First time at Lucky Lou’s, and it won’t be the last. This place hits that sweet spot between coastal comfort and polished hospitality — the kind of spot where you instantly feel like a regular even on your first visit.
Our experience started with Kenzie, the hostess, who didn’t just greet us — she placed us perfectly. She made sure we were sat right away and even in the ideal zone for happy hour. (Pro tip: that little detail matters when you’re chasing the $1 oyster special.)
Then came Jayden, our server — the kind of person every restaurant needs at least one of. Warm, upbeat, and attentive without being overbearing. She was constantly a step ahead, topping off our refreshments before we even noticed they were running low, and chatting with us like we’d been coming since day one. That kind of genuine energy sets the tone for the whole meal.
Manager Peter swung by mid-meal, doing the classic hospitality check-in — not just the “everything okay?” type, but genuine, conversational, and proud of the place. Meanwhile, Manager Tony showed the kind of attention to detail that separates a good spot from a great one — he actually turned down one of the high-powered fans for my friend. (I didn’t mind the breeze, but fair play — it is October by the beach.)
Now for the food — and honestly, it deserves its own applause. We started with two dozen oysters from the happy hour special, and I have to say, Lucky Lou’s knows how to do oysters right. Ice-cold, clean, and briny — each one like a mini vacation straight from the Gulf. They were so good, we had to remind ourselves we were paying a buck apiece.
For entrées, I went with the shrimp tacos, served with fresh pico de gallo and crispy tortilla chips. Every bite hit that balance of texture and flavor you hope for — light, flavorful, and made with care. My friend ordered the mahi, which was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. It’s easy to tell the kitchen here doesn’t cut corners — they care about the details, even in their casual dishes.
The setting ties it all together. Lucky Lou’s sits less than half a mile from the Deerfield Beach Pier, catching those natural coastal breezes that mingle with the music and laughter from the crowd. The décor strikes the perfect balance between coastal and contemporary — relaxed, stylish, and easy on the eyes. You can feel the ownership’s intent in every detail: fans strong enough to keep the air moving, lighting that’s just right for golden hour, and live music that enhances the mood instead of overpowering it.
There’s something to be said about a place that feels both new and familiar. Lucky Lou’s has that Deerfield charm — the same sense of community and personality that makes you root for local spots to thrive. It’s got the polish of a top-tier raw bar without losing the neighborhood soul.
Pro tip for newcomers: happy hour runs 4–7 PM weekdays and 11 PM–midnight nightly. The $1 oysters are bar-only (worth every seat you might wait for), and the bartenders keep the energy fun and easygoing. Bring a light jacket if you run cold — Lucky Lou’s keeps the fans (and the vibes) refreshingly chill.
All in all, Lucky Lou’s feels like the kind of place that’ll quickly become a Deerfield Beach staple — a perfect blend of ocean air, good company, and even...
Read moreLucky Lou’s nails the balance between chill/classy vibes with ocean breeze energy, AND a seafood-inspired menu that you’ll actually want to eat from. Started off the night with some drinks from a very enticing list of cocktails. Had a hard time choosing, cause everything sounded so good, but I went with the Cucumber Melon Martini (so refreshing). My wife had the Dragon Fruit Paloma, bright, tart, and basically summer in a glass.
I went with the Mahi-Mahi Tacos (fried, but you can also get them blackened or grilled if you’re feeling virtuous). The fish was so fresh, the flavors from the lime crema sauce and corn salsa were tasty, and the portion was perfect. My wife ordered the Lucky Wagyu Burger, and after she graciously offered me one bite, I immediately regretted my life choices. That’s not a knock on the tacos…the burger was just THAT good. A perfect medium rare. And that truffle aioli? Nailed it.
The vibe is exactly what Deerfield Beach has been missing: modern, fresh, and fun without trying too hard. The staff were friendly, the service was on point, and the whole place just gets it right.
We’ll 100% be back…and next time, I’m ordering the Lucky burger....
Read moreWe had a great time at the Grand opening of Lucky Lou’s Raw Bar! This beautiful restaurant is very inviting. You can see the big bright bar from the street, which instantly pulls you in. Whether you’re dressed up or in beach attire, everyone is welcome! Just a block from the pier, this Seafood forward spot has some tasty options! Since this is a raw bar, we had to try the Oysters, and they did not disappoint. Their East Coast oysters were very fresh. The Oysters Rockefeller were hot and delicious! Mahi Tacos and Grouper Reuben were also very good! The cocktail lineup is also very creative. Their Margarita was nice and balanced. The Old Fashioned was great as well. Overall, the place looks great, service was on point, and food was delicious! Looking forward to coming back soon! Special thanks to our server Ayden for taking care of us!
