The Good: Upon check-in during first stay at the Seagate Hotel & Spa, I encountered Eddie. Eddie is all the things when it comes to centering around: hospitality, graciousness, and human refinement. It was an awesome experience to benefit from their dedicated care, thank you so very much Eddie for your 5 star management of our stay!

The Facts: Our initial stay was really nice despite construction (with exception to a screaming child at war with their parents), the rooms are far more spacious and appointed (bath tub + shower, microwave, etc) than the newer hotel properties you'll find here in Delray Beach and the private beach was a standout for us after finally getting to enjoy it after an entire week plus of extreme heat advisories and torrential rain. The one day of beach enjoyment, although very hot was pure bliss. The staff at all points were genuinely welcoming, accommodating, respectful and kind and the convenience of being shuttled over even though the hotel is walking distance from the beach made a world of sense given the triple digit heat. This experience is what sealed not only our return patronage, but caused me to refer the hotel and Eddie to new friends we met at a restaurant who had out of state family members coming into town.

The Bad: Still, no lobby after about a month in between stays. Upon return, we were assigned a room with a large balcony, but the second you entered the room you could smell cigarette smoke emitting from the bathroom. Clearly someone had spent a great deal of time smoking in the bathroom and the fan / ventilation is only fractionally functional to begin with. Disgusting to bathe and refresh in an area when you'll only walk out smelling of smoke. Also, in support of other reviewers this is our third room within the property and none of the rooms have been jetted tubs.

Our room was located in the heart/opex of ongoing construction, with constant banging, and disruptive noise, and even knocks on our door throughout the day and night. This is certainly not a place for a peaceful vacation. The construction limits access to key amenities, including the lobby and restaurant, and while the fitness center is well appointed and definitely fantastic, the noise in the room is unbearable. No quiet hours are respected, and we left utterly exhausted and violated.

To make matters worse, a group of young adults partied next door for nearly 12 hours. After reporting the disturbance, someone tried to enter our room shortly after. The experience was deeply unsettling.

BEWARE: Despite having the Do Not Disturb sign hung on the door in both my initial and my second stay at this hotel, I've found staff will take liberty to override guest rights by using their master key card to access the door despite being occupied with a guest. In fact, as I was speaking to the Front Desk Manager on the phone, for the second time in the same morning, staff entered the room using their master key card.

Even after receiving an assurance from the Front Desk Manager that he'd contacted the Director of Housekeeping to ensure no one else would barge into the room again, while unclothed, the master key was used again to open and attempt access to the room. This is clearly a sign of a lack of or poor communication regarding a critical customer issue.

During this temporary construction set up, hotel security is compromised. Meaning, the hotel is easily accessed by non-guests at all hours.

Our stays were blatantly contrasting, and the second stay was for the worse, at this point, I do not recommend Seagate which disappoints me but the facts surrounding our guest experience are just that, facts.

The second stay was a disappointment and an absolute waste of money during slow season AND a slow national and global economy which is a deep concern for me.

It'll be interesting to see how this hotel changes / improves post-renovation particularly the guest experience especially during the competitiveness of the upcoming...

I’ve had one negative experience after another at the Seagate. I stayed a few weeks ago while evacuating from Sarasota for Hurricane Milton. I am a single mother of a small toddler and I had to bring my pets with me as well. I was traveling alone trying to manage them all by myself. When I arrived and checked in after driving in traffic for over 5 hours, I needed to take my dog for a walk to stretch his legs and let him go to the bathroom but I couldn’t leave the room because my door was broken and wouldn’t lock or close. I had to wait for maintenance to come and fix it before I could take my son and my dog downstairs. The next day I had a leak in my ceiling dripping all over the bathroom and bedroom. Maintenance had to come and fix the issue and I was told room service would come and clean the mess. When I asked how long it would take because I had to take my dog and my toddler downstairs, they said 20 minutes total but it took them 1 hour and 25 minutes to finish. I was stuck downstairs in a limited space due to renovations trying to manage my child and my puppy. Next, the water never got very warm and my son wouldn’t shower because he was too cold. I tried to run the bath but the water was yellow and cold. The next day, we took the shuttle to a local petting zoo a few minutes away. When I called for pickup they didn’t arrive until over an hour later. I was waiting with my toddler outside and had 1% battery on my phone. I had to contact the hotel several times to see if they were still picking us up. When I complained about my stay, I they said they would credit me the resort fee back. Most of the resort was closed anyway due to the hurricane, and when I checked my checking statement, I had a $500 charge that no one sent me a receipt about or discussed with me. I was also told the card would only be used for incidentals. When I called to ask what this $500 charge was for, they said their guess was that it was for a hold and would be credited back. I called again and requested a receipt. It wasn’t sent to me. I called a third time to request again, and finally someone sent it to me. I was charged valet for 2 cars. I only brought one car as I was alone with my child and pets. I was also charged the resort fee I was told would be waived (and keep in mind none of the beach club amenities were even open). I have since tried to speak to a manager multiple times, and the call never goes through. I end up getting dropped. I was told a manager would call me. No one will contact me about these issues. I am very very unhappy about my experience and especially about being overcharged and no one taking responsibility and crediting this back! I’m already struggling as a single mom and had to miss work for the entire week. Now they’re charging me money I don’t have for things I shouldn’t be...

This place is really overrated. My wife said this is the best hotel in town. It is far from it. The rooms are varying sizes but in our view past mid-life with carpets that we felt shouldn’t be walked on bare-footed or with socks. Worst BY FAR is the connection to the beach club that is supposed to make this place great. It is not walking didatance and they have extremely limited service. On one occasion it was so bad returning back from the beach that it became a “women and children” only where the men had to wait even longer than 20 minutes in the heat for the next one. On another occasion the wait was so long to get a shuttle from the hotel to the beach that they were calling Ubers. I came in to complain after 30 minutes and the manager, Anton, said it was a busy weekend and nothing they could do. I even suggested he come out to see how frustrated people are outside and frankly offer Uber/lyft rides, and he was dismissive.

I actually started writing this review in the front lobby in front of the hotel manager. Then my wife, the person who always tells me not to get upset, came in fuming at the manager. Besides at me, I’ve only seen her do that once in nearly two decades of marriage. Again, to a very dismissive front manager.

Finally, the bus arrived nearly one hour wait around noon. Another professional looking employee was guiding some of the now many guests into the shuttle bus. A youthful 65+ year old guest entering the van was complaining the this employee, and brushed aside disrespectfully. I continued her concern to this employee, and her first response after hearing our complaint was “this is how we operate our shuttle.” No understanding, no apologies, completely dismissive. A shuttle full of people were complaining of how bad things were.

I am finishing this review on my last day (finally) at the beach. I’m still fuming at how a whole group of people were treated. Even being understanding to the completely avoidable operational issues, the manner in which guests were treated is completely unacceptable. All the guests were good people and we work hard to earn moments of luxury. I really don’t think there is anything this place could do to make me and my wife come here with our family. On behalf of the 40+ guests that went through this and may not be as vocal, shame on you Seagate Hotel. You don’t deserve to be in business.

PS: forgive me to those who see this review elsewhere (except management). It is only to do maximum good to others/maximum damage to Seagate hotel with minimal extra...
