Long because I wanted to include all the detail I can if you want a short version: hallway on our floor smelled strongly of smoke, furniture and linens old and rather worn, room and linens not at all the cleanest, very limited breakfast, and a syringe int he bedside drawer.
This hotel was a good lesson in you get what you pay for. Our stay was in January, so the off season for Kings Island and for the nights we booked it was $64/night. If you can afford it I would recommend trying your luck at the Hilton across the street which was advertising about $110/night during the time of our stay.
I'll be honest I didn't think to look at reviews when booking as I was trying to find a place fast to come to town for a funeral and I saw a cheap rate 10 minutes from both places I would need to be during the couple days I would be in town. If I read reviews I definitely would have gone for another place that was a bit more per night.
The 2nd floor hallway strongly smelled like smoke even though all the doors for the rooms on the floor were marked as non smoking. Our room itself did faintly smell of smoke when we entered. Overall furniture and linens looked and felt worn and rundown. The room did have a decent amount of space to move around even with a king bed.
When we got to the room and pulled down the sheets we found they were stained. With what exactly we don't know, but the color and fact some of the spots were more 3D and not just in the fabric made us think along the lines of mucus and/or a bloody nose. When we brought them down on the desk the front desk guy got us a new set to put on the bed no problem.
After settling in we realized we did not check the sign by the breakfast area to see what time it ran. As I went through the drawers looking for in information sheet to maybe tell us, like I had experienced in other hotels, I found a syringe in the drawer of the bedside table. Needle appeared capped but still not what I would expect or want to find when opening a hotel drawer.
In the morning my husband got up early to try to use the fitness room and shortly came back because the treadmill did not work.
Can confirm the sign at breakfast stating there will be a $50 charge if food is brought up to a room that is mentioned in other reviews is there.
The breakfast options are super limited. To be fair the counter space they have doesn't leave room for any other options to be included, but what's there isn't great. The only protein option was sausage gravy which was not good. Rest of breakfast options are cereal, oatmeal and bread/bagel/muffins.
The front desk also is not well manned. Checking in and bringing down the stained sheets we had to call out for someone to come assist us and it took a hot minute before someone came out. At checkout no one was available and we had to leave our keys in the drop box...
Read moreWe stayed here to go to Kings Island Labor Day wknd. Our stay was short (luckily because we don't plan on ever staying here again). My husband and I stayed in room 328. Avoid room 328 at all costs. When you first walk in the room reeks of mildew. The refrigerator is barely cool. Not cold, but "cool". There's a small trace of mold inside the refrigerator. The whole thing needs to be replaced. I'm assuming the room may have flooded sometime before our stay because if you walk barefoot on the floor you'll notice the floor is moist. Not terribly moist, but it shouldn't feel like it did. A carpet should be dry. Let's review the bathroom... first thing off the bat I noticed was no toilet lid. How does a hotel toilet come with no lid? That's how germs spread. Let's move on. When you flush the toilet it gurgles before flushing down and you can feel the gurgle underneath your feet on the bathroom floor. That alone tells you the plumbing is bad, and it had to have flooded the room before. The tub also collects standing water as you shower. Nothing severe about that, but nobody likes showering in any amount of standing water. Only two things I can say was amazing about our room was , and even though we didn't have to use it, our microwave was spotless, and two, our bed and pillows were cozy. I expected better from a Baymont Inn. I know it's not a Hampton Inn, and wasn't expecting it to be like a Hampton Inn, but I didn't expect it to be a 1 star hotel either. Next time we'll sacrifice driving a little further to Kings Island if it means we can avoid this hotel. Oh and let me add. The breakfast absolutely SUCKS. On morning 1 of our stay we had sausage links, biscuits, and gravy. Very mediocre. On morning 2 of our day (check out day 9/5) they downgraded. This time just biscuits and gravy. No type of meat at all. My husband and I ended up going across the street to Frischs for breakfast after we checked out instead. If you can please save yourself the time by not staying here, and if you absolutely must stay here avoid room 328. Also if you have an upper floor room you're better off taking the stairs than waiting on a slower than a snail elevator that has no certificate inside showing when it was last...
Read moreThis place is completely a disaster. First of all I’m responding to a email that ISNT MINE. The hotel gave 2 people the same reservation number. How is that even possible? I never checked out on the 2nd of July. My reservation was for July 9th (my birthday) to July 11th. When I got there I was informed by front desk that my confirmation number was the same as someone else as somebody who checked out on July 2nd. They seen it clearly wasn’t me. So forget my reservation I had for 2 nights with the jacuzzi in the room. Despite me showing my confirmation email AND text message all they could offer was one night with a 10$ discount for the inconvenience. I didn’t travel almost a hour away for ONE NIGHT. The following morning July 10 I went back to talk to from desk who told me the same thing about having the same confirmation number and told me to come back to talk to the General Manager. I did and he was absolutely no help. He tried to tell me it wasn’t the same confirmation number. HOW when the last 2 employees confirmed that it was NOT only that I AN RESPONDING to there email. He then told me I requested a king suite with a sofa bed when clearly I DID NOT. I showed him my description of the room I reserved and he still said I had the wrong room EVEN though the same day I reserved the room I called and confirmed that I had the right room. I made this reservation June 11th. Let move to the room now. Horrible basic dusty paint peeling AND we killed a roach in the room the place is horrible. They wouldn’t refund my night. And cooperate asked me to email screenshots of my confirmation number AND still no response. I work for a hotel. This place is horrible, terrible, and u WILL be getting a bad review from me. THANKS ALOT FOR RUINING MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND. THANKS ALOT FOR NOTHING!!!! This is the Baymont Inn in Mason Ohio. ALSO there was no breakfast as was stated when making the...
