Rosa's Daughter: Where Manners Go to Die
I recently had the misfortune of visiting Rosa's Daughter for the third time, and I must say, the experience was so consistently dreadful that I've decided it's my last visit. It seems that Rosa's Daughter was raised without the slightest hint of manners, and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience.
Upon entering, both hostesses, who's only job is to be in charge of the beginning part of the dining experience, made it abundantly clear that accepting me as a dining guest was an act of unparalleled charity on their part. Their faces wore expressions as if they were doing me a favor, and smiles were as rare as a unicorn sighting. It appears their rudeness is a well-rehearsed routine, a performance that I, unfortunately, witnessed on all three of my visits and many other reviewers have mentioned yet they still exist!
During the last visit, the hostesses informed, with a snarky voice and tone, that we could sit, but we had to vacate the premises within two hours. While we had no intention of lingering for an eternity, the delivery of this message left me flabbergasted. It was as though we were being timed like contestants in a game show, with the hostess as our unsympathetic game master.
The blonde waitress assigned to our table seemed to have missed the memo on basic manners. Her lack of a smile and evident disdain for her job were palpable. It felt as though we were intruding on her personal space by daring to be seated in her section. Her service was a masterclass in indifference, with a side of eye-rolling.
The food expeditor, perhaps unaware of the concept of table organization, dropped our plates in the wrong spot. When we politely pointed this out, he shrugged and casually mentioned it was only his second day on the job, as if this justified the culinary chaos he left in his wake.
To add insult to injury, when the check arrived, our waitress snatched the receipts off the table with such haste that it felt like a petty magic trick. My hand was nearly taken along with them, leaving me to wonder if my money was as unwelcome as my presence.
It's clear that Rosa's Daughter is a family business with serious training issues. The staff, from the hostesses to the waitstaff, seems to have missed the memo on basic hospitality. It's almost as if the owner has thrown her hands up in the air, resigned to the chaos that reigns within her establishment. Ironically, their sister restaurant, a well-oiled machine we've frequented for 15 years, stands in stark contrast to this train wreck of a dining experience.
In conclusion, if you're in the mood to support a kind family business that will politely welcome you, do yourself a favor and walk right past Rosa's Daughter. Your sanity will...
Read moreOur visit to this restaurant left much to be desired. While the food didn’t impress, the service was what truly affected the overall experience. The restaurant was packed, and it was clear that they were understaffed for the number of patrons. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and stressed, which only added to the discomfort of the evening.
My wooden bench seat in the enclosed back patio was wet which I didn’t realize until I sat on it leaving me uncomfortable for the evening. It was loud and noisy with no entertainment. Online it said music. There is music playing in the background, but you can’t hear it over the baby screaming for a lot of our visit and patrons trying to speak over it.
The margaritas were a letdown—too much ice for the price and not enough tequila, although the flavor itself was nice. I also asked for an orange slice twice but never received it. The Caesar salad had olives in it, which was unexpected and frankly, a bit baffled. When we asked the waiter about it, he seemed irritated, insisting they were listed, which when we checked, they were listed, but not a good addition to a Caesar salad. The dressing tasted very fishy. I asked for balsamic vinegar and was given a thick sweet balsamic glaze and oil on the side. It didn’t taste very good at all.
The real confusion came with the Branzino Oreganata. The dish didn’t give any clear indication that it was fish-based. It had only a few shrimp. It was watery and I got sick during the night from it. When it arrived with fish on top, we asked the waiter about it, only to be met with a condescending response—apparently, it's in the name. We had no idea that Branzino referred to a fish, and the waiter's attitude made us feel embarrassed for asking. It was a frustrating exchange.
The highlight of the meal was the chocolate mousse dessert, which was absolutely decadent. A solid 10/10. This would be best kept as a desert and coffee bar possibly. Another bright spot was a young man named Niketo, who was bussing tables. He was warm, friendly, and engaging, and we thought he would’ve made a great waiter. Sadly, we didn’t meet him until later in the meal, but he was the kind of person who seemed to genuinely care about the customers.
Overall, this visit was disappointing, and I don’t think we’ll be returning anytime soon. The service and communication were lacking, but it’s clear there are staff members, like Niketo, who could have made the experience...
Read moreIf you want to come here, make sure to reserve ahead! We were walking around the area and had many locals suggest this restaurant so we knew we had to give it a try. The wait was 45 minutes and the establishment was absolutely packed! There were many other parties waiting to be seated as well. Although we were hungry, we were willing to wait since everyone raved about this place. It did not disappoint but there are some details that made it place as four stars instead of five.
To begin, our waitress was nice towards the end but in the beginning of her serving us she was extremely flustered and responded a bit rudely. We were trying to get our order in since we figured it'd take a while and she immediately turned around and said we need to wait and be patient with an aggressive tone. I understand the restaurant was busy but she should know how to manage stress and not take it out on the customers. She did calm down after the first encounter but she should have been friendly the entire time. I also did not like the fact the restaurant seemed to be operating at full capacity. We could barely move around the tables with how many people there were. Not very covid friendly.
As for the food, it was amazingly delicious. I do believe the bread should be provided since the prices are so high but that's a minor detail. I enjoyed the drinks I ordered and everyone at the table loved their meals. We even shared around the table so everyone could try each dish. The chicken parmesan was perfectly crusted and full of flavor. Same for the pizzas and pasta. We loved the cauliflower since it was so fresh and flavorful. Overall, there are no complaints with the food. You could probably order anything off the menu and it'd be tasty. I recommend trying this restaurant out but would highly suggest coming at a time that's not so busy for the...
