We recently had the pleasure of dining at Hauoli Poke Teppan with our family, including our 4 and 8-year-old kids. The restaurant exceeded our expectations in terms of both the quality of the food and the overall dining experience.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff who promptly seated us at a comfortable and well-spaced table. The ambiance was inviting, with a modern yet cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The attention to detail in the restaurant's decor and lighting added to the overall pleasant dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the food! We ordered a variety of dishes to cater to our family's diverse tastes, and we were thrilled with every single one of them. The salmon poke was an absolute standout, with its fresh, melt-in-your-mouth texture and perfectly balanced flavors. The Hibachi shrimp and veggie dish was a crowd-pleaser, beautifully cooked and seasoned to perfection. The eel rolls were another highlight of our meal. The sushi chef clearly demonstrated their skill and artistry in crafting these rolls. The eel was incredibly tender, and the combination of flavors with the rice and accompanying ingredients was simply exquisite.

In addition to the outstanding food, the service at Hauoli Poke Teppan was top-notch. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and patient, especially with our young children. They went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was comfortable and enjoyable.

This is my favorite spot in Denton whenever I’m craving a poke bowl! Their Build Your Own Poke Bowl is my go-to – I usually go with ahi tuna and sometimes add spicy tuna or tempura shrimp as a second protein, then load up on all the fresh toppings. Their combination fried rice is also a solid pick if you’re looking for something extra filling.

Everything’s always fresh, and you can add tons of toppings (avocado and cream cheese cost extra, but most toppings are included). My favorite sauce mix is the spicy mayo and ponzu. Plus, they always throw a little treat in the to-go bag, like Starburst, which I think is a great touch.

During Lent, especially on Fridays, it can get pretty packed, but most of the year it’s a nice, quiet spot for lunch. Parking at lunchtime can be a bit tricky, though – I’ve sometimes had to park by McAlister's or the Armed Forces Career Center and walk over, or drive around until a spot opens up. I usually order online, and while I wish they had an app to make it even easier, their service is impressively fast. I had 3 of their dishes today. The Alaskan Roll, Houston Roll, and the shrimp tempura bowl. The Alaskan Roll is 8 delicious sushi rolls with salmon that practically melts in your mouth and was the first one I ate of the 3. The Houston Roll is 8 sushi rolls with shrimp tempura that is to die for. The rice melts in your mouth and you are left with a crispy shrimp tempura in your mouth. The shrimp tempura bowl is absolutely delicious with light tones of mango. The shrimp tempura is marvelous and balances out the crab and avocado.

When we ordered the food was served within 5 minutes and the display on the plates was wonderful.

Atmosphere is great with good music and dog videos playing on the TV. This is a great spot for great food at a reasonable price and relaxation.
