Another typical American "mexican restaurant" and I fell for it, hopefully one last time. If it wasn't for my hungry wife, craving mexican food (and in need of a restroom) I would have driven on. You see them along our intesstates and some towns, decorated in colorful schemes more appropriat of carnival than a serious dining eatery. Seen one, seen them all! You know what i mean, copious amounts of "free" salsa and chips, offering exactly the same concoction of red sauces and meats, quickly assembled and delivered in hot plates with the usual warning, "careful the plate is very hot!" That alone should be enough reason to get up and walk. Same items restaurant after restaurant, only the name changes. Meats, refried beans, red rice, chimichangas!? cooked who knows when, waiting for the unsuspected customer, heated in the salamander to order! For those who have not enjoyed the richness and diversity of authentic mexican cusine this will be the pinacle of their experience. In my opinion such eateries should go the way of the dodo or just drop the pretentious restaurant facade and become part of the fast food landscape with pricess to match. As for me, I will continue to search for those unike true mexican establishments that proudly maintain their unike and rich culinary traditions and do their best to share them with the comunity. I encourage you to do the same, you won't regret it and perhaps next time you drive by one of these make belive "mexican restaurants" you'll just smile...
Read moreI live nearby so I order from here once every few months, but only because it's close and convenient. The food ia alright but there's not anything special about it. Most of the food is fairly bland but it's a change every once in a while. Please pay close attention to your receipt because they do tend to charge extra for items that are supposed to be included in combo plates. Example: rice and beans come with a combo plate but sometimes they will charge you extra for the beans and rice that are supposed to be included in the price, they charge them as additional side items. Also, the staff is very rude and not friendly at times, especially if you catch them charging more. It seems like they don't enjoy serving people at all. The last issue is that they don't serve everything on their menu and the prices on the menu are not correct. I'm unsure why they would advertise certain foods but not sell it, they just always say that they don't have certain things, and their reasoning for the prices being higher than menu prices is because the menus haven't been updated. Nevertheless, I do still eat there on occasion and try to remain friendly but the place...
Read moreLast night, we ventured into Mi Hacienda Mexican restaurant, and boy, was it a wild ride. First off, stepping inside felt like we’d been teleported to the heart of the Mexican motherland during a heatwave—I’m pretty sure the salsa wasn’t the only thing that was hot!
Then came the cheese dip, which was apparently auditioning to be the next big thing in the dairy aisle. I swear, it had the consistency of milk and seemed ready to join my cereal. Next time please hold the chips and just bring me a straw.
Don’t worry they do have restrooms and let me tell you they reminded me of using a portable potty on an oil rig location in South Texas in July. It was so humid I. There, you could almost taste the air.
And let’s talk about the chimichangas. I’m convinced the chef was given the assignment with a heavy accent and thought they were making egg rolls instead, but I could be wong. These things looked like they had traveled from the wrong continent! Maybe they were on a culinary...
