We were 5 women, on a Wednesday night. My birthday. A happy reunion. I used to come here frequently with my family, until around 7 years ago, when the food quality declined. This was my first time back and I had high hopes. It's a pleasant place with great views, right on the intracoastal and Atlantic Ave, facing east. It gets crowded and can be noisy, but was not too busy that night. Some diners arrive on boats which dock along the restaurant edge, so you may be subjected to fumes from the boats if you sit at the most coveted outdoor tables on the lower deck. We sat on the upper level in an indoor/oudoor room that was almost private.
We each had a drink, and shared the guacamole appetizer. It was basically just mashed avocado with very little seasoning. The cobb salad was well received. My bff had the blackened grilled mahi sandwich, which she said was ok, but not at all blackened. I went for the daily fish special, miso glazed corvina with broccolini, two of my favorites. It was a disappointment, twice. I specifically asked for it to be medium rare or just past seared. It came out beyond well done, dry, almost crisp, and the vegetable was cold ... I sent it back. 2nd time it was just sightly less well done, and the broccolini was warmer. The miso glaze was too thick ... overpowering, which made the fish extremely salty. The broccolini was tough and stringy with little if any seasoning. I took most of it home. None of us was thrilled with our meal. It's a happy place. Service was friendly and pleasant but unreasonably slow. Prices were commensurate with similar "water view" places. IMNSHO, they really need a new chef and a tune up of the wait staff. The location and setting deserve it. They have a great menu that is poorly executed . I...
Read moreI recommend being cautious around events. We are regulars. During normal times it is a good place to listen to live music and have decent food. I recommend staying away from the restaurant during âAtlantic Avenueâ events like the Christmas or St. Patrickâs day parade.
We arrived an hour and half early before the Christmas parade and waited about an hour before we were provided a table. Before we were seated, we were told there was an $80 minimum during for the table if we sat for the parade. We agreed this was acceptable and sat.
After racking up the $80, our waitress told us it was $80 per person. Unbeknownst to the staff, during the parade we became friendly with the surrounding tables. The table next to ours was also a party of two, whose minimum was $80. They order two margaritas to meet their minimum. To avoid an awkward ask to speak to the manager, we accepted the poor customer treatment and were greeted with a bill that had an additional 20% gratuity charge for a âlarge party.â Please, let me remind you, there were two of us. Given the holidays we were planning to tip our server and staff well, but this seemed forced despite their performance. Regardless of the shady business practice, the service was acceptable and our waitress was attentive and kind.
Once again, fun place, just be weary. Doesnât seem like there is a managerial oversight to ensure consistent quality experience for all patrons.
If we could do it again, we would have asked for a manager, but being local villagers of Delray we expect our locally owned restaurants be run at higher standards. We will not be...
Read moreSo we decided to stop and eat here on the way from Miami, back to Orlando. We thought hey, the reviews are wonderful, I bet itâs awesome. When we arrived, the valet parking was prompt and friendly. As we entered the building, it was spacious, and the staff were friendly, and the place appeared clean. we were seated pretty promptly, and we sat at a table facing the causeway. They had live music, which was great, and the place was lively. We were extremely hungry, so we were happy to see the food come out fairly quickly. We ordered chips and guacamole for an appetizer, and we were quickly surprised at how Poorly, the guacamole tasted. We were so hungry we tried to force it, but inevitably we only ate about 20% of it. We thought, oh well, maybe that was a fluke. We then ordered their fish and chips just to be safe, and I couldâve probably rang out half a liter of cooking oil from the fish, kind of like a wet rag if you will. The fries were OK. At this point, my wife and I were starting to have stomach aches, and we just wanted to leave. Surprisingly, it was at this point that suddenly service became extremely slow. We asked for the check, and the server asked, would you like a box for that, you barely touched it. I said absolutely not. This was the first time my wife and I truly wished that we had eaten at McDonaldâs instead of where we had chosen, But it was too late, and we had absolutely no more appetite. We just got out of there as quickly as possible and drove...
