great food, owner, and service! Edited: 9/10/19 This is the staple spot for my friends and I every Tuesday for taco night for nearly 7 months. The quality of food and service has just kept consistently delivering. the best part of this place is the authentic, friendly atmosphere. Also, their corn salsa, mahi, pork belly, and lengua. The owner, Emilio, is a consummate professional. This guy REALLY knows how to properly run, manage, and maintain his restaurant and more importantly, his CLIENTS. He will offer your children a fresh flower to take to the table with you, come up and pour your drinks, shake your hand, and catch up. and it’s always because he’s as happy to see you as you are him. Tonight, we tried the fish ceviche, which was fantastic enough as is, but when he came over and asked if we had tried the grilled octopus, we unfortunately replied in the negative. We thought nothing of it, besides a happy interaction, but 15 minutes later we received a plate complimentary of the house at his suggestion and recommendation. The octopus was the best we’ve ever had, tender, flavorful, and properly prepared as the rest of the food always is. Thank you, sincerely, Emilio, and the rest of your wonderful staff, see you next time.

So this is my first time coming to Casa Maya Grill here at the Cove in Deerfield Beach. We came into the restaurant at around 7 pm for dinner on a Wednesday night after Christmas. The restaurant was absolutely packed but we were sat pretty fast. A guy came by and dropped off our chips and salsa which was really good, especially the salsa. This was a different experience with the Casa Maya being a Yucatan focused cuisine restaurant. They did not have the typical white queso cheese dip you usually find in Mexican restaurants, but I ordered the guac and it was amazing as well. I saw they had octopus ceviche and ordered that for my appetizer. That was equally good, interesting flavour and I enjoyed the fresh avocado sliced. I had the steak fajitas which were really good, though the side was only beans and rice I did not get any lettuce. I did get sour cream. My friend had the beef tostados and the burritos. Overall, the meal experience was very nice. The food was pretty good and fresh. My biggest complaint is that the service was lacking, I understand it was busy, but as a former server myself please talk to your customers and at least let them know when their food will come out. Overall, good food and OK service. I will be back again!

Have eaten here twice in the past month, once a Friday and tonight on a Tuesday. Was going to write about it if my last visit but thought I would give it another chance ... Prices seem to have gone up drastically in the past most entree prices seem to be 5.00 or so more then I remember them I was bit shocked at taco dinner entree for 20.00 especially when you don't get much for it I think they went a little crazy with the prices. To compound the issue order portions and quality has gone down noticeably. Tonight 5.00 margarita was a small glass I would say 6oz 90% ice (not kidding about 90% ice) and about 10% no to so good margarita...I know I know its 5 bucks but even for 5 bucks I expect more sorry to say, I was a bartender 30 yrs ago after college and I know what the margins are on drinks and how much tequila went into this pathetic margarita, they probably spilled more on the bar making my drink then went into the drink itself. Regarding the food tonight... Tacos for 3.00 they aren't even worth 3.00 sorry to say, they are tiny and I mean tiny....for 3.00 bucks 4 should fill you up...doesn't even come close, would take me 7-8 tacos to honestly fill up at these serving sized, (that would be $24.00 in tacos to fill up ridiculous) to top it off the tacos were very dry and the waitress seemed annoyed when we asked to order the 3.00 tacos...they give you free chips a pittance of salsa though...definitely not worth the price. And when you check out the ordering system starts at 18% tip which I found annoying.....should start at 15% especially with a waitress that gets visibly annoyed by us ordering off 3.00 taco menu on Tues, the amount of salsa verde they give you for 6 tacos is about 3 tablespoons again pathetic ..I make salsa verde at home its not expensive .....but they skimp on everything, when you see a restaurant with high prices skimping ..its a huge turnoff...and the quickest way to destroy their customer base !

