El Rancho Nuevo - Mason — Restaurant in Deerfield Township

The very first time I ordered here the food was EXCELLENT! I bragged to all my family and friends about how GREAT it was. What I liked about it most was their fresh take on their food. And the way it was plated so appealing. I ordered El Che-Chango with Jalisco sauce instead of Chipotle. I also added a side of lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese and sour cream. With a Virgin Pina Colada. The first time I ordered from them was the best Mexican Restaurant Meal I had in MY LIfe. I really enjoyed the whole avocado and pico de mango and garden salad that came with the meal. It for me was what made this place stand out and be above all the rest. I'm not usually a big fan of Lobster Sensation but I actually enjoyed it. It went well with the shrimp and there wasn't too much or too little, it was just right. The staff there is very professional and friendly. However, today was my second time ordering. I ordered the EXACT same thing. However, I did not get close to what I received last time, let alone what I ordered. 1. The fried flour tortilla was crispy on the bottom and soggy on the top. I had requested my sauce be on the side like last time but it was smothered and thus mushy. 2. In addition, the lobster sensation that it was stuffed with was over stuffed with a very little amount of shrimp. Like 90% lobster sensation and 10% shrimp. Wait, it gets worse...The first time when I ordered Sides--- lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese and sour cream I received each in a separate container and it was a LOT, it cost me 6.50 extra but I didn't mind. 3. This time it was a drop of each added to the hot plate my food was in. Making it warm and mushy and just a pinch of each. Yuck! I'm not even close to finishing...4.The most important part that I loved about this place was the freshness, the whole Avocado nicely sliced, the fresh Pico de Mango and the Garden Salad, they were totally missing from my order. I love to eat somewhat healthy and when I was looking for a fresh healthy choice for lunch today I couldn't help but think of El Rancho Nuevo! Well , it was disastrous. I'm not sure WHO was in the back today cooking but it was a total train wreck meal. I took a few bites and was totally turned off, it was greasy and wet. 5.When I called to let them know they forgot my Avocado, Pico de Mango and Garden "Salad", which is supposed to come with the meal. They offered for me to drive back. I told them I'm already back at work and they then offered to give it to me on my next visit. Which makes no sense. Why would I need an extra order of something that naturally comes with the meal? Why would I need a duplicate of avocado, pico de mango and garden salad next time? What I feel they should have done was to refund my entire order and then offer me a $28 gift card since that's what it cost me with tip. Today was a waste of time, gas, a trip over there and back and I'm greatly disappointed in them. At this point I have not fully decided if I will give them another chance in the future. Right now they are sitting at 50/50 and I'm not sure which time was a fluke. And the fact that there was no refund nor gift card offered., just does not sit right with me. That's a lot of money to waste on bad food and on top of that I didn't even receive what I ordered. :( Due to not compensating me for my meal and just offering the missing sides that come with it anyways, I'm going to have to score 2 stars. If I could give this place a zero tonight I would. My husband and I went here to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Waited over 40 minutes for a table but understood the wait time because of Cinco De Mayo. We go out for Mexican every week and this was the worst food (very bland) ever. I ordered the grilled burrito that was 80% rice and very dry. My husband ordered the sirloin steak medium rare and it was well done instead. I ordered the 5 variety margaritas and they were half full. Then requested to order a daiquiri and the waitress rolled her eyes like it was a bother to her. She didn't offer water napkins or anything when we were brought chips and salsa. She was very rude and short with us no personality at all. She definitely should not be in that line of work. We were out celebrating for the night and she kept coming over asking us if we were ready for the check even after we told her we were not ready for it. It was like she wanted us gone but the crowd had died down and we were spending money. Then she wouldn't show us the bill and snatched my husband's card out of his hand. I had to holler and ask to see our bill. Again more eye rolls. Then she brought our card back with receipt and rudely said "you know this bill does not include tip right" "you add tip here now" and pointed to the tip line. My very good friends and I have visited this Mexican Restaurant before which we were waited on in a friendly manner while at the bar. However tonight was a whole different story. A female waitress was eager to get our drinks for us as we sit down at the bar. We received our chips and salsa. After an hour of sitting and waiting we were ignored by our female waitress, and saw her in her cell phone twice. When I finally got her attention she told me she was no longer our waitress! I thought, "I wish you could of let us know because we came for taco Tuesday $1.50 tacos!" Very dissappointed. Then a gentleman said he was a waiter. We all ordered soft shredded beef tacos and then we were served hard tacos that we did not order. Eventually we finally got our correct order but no one was ever behind the bar to wait on us! Point. If you have a bar you need to have a bartender to wait on your customers that are sitting at your bar. Also one of your servants stated all we needed to do was ask any one of the servants what we needed. Not true! She had no idea what we needed and seemed to have quite an attitude with me. Also.
