least. Husbands food seemed okay but his toasts didn’t come and the nice server stationed for the table next to us brought him toasts, noticing there was something wrong with our order.

Perhaps it was just that our waitress was having a bad day and kitchen was short staffed or something but we were not pleased and quite disappointed to say the least.
