Sticky Bun is a fantastic little breakfast and brunch place with a fresh modern take on old Florida vibes. The food is always fantastic and the service is pretty quick, knowledgeable and friendly. Try one of the stick buns. You'll be glad you did. Everything I've ever ordered here has been tasty. This visit we did have one weird issue unfortunately that frankly pissed me off. The man working the counter was going over the coffee drinks they had with my husband and suggests Café con Leche. This is a breakfast staple in many Latino countries. I'm Cuban and have drunk many myself. My husband orders it remembering drinking my family's many times. It's generally served one of two ways. Either you get a hot steamy mug of milk, a very small pitcher of espresso and sugar or it's premixed a hot milky sweet cup with espresso like hot chocolate if you swapped espresso for the chocolate. Anyway, what was served was an unsweetened espresso with a light foam of milk on top in a cappuccino cup. That's about as close to Café con Leche as applesauce on toast is to an apple pie. They server was very nice about replacing it with an American coffee and not charging us for whatever that abomination was. I don't blame the server but whoever invented this drink and decided to call it a Café con Leche has some homework to do about local culture before they start putting things on the menu. I never get bothered about stuff like this, but I was legitimately pissed as a Cuban. This drink is a Cuban as Apple Pie is American. A little care and attention to detail shows respect for the culture you are...
Read moreI’ve never really liked the attitude of the servers at Sticky Bun. Servers are either inept or arrogant. Sticky Bun is also way overpriced but today, I felt like biscuits & gravy. With reluctance, I ordered a take out biscuits & gravy. Let’s be clear. The description on their very own menu says it comes with a side of “house bacon”. It’s in WRITING on THEIR MENU. It’s the FIRST ingredient in the description. However, on a hunch in my car, I opened the container, & of course, found NO bacon. I went inside, waited patiently behind two other groups of diners (all the while my food is getting colder & colder) and showed the high school boy that I didn’t get my bacon. He told me “we don’t serve bacon with biscuits & gravy”. I showed him the menu where it CLEARLY says it COMES WITH “house bacon”. He shrugged his shoulders, went into the kitchen, came back within 45 seconds & said “the chefs said there’s bacon in the gravy”. I showed him Sticky Buns online menu which clearly say a SIDE OF HOUSE BACON COMES WITH IT. He shrugged his shoulders again & before he could say anything, a woman came out from the kitchen & starts deflecting & denying responsibility. She says “its Googles fault our menu is written wrong” & “there’s bacon in the gravy”. Both statements are LIES. There’s NO DISCERNIBLE BACON in the gravy. Furthermore, GOOGLE only copies & pastes what they are TOLD by the business. I’m NEVER GOING BACK to Sticky Bun. They were very lucky I was too hungry to seriously argue. Count your blessIngs, Sticky Bun. Chiseling people out of...
Read moreWith a Key West vibe and a very dog friendly environment The Sticky Bun retains its name from the famous cinnamon buns that are served warm with a sweet amount of cream. The overall menu that is served here is drawn on a chalk board and serving mostly brunch options. French toast, avocado toast, muffins and (my food of choice) a loaded grilled cheese with in house bacon.
Served with your side of choice of fruit, coleslaw and potato salad. The Sandwich is loaded with gooey cheese, a sliced tomato as well as the crunchy bacon (which may have been premade and not cooked to order). Overall the taste was not bad but for a dish like this you really have to blow it out of the water in terms of flavor to justify the price of $9.00. The tomato really overcrowded the sandwich and the cheese was a bit to basic to leave an impression on me. A great snack but I may have not gotten their best dish or may have not vibed to well with what I got.
Not bad overall but I was left thinking that I could have made this at home. I think the next time I come back I may order the breakfast dishes or just get a pastry and a drink. This place give the on the beach vibe while being a few blocks...