I would recommend you go to Tijuana Taxi down the street on Federal for $7.99 they give you 3 huge tacos, rice and beans , and as much chips and salsa as you want, and for 10.00 the margarita is at least FOUR of the Casa Maya Grills margaritas ...maybe even 6! You walk out Tijuana Taxi feeling completely full and bit buzzed from the margarita you honestly leave thinking you you got a legitimate deal on a Tues ......not fleeced as I felt after eating at Casa Maya Tonight. My future Tuesday taco business will be going to Tijuana Taxi ...my days of Casa Maya are over till I hear they have changed their ways...I know inflation is here but the owner still needs to show a reasonable price/value relationship or their business will suffer ...I just don't see any value it at Casa Maya Grill any longer the owner should realize if your going to charge 20+ for a taco dinner it better be great quality and big portions ....this place has neither.

For good food and good value/huge portions I recommend La Bamba and...

Boy how things have changed! We visited on April 28, 2022. We ordered our full meal at 7:15PM. We had the chips and salsa on the table and they brought more, which BTW they charge for extra chips and salsa now and give you less! $2 for each! We gestured to the waiter a few times. At exactly 8PM I finally called the waiter over to ask what is happening. He check the kitchen and came back and said he failed to put the tickets in and asked us what we wanted again. He didn't even act like it was a massive misstep. We asked if this means we are ordering from scratch and it will act as a first time order regarding the time. He sheepishly said yes, and we got up and left! We didn't even pay for the grocamolie and extra chips we got in the over 45 minutes of waiting for nothing. I would have complained face to face, but other party members just wanted to leave. I phoned and complained and they promised that we would be taken care of next time. I don't even know if I want to revisit at this point. Service quality in restaurants has hit an all time low. I suggest you just pick up your food and eat at home. You won't have to tip or pay for soda.

UPDATE

I called Casa De Maya mid June 2022 to try to give them a chance to remedy their mistreatment of my party in my former post. Why did I wait months to reach out since the incident? My father unfortunately became really reallly ill in respect to his post tramatic stress disorder from defending the USA in the Vietnam War and I am his sole caretaker. When I called and explained the situation to them, I spoke to Laura. It took many calls at various times to get in touch with her. She told me she couldn't do anything for me and it was in the owner's hands. It was basically heavily suggested that the owners just didn't care and I was treated like a nuisance for calling. I flat out told Laura I have a party of (4) people who used to visit monthly, but since the incident we have never returned and won't moving forward. These are now muIiple adverse reviews on YELP and other venues. I went on the say it would be really easy to make this right via an apology and a couple of vouchers. It seems the owner doesn't care and doesn't want to offer an 'olive branch,' even after I explained all my feelings. I can't recall the last time I was treated so very poorly. I will not never return to Casa De Maya, all because the owner doesn't...

Honestly, this is the worst so called "Mexican Restaurant" that my wife and I have ever been to. We ordered to go and we ordered Fish tacos, Carne al Pastor Tacos, Chips and Salsa and a corn on the cob with cheese on top. When I opened the salsa, it smelled like spoiled tomatoes, as if they had frozen salsa and spoiled and then thawed it out for today's batch. I asked them to change it and they gave me another which they claimed was a different batch, at first when I tried it in the restaurant was ahh, so so, not as bad, but when we sat down to eat it in our car, it tasted and smelled just as bad, but by that time we were a little bit further away and didn't feel like driving back. The corn on the cob was dried up and nothing like the picture in the menu. The fish tacos were a 3 out of 5 when it came to taste and the Carne al Pastor Tacos a 1 out of 5. The meat was old, dry, hard and stale, again as if it had been in the refrigerator or freezer and just warmed up. It had no taste whatsoever. The only thing that gave it some taste was the piece of pineapple and the sauce that I put on it. The only things that were sort of okay, were the guacamole (although it had some dark areas) and the yellow rice and beans that came on the side. The inside of the restaurant was old and dark and needs some remodeling to make it more festive and alive. When I walked to the restroom in the back, it honestly made me feel down. Two orders of Tacos, Chips and salsa, a stale and dried up piece of corn on the cob, a bottle of water and an iced tea were $77.90. The staff was okay and the manager tried to be helpful when she exchanged the salsa and was nice enough to give me a few chips so I could try it out, but the staff looked to be very young and could be a little friendlier although they were never rude. I would rather go to Lime or even McDonalds a million times over than come here again. I felt ripped off!! Do not waste your time and money. I do not know why this place has 4.4 stars, needless to say that I do not recommend this...
