The name of this park and community garden should be "Residental Community Garden" and also a larger, much larger noticable sign or warning sign, I should say...should be placed directly in front of the garden. The sign should say "LOCAL community residents access ONLY" I'm so upset. We are not from this area and I googled parks near me to go to while my mother daughter and I were waiting for a prescription to be filled and found this one I thought it would be awesome to go here the play ground looked nice and I saw it has a community garden and fruit orchid so I was like yay maybe my daughter can eat a tomato or a peach like from a real natural garden, We dont have nor ever been to a actual garden or ate from one. So we got here my daughter bolted to the garden ran passed all the (tiny) signs and then We proceeded to pick about 4 or 5 onions (there were over 50 planted) 2 radishes and one potato plant. Then we went to the playground and set our little bag of veggies on the bench then there's a lady with a dog that you just walked over was looking at a are bag of veggies vividly then said that those were hers and that it's not for everyone visiting the park its only for the people that live near by and then she told me how hard she worked to plant them and then I told her she can take them back and it was a honest mistake she went off on me and was so rude and disrespectful I told her that she should get a bigger sign or grow a garden in her yard not right by a city park if she doesn't want anyone in her "private" garden its freaking stupid they need to fix the name...
Read moreThe city stole my jumbo prized radishes. They were clearing debris from the garden and noticed my extra large radishes and couldn't contain their desire to have them. They had assumed these were end-of-season left-overs and didn't realize that they were the only ones I had planted and grown. So they thought they could take them and that I wouldn't mind. Well I do mind, because they were the only ones I had grown, and I was looking forward to eating them, and giving a few to my dear neighbor as a nice present. Now they have dashed my hopes. Each jumbo radish would have weighed several pounds and would have provided a weeks worth of nutrition. The day before the clearing the radishes were there. Five months of feverishly growing radishes nurturing them day after day, and then in the end for no benefit of me but for the benefit of selfish city workers who didn't participate one iota to the labor I had put into them. Shame on them. Those radishes were priceless to me as they were record sizes and took lots of effort on my part to make them that way. My neighbor would have been so delighted with such a wonderful prize. I didn't get to eat a single radish or share with my dear neighbor. The city should compensate me $1000 for this...
Read moreSimple little community park. Nice playground, although small; Water fountain, picnic tables benches... no bathrooms, but this park is meant for the people who live in the neighborhood. This is also where Denton has the community gardens set up. You can rent a 4x8 or 5x10 (I'm not exactly clear on the size) plot and do some small scale gardening / farming. Great way to test it out without messing up your yard. Or if you live in an apartment, this gives you a...
