(Please read entire review as the first part is just a general overview of McDonald's in general. This location did it right and that's the important part.)
For the past year or two, McDonald's french fries in general have deteriorated in quality. Of the dozen or so locations I've frequented most often in the last couple years, every single one of them is terrible. Many times, even when they come up super fresh and hot, they still have a weird taste, likely because the oil isn't filtered and/or changed enough. Furthermore, when a new batch is fried, it gets mixed with the old. They toss them together a few times and then serve them as they're ordered. Here's the problem: some of the old fries will get tossed with the new but as more new fries get mixed in, they keep getting missed. Eventually, I (or other customers) end up with a few fries that have been tossed multiple times and have been sitting for possibly hours at a time. Now they're mushy, cold, and absolutely despicable.
And then there's Delavan. I've never been here before today. I went through the drive thru and ordered the 2 cheeseburger meal with Dr. Pepper to drink. The cheeseburgers were good and the soda was better than I remember it being at other locations too. But here's why I chose to spend so much time writing this review. This is why it was worth letting everyone who reads it know... Their fries were not only amazing, fresh and hot, but they were the ONLY good fries I've gotten from any McDonald's location in at least a couple years! I always have low expectations these days because of aforementioned decreasing quality, so when I got hot fresh fries today, that was good enough for me. But then I tasted a couple. They actually tasted like they're supposed to, not like old, unfiltered oil! I was absolutely beside myself. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it actually made my day. My day wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything. But because of these fries, I'm actually in a better mood and I'm having a great day because of it! Sounds cheesy, I know. I don't care, it's true! I actually ate them a little slower than I would have otherwise, just to savor and appreciate them.
I've driven over an hour for Dunkin Donuts, I've driven 2½-3 hours to Chicago just for pizza. And now, as long as I have the time, I'll drive an hour and pass dozens of other McDonald's just to come to the one in Delavan because they actually clean their oil and their fries reflect that. I'll be making a phone call as well to make sure the big boss people are aware that this store is actually doing things right. Good workers and good companies deserve to be called out when they do right.
Thank you so much to everyone at this location who contributed to making me a very satisfied customer. From the folks on the grill to the cashier, to the managers who are controlling it all, thank you! I appreciate all your hard work. I can only hope that someone sees this and shares it with the rest of the staff because it's important that everyone knows they are appreciated. In fact, after I'm done writing it, I'll call the store and just tell whoever I talk to to share this. Delavan McDonald's, you all are...
Read moreBuckle up, my unfortunate comrades, as I recount the harrowing tale of my encounter with the abomination known as McDonald's. Prepare to be disgusted, horrified, and left questioning the very existence of taste buds. This is not a review for the faint-hearted, as I delve into the depths of culinary calamity that is McDonald's.
Let's start with the infamous Big Mac, a monstrosity that should come with a warning label. The dry, lifeless patties, adorned with wilted lettuce and plastic-like cheese, make me question the sanity of anyone who willingly subjects themselves to this greasy nightmare. The "secret sauce" feels more like a cruel joke, as it fails to mask the flavorless horrors lurking within. Consuming a Big Mac is like sentencing your taste buds to an eternity of flavorless torment.
Moving on to the Chicken McNuggets, or as I like to call them, "questionable chunks of poultry." These so-called "nuggets" bear no resemblance to anything remotely resembling chicken. Their rubbery texture and suspicious gray color hint at a sinister manufacturing process that involves unknown substances and a complete disregard for culinary decency. One bite of these abominations will leave you longing for the days when you thought chicken nuggets were made from actual chicken.
And let us not forget the infamous French fries, a disgrace to the noble potato. These sad excuses for fries are perpetually limp, greasy, and disappointingly devoid of any flavor. It's as if they were left to languish in a vat of oil for days, losing any semblance of crispy goodness. The only thing these fries are good for is a sad reminder of what fries should taste like, making you question why you ever walked through the doors of this fast-food abyss.
Now, let's touch upon the desserts, a final act of cruelty from McDonald's. The McFlurry, touted as a delightful treat, is nothing more than a swirling vortex of disappointment. The ice cream is a lackluster imitation of the real deal, with a texture reminiscent of freezer burn. The "mix-ins" are haphazardly thrown in, resulting in uneven distribution and an overall lack of flavor. It's a sad attempt at dessert that leaves you wondering why you didn't just opt for a bag of frozen peas instead.
In conclusion, McDonald's is a culinary nightmare that should be avoided at all costs. Its offerings are a mockery of taste and a testament to the horrors that can arise when profit outweighs quality. Steer clear of this fast-food purgatory and seek solace in the arms of restaurants that value ingredients, craftsmanship, and the sanity of their patrons. McDonald's is a culinary catastrophe that will haunt my dreams for years to come. Spare yourself the horror and find...
Read moreI had the worst experience at this McDonald’s. Drive thru person was not kind. I placed a mobile order and after I placed my order the app crashed. I reopened it and couldn’t find my order but my payment was already taken. I waited a few minutes and tried to keep reloading the app. Didn’t work. I’ve been using the mobile app for years so I’m very familiar with it. So I went to the drive thru to ask if they had my order, she said no. I kept messing with the app and it finally popped up. I apologized to the lady that I took a bit to get it and apologized for placing the order for in store. I understand I messed up by clicking the wrong pick up option. There should’ve been a way to change that in the app. Before I could ask if I could get it through the drive thru, she was very rude and kept saying I can’t help you and I’m system won’t let me release it. Okay I understand no big deal. I left the drive thru so that I could park and cancel my order and try again. I have a 2 yr old and a newborn in the car. It wouldn’t let me cancel my order so I went back to the drive thru so I could ask how I cancel/get my money back if her system won’t let her give out a counter order through the drive thru. Once again very rude and just kept saying I can’t help you and being very defensive. My only options were to either be out my money or bring my NEWBORN BABY and 2 yr old inside. I went inside because at this point my toddler is upset thinking shes not getting her food and I didn’t want to go somewhere else AND be out my money. No one at the counter greeted me or other customers. Overall very awful experience, especially for a newly postpartum mom. I’ve been to other McDonald’s and have never had this bad of an experience. Of course they don’t care because they are a big company and will make their money either way.
Key points: Rude worker Awful mobile app that should let you change an order from one pickup option to another and it should ACTUALLY let you...
