Egg House Cafe — Restaurant in Denton

I am conflicted about giving this place 1 star, and dragged my feet on leaving this review, because this used to be my absolute favorite breakfast place in town. I recommended it to everyone, spent several Saturday mornings there, and brought all my friends and family at some point. I met a group of friends here to have brunch for my birthday, back in August, and after the way we were treated I haven't been back since. They had never taken reservations in the past, but since there were going to be 8 of us, I decided to call ahead and at least give them a heads up the day before. When I spoke to the host, he said he was glad that I called because they had just recently started taking reservations for big parties. I gave him the number in our party and said that we would like to come in at 11am. He stated that the time we wanted wouldn't work because there was a big party for a Reunion already booked for that time. He offered a 10am reservation instead. That worked for everyone, so I agreed to that time. My friends and I met there at 10am, I was able to order my favorite dish, and I was thoroughly enjoying my birthday. I was mostly finished eating, but still enjoying my coffee, and then the host came over and ruined our brunch. He gave us our checks before we were even finished eating and drinking, and then had the nerve to ask us all to leave because they needed the table. I am 45 years old, have eaten in too many restaurants to count, in too many countries to count, and I have NEVER been asked to leave. Just so everybody knows, I am not dramatic or a complainer. I am typically a pretty pleasant customer. I tip very well, I am a kind person, and leave a good review at almost every place I dine at. I am APPALLED at the host's behavior, and the fact that he didn't come up with any other solution to his problem besides asking paying customers to leave. The restaurant was not full at the time either, we counted at least 3 tables that seated 4 people that were empty, so other tables could have been pushed together for the other party waiting. Or he could have even talked to us about the situation and asked us if we would be willing to move to another table to finish our food and drinks. I'm a pretty reasonable person, but that was poor planning on his part. To ask a party of 8 to be finished eating within an hour is not that feasible. If he would have spoken with us when we got there, we would have gladly waited for a different section to open up, since they obviously needed that section for the 11am reservation. Especially since we only needed 2 tables. Poor planning on his part, should not have resulted in asking people to leave and losing repeat customers. Seated immediately at 1130, no server-2 other couples seated after us got coffee, water juice- still no server. 1145-Understandably upset, I asked hostess where our server was-maybe on break, maybe we hadnt been assigned one yet. She chose to deal with some guy who came in selling muffins after telling me just a minute. Manager came out at my request and upset, I raised my voice to express my displeasure-he said thats it out. Another couple said if they go we go. Very disappointing-was looking for a place for breakfasts, new to town. Went down the street to North Point Cafe-much nicer and friendly.

The event of the above review was witnessed by me. The person who wrote the review was yelling and causing a HUGE disturbance and acting all entitled. The manager told him that he was sorry and that he would get the waitress right over and he kept apologizing....but the customer just kept yelling and yelling and the manager asked him repeatedly to "please stop yelling" and he just kept going so the manager asked him to leave. Had to ask him several times and the customer just kept on yelling and the manager said he would call the police. You just don't act like that in public. In case you haven't heard there is a shortage of workers pretty much everywhere. Instead of being patient and accepting the manager's apology and offer to "make it right for you", it wasn't good enough. You had to go make a scene. So, yes, you were asked to leave. Your mama should have taught you better. EggHouse is a great place to eat!!! The food is always wonderful and on the off chance that one of the human beings who works there makes a mistake, it's easily worked out. I’m a food blogger, I came to this place expecting great and service, but it was the total opposite. It was my first time coming to this place to write a review for my blog, I came with my boyfriend and we waited nearly an hour for our food. People who came before and after us got their food and left while we were still waiting for ours. They never bothered to come to our table to check up on us until I had to asked our server when our food was going to come out. Once we got our food, it was cold and tasted like microwave food. I’m pretty sure the owner was there and didn’t care much about the service his place was giving to the customers. I never mention about me being there as a food blogger for my review at their place and I’m glad I didn’t because I can see that their service is as bad as their food. We ordered a cheese omelette, veggie omelette, hash browns, and Belgian waffles. The food was lacking flavor and so bland, the cheese omelette was dry, the veggie omelette turned into scrambled, hash brown was way undercooked and mushy (how can you even messed up on hash browns?) the only thing that came out good was the Belgian waffles. If they were to messed up that I would’ve just returned my order, I also ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice and clearly it was not fresh.

I also read through the review about this place, and a few of them the owner reply but the way he/she reply was very unprofessional and very rude, if you run a business especially a food industry, then expect feedback and work on it to make it better for the long run. Also make sure you check up on ALL your customers, as I sat and waited for an hour for my food, I noticed how they checked up on almost on every single table but yet with us we sat there like we were...
