This is in my opinion MY best place to order ice cream. The HYDE PARK location to be precise. I come here all the time. Yesterday was different. The little ice cream server boys had been taking orders. About two of them kept talking to young ladies that came to order after us not paying attention to my sisters and I. As I said before I come here all the time so I know the servers faces. The young boy with the brown turban or scarf on his head caught an attitude with me and was extremely rude…muttering under his breath like a damn child because he failed to cover our cups of ice cream. He said he THOUGHT we were eating in. Like he even asked which he never did. He was chatting throughout with younger customers …he didn’t care. And when he caught that attitude he carelessly took out the spoons making a whole mess, covered the cups and just gave it back to us. We all were too stunned and disgusted. I laughed about it but I was pissed. I wanted a whole new cup that he hadn’t touched but I didn’t want to make a scene so we left. Honestly, I’m still a bit mad because I didn’t deserve that reaction. Every time I come the my cup is always covered. But last night was a disaster. And the same server doesn’t serve the ice cream properly. He fills in cups and half’s cups. He doesn’t maintain the same servings for the different sizes. How is he allowed to fill up up some and not fill up others. His customer service skills are hitting the dirt ground. And if he sees this review: “Son, you need to learn manners and etiquette. Not everyone is collected. Be rude to the wrong person and it might be something else. Pay close attention...
Read moreWhen you revisit one of your favorite childhood places, you always walk in hoping that it will be as good as you remembered, and usually walk out disappointed. Luckily, Ron's was just as good, if not better, than my childhood memories of it. The inside has been redone since those ddays, but the ice cream is just as delicious as it was back then.
Ron's ice cream was smooth and creamy, and the flavors of both the coffee madness and rum raisin were delicious. The rum raisin had a beautiful sweet cream base with a smooth rum taste. The coffee madness was a conglomerate of coffee ice cream, chocolate cookies, almonds, and everything blended together perfectly into a delicious bite. I got a regular size (2 scoops), and the scoops were bigger than average, so overall a good deal on price for the size and quality.
One additional thing that I loved about Ron's is that they are very allergy conscious. Not only do they have signs reminding you to tell them if you have an allergy, the sign has all the flavors with nuts in them in a different color, to make it easier to tell if something has nuts in it or not. As someone whose partner has a nut allergy, I can tell you this saved us time in determining what was and wasn't safe for him (and me) to eat.
I would highly recommend stopping by Ron's to anyone who is a fan of good quality ice cream, and I plan to stop back in again if I can before I...
Read moreAs soon as I walked into this place I was stopped 10 to 12 feet short of the counter and told forcefully I had to step behind the table that was set up another 6 to 8 feet away. I was then told I don’t know if you are social media savvy or not but we are not taking in store orders you have to call and place an order. The manner in which I was told all of this was pretty rude. There was a period last summer I came to the store almost every day for around two months and after this I can’t say I will never come to this place again ever for the rest of my life which is saying something because it is only 100 yards from my front door. Good luck Ron’s ice cream hopefully you hire better people to welcome people to your store amidst these tough times. But the way it is being done...
