IT'SUGAR was founded by Jeff Rubin. His father owned a chain of toy stores before going into candy. Jeff worked in the family business and then went out on his own. Some early projects included designing candy stores inside of FAO Schwartz and Toys R' Us and working with Dylan's Candy Bar in Manhattan. In 2006 the first IT'SUGAR opened on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ. Ten years later 100 stores were opened and it was one of the fastest growing candy retailers in the country.
All of the stores are very bright and colorful. Candy can be purchased by the package or in bulk. The reason to come here is to find the one of a kind that you won't see anywhere else. Candy is name brand and offered in mega sizes and they also have a private label that sells things like the line they developed with Saturday Night Live, Schweddy Balls. Besides candy, IT'SUGAR also sells funny novelty items, accessories, and clothes.
I came into the store to find a small birthday gift for my friend. I had already given her a real gift but since I am going to see her on her actual birthday I wanted a little something more. I was in the Delray Marketplace and passed by this candy store and it sparked the idea of seeing if they had any birthday theme candy. While looking around the store I spotted pickle flavored cotton candy, Flying Cauldron Butter Beer, Bob Ross positive energy drinks, candy from the 80's, gummy flower bouquets, and giant Snickers bars. At the register I found just what I came in for, a birthday cake candy bar and party cake peeps. Of course the new and unusual doesn't come cheap. My two candy items were over $8. Bulk candy is a hefty $15 a pound. A dollar donation to Make a Wish with your purchase gets you a thank you star shaped lollipop. Despite what I feel are kind of high prices, I was happy with my purchase and the stores are conveniently located near me so I am sure I will be back the next time I...
Read moreI have always gone to this location until a few months ago when they changed management I started going to the Boca location because the new manager sucks I had to run into Delray market place one day since I live and work in this area. My mother made a mistake and dropped their glass vodka bottle and the heavy set guy that works there just sat there and did nothing to help. He did not offer a broom or any assistance. I called and spoke to Christina and she said she would handle it and I really hope she did. I never wanted to go back into that store again that was awful and embarrassing. I had to run in one day because Publix didn’t have the Drak choc snow caps (non pareils) They have a new woman working there named Kierra she was so wonderful to me and my elderly mother she explained everything so perfectly. I really appreciated her kindness I never leave reviews but I thought I’d leave this today because I want someone to acknowledge this women and how she made me and my mother feel after not wanting to come back. The higher ups need to really go to the store and help run it. It’s to many elderly in this area for someone like that heavy set guy. Please reward Kierra for her beautiful soul and how she is adding to the company. I only give 5...
Read moreI love these shops, but the prices are a little ridiculous. At $16 a pound, it’s kind of insane. It doesn’t stop me from coming here with my kids, but due to the price we do it in frequently and only as a special treat. I’m a sucker for Gummies too. I love that you can mix and match whatever you want. The atmosphere and decor makes it even more exciting for the kids. Service is very standard, I do like how they offer you samples, considering they charge so much. They have to be making money, these places are always full anytime a day. I will go back as my kids love the place and so do but again, we usually go only for special occasions or when we’re...
