UPDATE: I visited this place again today and not only did all of the prices go up( even though the flavor and quality of food didn’t improve) but I also sat waiting for at least 20 mins waiting for my order to be taken. Ultimately I ended up walking to the front host desk to ask if they could just check me out for my drink order. I didn’t want to waste an additional 20 more mins waiting for them to take my food order. The customer service and affordable prices is what kept me coming back I will not be back unless their quality of food matches their prices or the customer service improves..
Old Review:
Wow is all i can say about this place. Ive known about Westpoint since a kid and the food has always been known for being nothing short of delicious. Today i am not commending the food because that goes without saying but im praising the customer service. I wish i knew the waitress name that served us but she was amazing!! I came in with my daughter on a Friday afternoon and was seated immediately. Our server was so prompt and made sure we had EVERYTHING before and after ordering. She didnt check on us too much to interrupt our meal or table conversations and she definitely didnt lack on checking on us either. This experience was such a breath of fresh air because i never dine out anymore and receive such good customer service. She informed me she had been working there for over 20 years, i love places like this with good quality waitresses that actually take pride in their job and interacting with their customers. Oh yea! lol... the food was good too! The only thing i would add is more flavor ive had multiple items here and while good they could use a little more flavor. Very filling portions for the price. I paid $17 for the fisherman’s platter that included jumbo shrimp, cod, catfish, wedges, their signature bread AND a side salad. its also all day happy hour so i ordered a cocktail called the wiki waki woo that had a good kick for only $5! This place is perfect if youre coming in with groups, families or couples. They have menu options to...
Read more0 stars. Think twice before you come here! I came to WestPoint BBQ on April 24, 2025, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
First, I called ahead and asked if they take EBT. The cashier said yes but then told me I’d have to pay 5% of my order in cash, which is NOT how EBT is supposed to work. The Michigan Restaurant Meal Program is meant to cover 100% of the meal on the card. She only agreed to let me pay fully with EBT after I told her that it sounded illegal and went against the program guidelines. I found their restaurant on the official michigan.gov list and still got treated like I was doing something wrong. This feels like they take advantage of people who are vulnerable, homeless, disabled, or don’t know the rules and if you’re a person of color using EBT, beware.
Then I ordered a medium rare steak, and it came out tough, dry, and well done. They said it was well done because it was “sitting for a while” like, what? That’s not how steak works. Sitting doesn’t change doneness, it was cooked wrong from the jump.
They remade the steak, and it STILL came out well done and brown. I brought it back in to show her and she lied to my face saying “it’s pink” girl, it was brown and hard as a rock. I asked for a refund after all that.
If you’re using EBT, do NOT go here. They’ll try to charge you illegal fees and lie about your food. I’m not sure if it’s discrimination or just shady business, but it’s giving both. I don’t remember the woman’s name, but she claimed she was the manager. I don’t believe it LMAO.
Avoid this place. Seriously. I’ve also reported this restaurant to the state for violating the Michigan Restaurant Meal...
Read moreBy far the worst customer service experienced speaking to an owner of any establishment. I was charged extra for ordering a Caesar salad with my dinner for two. I called back and expressed that the potatoes were extremely undercooked and I was given the wrong salads. I expressed that even if I wanted to eat the salad..there was one Tomato and maybe two or three croutons and no dressing. The owner was very rude. Told me I should’ve brought it back even though I picked it up right before They were closed. He said I had to bring it back. He interrogated me like I was lying And saying that he’s going to review the cameras so on so forth.. even though I have been a loyal customer for years. I wasn’t asking for a refund or even a replacement was just letting them know my experience so it wouldn’t happen again. He was very prideful and let me know that he doesn’t need my business. People like that get to comfortable thinking they built a business with customer base so now they can treat you any kind of way and serve you any kind of food and keep making money. I will never again spend a dollar in that place…they treat you like you Don’t matter, even though you’re spending your hard earned money And not receiving what you ordered.. Stay far away from this place If you have any issues with your food.. it will not be corrected..you will be disrespected and disappointed…you will not get...
