Reasons we loved Camp Cedar! 1. Kid friendly pool 🏊 2. Ice cream spot that serves coffee too! 3. They have lots of seating with shade. There is a fun slide and splash pad that the kids loved! 4. There’s a bar at the pool! 5. You can see the Kings Island fireworks from the campground. #campinglife #campcedar #kingsisland #fyp

Looking for an honest review? Then here you go!!

Pro: Shuttle to and from Kings Island was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! Easy on/easy off and reliable. Beds and pillows are actually comfy. There is a nice sized sink, paper towels, dish soap, full electric stove and oven, basic kitchen needs, large fridge with freezer, good sized main bedroom, easy access loft, many electrical outlets, usb ports in clock/lamp, basic toiletries, picnic table, fire pit, beautiful park, great pools, assigned parking for cottages. Check in and out was easy. Located close to shops, restaurants, entertainment, grocery stores. Price for packages was comparable. On site food options, with delivery. Air conditioner works well, and there is a separate one for the main bedroom. Outdoor chairs and a small table was nice for sitting on the deck. Kings Island passes, parking, and lodging were in one bundle, so that made it super simple. There is a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, ice maker, and a dishwasher. (Bring washer tabs) Pool was very nice, and so was the pool house. There are two tvs that both worked fine, and could connect to our phone. Ceiling fans and plenty of great lighting.

Cons: Hickory cottage was about halfway dirty....Walls had visible footprints in several areas, off colored areas that could use a washing in the bunk and seating areas, the floor was pretty dirty with hair or debris in corners, the sofa was significantly stained. There was food, a cigarette lighter and mouse droppings on the mattress when we opened it up. Mouse droppings were also found under the main mattress. No evidence of bed bugs or other critters, though. Stove, bathroom and fridge were clean. Loft needed attention as well. I had read reviews, so I had already packed cleaning supplies that we did use. It was still a surprise to see for myself. The cottage had offsite parking that was assigned per your cottage number. Some followed it, many did not. We weren't able to park in our assigned spot, but was able to find parking nearby. Our cottage was at the end of the group of cottages, so many came to our end to smoke cigarettes and marijuana. Not favorable, but was able to ask them to move on easily enough. The employees at the pool and housekeeping were rather young, but were still polite. The pool closed at 8:30, and the food trucks were not open at all. The water pressure in the shower is equal to a kinked garden hose. It is manageable for older kids and adults with extra time in the shower, but we just used the glasses from the sink to rinse off because it was faster. The water temperature gets scalding hot, so young ones may need supervision. The cottage area is backed up to the highway, so there is noise if you're not use to it or if you aren't expecting it. Again, read the reviews so was prepared for it. There was one mirror in the cottage, so be aware if you are planning to need more than that (for contacts, make up, hair styling etc...)

If you've made it this far then just know the overall experience was an 8 out of 10. Definitely room for improvement, but at least the resort is open and has more pros than cons. The photos online are exactly what the cottages look like, with wear and tear. The trip was not ruined by anything that happened since it is still a 'campground '.

I would stay here again, and would recommend the resort with some housekeeping and maintenance attention (or plan ahead...

This brand spanking new luxury RV Resort has theoretically, everything you need to have a great time at both the camp and Kings Island, however, it failed to deliver in execution, due to policies, inconvenience, and cleanliness. They have some kinks to work out, for sure. The first problem occurred when the site was booked and no confirmation email came across. Four days letter, a form letter arrived in email, with no confirmation number, no details of the site I booked or arrival/departure dates and times. I had to go back to my Internet history to find this information and by luck was able to retrieve the confirmation number. When I called to add a day at the beginning of the trip, they could not figure out how to do it and told me my site was booked for that day, however, online I could see the site was open, so ended up just booking online. Because they took so long to send me the email, which also had the link to the Camp Cedar ticket store, which I didn't know existed, I went ahead and bought tickets to Kings Island and wasted $65 extra on those when I could have bought them through Camp Cedar if they had a simple automatic email sent out after I booked.

Next, when we arrived at 8 pm the pool was already closed. Sun still shining, 88 degrees outside and could not even cool off in the pool. The next morning, wanted to swim before we went to Kings Island, but the pool was closed until somewhere between 10-10:30 am. Even the adult pool, with no lifeguards was closed. Why on Earth would they have such short pool times knowing people go to Kings Island during the day? Ridiculous. So we paid ~$150 a night for three nights to be able to use the pool once when we came home early.

