I called before driving to Barley Hopsters to see if they carried commercial keg fittings. I specifically explained to the lady on the phone (who was the person I saw in person while I was there) that I had a Sanke coupler but I need the rubber gaskets that go under the beer nuts. I also explained that I needed the beer out fitting for the coupler and a beer nut, as these couplers generally don't come with them when purchased. She stated she had all that kind of stuff and that they just don't carry "the stuff you can get at a hardware store."
You can't get anything I needed at a hardware store. I end up wasting a good $5 in gas and a 40 minute round trip to find out the only keg stuff they sell is couplers for soda kegs. I even had to educate her on the kinds of couplers she had and what they are used for. Waste of my time just because the employee doesn't know their product.
Their homebrew and winemaking selection was okay but I've seen retailers (in person and online) that have a much better selection. Prices were competitive on the few things I looked at but nothing that would draw me away from my normal retailers.
I can't say I'll be going back unless I need some specific that day and they are open, since they are a shorter drive than some of the better places in Columbus for wine...

SUPER fun that you get to pick individual beers from the large selection in their coolers and drink them at the table!
Trivia was fun. The night we visited it was all based on song titles. We all wished it would have been structured a tad differently, maybe instead of having to just guess the song title maybe switch it up with some guessing, some multiple choice and maybe other ways of playing.
The downside to the song title trivia was that it seemed like most of the songs were older, which my group is not that familiar with. I would suggest switching up the song erras as well.
Anywho, the establishment itself had great selection of beer, which was super fun to get to pick your own from the cooler, pay and then walk it right over to your table.
FYI - 6 packs will be charged an extra $10 if you want to drink it at your table... bummer. Might as well just pick out of the cooler if that's the case. One of our friends found this out the hard way.
Even though I would suggest some tweaks, this is a cool...
Read moreMade a special trip into town to get a seasonal beer. Arrive and they have it stocked in the shelf with no price tag. Get up to the register and it’s pretty darn expensive. I get home and tell my wife who was shocked by the price. She gets online and immediately finds it locally for less.
Those aren’t my biggest concerns though. What concerns me more is that they have a political sign in the window representing an organization run my avowed Marxists attempting to create divisions in our country. I don’t know if the owners actually support this radical organization, if they are pandering to the local college community or for some other reason. Of course, it’s ironic that a for-profit business is fighting for Marxism. The fact that Marxism is responsible for 110 million+ deaths in the 20th century might be a cause for concern as well.
Honestly, I was pretty disgusted and almost just turned around and went home. Instead, I just bought the beer and made a decision to avoid them...
