My recent visit to Oceans 234 in Deerfield Beach was to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday, whom I hadn't seen in years. I made sure to reserve our table ahead of time and brought a surprise birthday cake. Despite efforts to coordinate the cake drop-off and payment details beforehand, I found it challenging to bypass the restaurant’s automated phone system to speak with a live person.
We arrived 10 minutes early and the hostess asked us to wait. During this time, two of my friends, one using a cane and the other in similar need, found it slightly inconvenient (and slightly awkward) as there was no mention of where to wait. We found seats near the bar and fortunately, the manager noticed and came over to speak with us (which was a pleasant and reassuring interaction).
We were seated outside with breathtaking ocean views. The ambiance was truly delightful. We indulged in a sumptuous seafood tower, the catch of the day, and scallops served over risotto—all of which were nicely prepared.
However, when it came time for dessert, and I subtly hinted about the surprise cake by asking for the dessert menu, our waiter accidentally spoiled the surprise by mentioning they were already preparing it. Although this was a minor hiccup in an otherwise delightful time, it did detract slightly from the surprise element of the celebration.
Another point to note is the valet parking service. As we were leaving, there was an unnecessary delay in retrieving our cars.
My friends, who already needed accommodation for standing, were kept waiting as the valet attended to another couple who arrived after us. The valet then offered to get my car next. This highlighted a need for staff to be more aware of customer needs.
Overall, Oceans 234 provided a lovely dining experience with a pretty setting. The few issues we encountered with service could use improvement, ensuring that all guests feel valued and well cared for.
Despite these minor setbacks, the restaurant's charm makes it...

Oceans 234 is a seafood restaurant located on the boardwalk in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The restaurant offers a wide variety of seafood dishes, as well as steak, chicken, and pasta. The restaurant also has a large patio right on the beach in the back, which is perfect for dining al fresco.
I recently visited Oceans 234 with my wife. We were seated on the patio, which had a beautiful view of the ocean. The service was excellent, and our server was very friendly and attentive.
We started our meal with the Oyster Mushroom Bao Buns, which were "chicken fried" mushrooms, coleslaw, and pickles. The buns were light and fluffy, and the mushrooms were cooked perfectly.
For our main courses, my wife had the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which is a Maine tail & claw, orecchiette, smoked gouda, cheddar cheese, toasted bread crumbs. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, and the lobster was cooked perfectly. I had the Thai Pesto Grilled Mahi and Shrimp, which is served with basmati rice, sautéed spinach, red coconut curry. The mahi was grilled to perfection, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The red coconut curry was flavorful and the rice was cooked perfectly.
We finished our meal with a bottle of Scarpetta Friuli Chardonnay from Italy. The wine was light and refreshing, and it paired perfectly with our meals.
Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at Oceans 234. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and romantic dining experience.

Read moreSo today seemed like a great day to have an early dinner at a local favorite!
This place is always a treat to come and relax, enjoy some drinks and watch the ebb and flow of beach goers and volley ball enthusiasts. Oh, and have a nibble or two!
We were to get a high top at the outside bar, because the place was hopping and the regular tables were booked solid! And the environment delivered! Sun, sea sand and beautiful beach people!
We started with the calamari appetizer that was done to just right! Presentation was well executed and we enjoyed it to the last bite. We ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese for my bride and I had the Smash Burger with sweet potato fries.
First up is the mac and cheese. it literally is a whole tail atop the dish for a nice pop of eye candy! Sadly, from that point, it was somewhat deflating. The lobster expressed it flavor dryly as if it was lounging in the back waiting on my burger. The cheese part of the Mac and cheese was a really good combination of cheeses for a very rich flavor. But again, rather than a creamy texture, it was warm and dry, with the pasta glued into bite sized pieces. The taste was there, the product was there. The execution was more what would be expected at a chain brand location.
The burger was good but the grilling process imbued a “flame cooked” flavor that reminded me of the source of the flame and not the heat of the fire. It overshadowed the burger, including the bacon I had added to it. The sweet potato steak fries were hot and pretty limber. A few more minutes in the fryer may have helped. Again, taste was there, product was there but execution seem to detract from the ingredients.
Would I come back? Absolutely! I would like to think this was more an aberration than the norm. The atmosphere and staff are top shelf. Our server was Jose, was every bit the perfect example of cheerful, attentive and responsive. The staff, paired with the location, makes this a...