Third, false advertising occurred when the website says that you can get in Kings Island an hour early by being a Camp Cedar guest. You should know that Kings Island only opens 1/2 an hour early for early ride times for both season pass holders and Camp Cedar guests. So we got there at 9:45 am to wait 45 minutes to get in Kings Island for absolutely no reason in 90 degree heat. Would have been good to know we didn't have to go so early. It contributed to the heat exhaustion I got from no water while waiting outside of the gates and I spent hours vomiting in the infirmary at Kings Island an hour after arrival. Wasted a complete day and was absolutely miserable.

Fourth, we use the bathrooms at Campgrounds instead of in the RV due to its small size. It looked like the showers and bathrooms had not been cleaned the whole three days we were there and the park had only been open 11 days and the bathrooms were filthy. 7 am shower, hair all over the showers, dirt and filth. Same thing for a 10 pm shower. When do they actually clean them? So gross. No toilet paper in men's restroom at 8 a.m.

The good things about the resort? The sites are clean, garbage cans everywhere, pools are really nice, the food booths are great, a couple of activities for kids like batchi ball and cornhole. Nice restaurant, campsites with sewer hookups. Brand new everything.

I think they can work out these issues and, hopefully, IF we return again, they will have, otherwise, I would not really recommend this as a "luxury" RV resort.

P.S. Camp Cedar, please put a tent up for people waiting for the shuttle so they don't have to bake in the sun on...

Went to Camp Cedar for one night just to do something quick and fun with my kids. We wanted to stay last year but with COVID I decided to wait. With off season rates it was a good opportunity to try the cottages out prior to the season as I was planning to purchase season passes to K.I. and knew that Camp Cedar would be a good over night option after the park. From beginning to end a complete disaster. There were issues with booking, the website wasn't working and my reservation was canceled. A very nice woman called me back prior to my check in to process my payment and confirm my cottage. I was able to get checked in prior to 4pm. I got settled in with my kids. The floor was dirty, the cabinets had crusted food on them but I thought, hey, Its the off-season and we aren't here long, no problem. Eating lunch we pulled glasses out of the cabinet that had lip prints on them. No problem i thought I'll just wash them... we unpacked food, swept the floor wanted to watch tv but the WiFi didn't work. We attempted to call the front desk and the phone didn't work. Again, no big deal... we decided to leave for a bit. An hour or so later we come back and the counters and our snacks are covered with ants. I didn't want to make a big deal of it. Hey we're in the woods, although it shouldn't be something that I worry about inside. Killed all of the ants, wiped the counters and left back out. When we returned more ants all over everything. We killed the ants and attempted to call the front office but the phone in our room didn't work. Ultimately, we packed our things and went to the front office. After waiting a bit because theres NO FRONT DESK STAFF AFTER 8PM, only a maintenance man (who was very nice and apologetic.) However he had no power, unable to help himself he had to make a call to the manager ALEX. He was able to change our cottage after we explained what happened. Great I thought. They even gave us a larger cottage. Wrong!!! The cottage was very nice and spacious. The phone still didn't work, the WiFi was still out and the fire pit wasn't working. So, I had to drive back down to the front desk to find the maintenance man. No propane in our tank. An hour later and well past midnight he was able to find a tank that worked for about 5 minutes. It went out and never came back on despite my best effort. I assume the tank was empty. I refused to drive to the front desk again because at 1am I had given up. We decided to turn in but the pull out sofa had dead bugs in it. (Pictured here) Completely fed up I knew that I was going to talk with ALEX upon check out and surely he would make it right. WRONG!! He was completely unhelpful and made me feel like I was lying about the ants because they "found no evidence of ants" and they "had no reason to lie", well Hell neither did I. He didn't even apologize for inconveniences, which I would've been okay with. Had he asked how my stay was after the cottage change I would've told him about ALLL of the issues that we had but how amazing AND overwhelmed the maintenance man was. He insisted on being argumentative and even attempted to call me a liar. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAY HERE. THE COTTAGES ARE NOT CLEAN AND THE MANAGEMENT SUCKS. I will be calling the corporate office first thing Monday morning...
