I would advise against supporting this restaurant. The reason is not the food as I have no idea how it tasted, but rather for poor management practices, untrained staff and generally rude managers. Let me briefly explain. We stopped in for our 6:30pm reservation, but after a struggle to find a parking spot, we walked in six minutes late. Upon checking in, the hostess told us we did not have a reservation. Well, our friend pulled out his phone and showed her the RESY confirmation. She said, well…”we don’t have you in our system”. Manager comes over..as he is flipping through the screen we actually see our name. He acknowledges our names and said “we cancelled you, you were late” and walked away…no “I am sorry”, no “we will squeeze you in, just sit tight”. Again, I looked at my watch and we were six minutes late. Are you seriously kidding me? There were plenty of open tables…so who took our table I might wonder, right? The hostess, who apparently did not know how the auto-cancellation works, also looked confused.
Look, I get it, their restaurant their rules. But how about posting your policy: ”if you are five minutes late, the reservation you had for the past two weeks will be cancelled!”
We had to scramble to find a place six miles away to make it back to our show at the Dedham Community Theater. Turned what was to be a restful enjoyable dinner and evening, into a mad dash/unrestful scramble.
I will not be going back. As we all know, it starts at the top. If this is how the management is going to treat their customers, they won’t be around long. Imagine how they likely respond to issues one might have with their food…”well, you ordered it”….give me a break, many great establishments out there. Skip these guys and offer your business to those who appreciate the customer just a...
Read moreVery much disappointed in Oscar's. It could be so great - very good beer selection, pretty good food, but if you have young children, be warned you will not be made to feel welcome. We will never give Oscar's our business again - following one mediocre experience where I should have gotten the hint when I called ahead to ask if they were child friendly and received a tentative answer. That time around our waitress was exceptional, but overall we didn't feel like we were welcome there with our very well behaved toddler. Tonight sealed the deal when we were treated rudely, and basically written off, even though we had made a reservation earlier in the day where we were explicit about the fact that we would be four adults and two toddlers. The manager on duty told us that they should 'never have taken that reservation' and that 'they only take reservations for parties of six,' at which point one member of our party said, 'well, we have six people' to which the MANAGER (possibly owner) replied, 'six adults.' The response from our party was 'oh, okay, so you are not child friendly?' Manager says, 'I didn't say that.' It is wildly evident that they are not family/child friendly. Like I said, we will not...
Read moreMy husband and I went to dinner at Oscar's and had the most fabulous time. The cocktails were amazing (I definitely recommend the Citrus Mule if you are looking for a refreshing summery drink!) and the food was so delicious. We ordered the fried pickles, lamb samosas, the cuban, and the fish and chips (I very much recommend getting a side of curry sauce for dipping your chips!). I had mentioned offhand that my husband and I would be splitting our mains and when our lovely server, Sarah, brought them out, the kitchen had pre-split the meals for us so that we each had a plate with half a sandwich and half the fish and chips - how thoughtful and above and beyond is that? The service all around was great and Sarah was the best! Attentive and always there when we needed her (but not at all pushy) and just the sweetest. We are locals and have decided we must...
