You know how some chains open a new location seamlessly and others are a hot mess? This was the latter, at least at first.
My husband went about a week after they opened. He is extremely laid back and forgiving, and has a soft spot for Burger King. So imagine my surprise when I receive a flurry of texts stating the visit was an absolute fail. A new store with a floor that's a mess, all the ketchup packets sticking together and employees giving out food while stating they don't know what it is- man that's unacceptable.
He was further upset the following Wednesday morning when he came in at breakfast time and the employee interrupted him to say they were out of sausage. Needless to say, I wasn't really impressed by what I was hearing, nor wanting to go in and see it for myself.
Yet, we ended up here at the end of June while running errands in the area because my husband wanted to see if they had improved after being open for a month. I would say they did. It wasn't a fantastic visit, but it will do for a new location- assuming they stay on top of their ordering, cleaning and training their employees.
We stopped by around 10am on a Saturday, there were several customers dining in and nobody in line. I went with French toast sticks and my husband got a sausage biscuit and a ham croissant.
Service was really odd and awkward, but I think they were attempting to make a good impression and were perhaps nervous or over eager. At least one of them was a manager, so at least they are trying on that front.
The counter, drink station and our table were all fairly clean. This layout is different than I am used to. It seems experimental as they have different seating options- a long high top, regular tables, half booths and several cushy seats. I could tell the location was new, so it seems they worked out their cleanliness kinks from the first few weeks.
The food was as expected. My experience when testing a Burger King is to get lunch, not breakfast, so I waited until we returned about a month later. We went through the drive-thru on a Friday afternoon, between the two meal rushes.
We wanted to try out the new tacos...but they were out. We each got a whopper and shared fries and a drink. Service through the drive-thru was friendly and efficient, the person who helped us had some personality. The burgers were an absolute mess, just slapped together, but they did taste pretty good and were better than anything on the breakfast menu.
I'm by no means impressed, but they are showing improvement so I'll give them a 3 star...

We called because the day before, the lobby was closed due to bad weather. We were greeted and helped within just a seconds. The inside was still very clean and taken care of. The coupon we used was able to be done with no problems. Drink machine in working order. Front staff is great! We ordered 3 whoppers with cheese, 3 small fries, and 3 cheeseburgers with mustard only. We got our food in a reasonable time....but all of it incorrect. The whoppers all had no cheese, and the cheeseburgers all had ketchup only. We noticed the whoppers with no cheese first, which were promptly corrected by the staff once brought to their attention. Unfortunately this meant cold cheese on all of the whoppers. We dined in so we were then able to notice all of the cheeseburgers made incorrectly. The staff did remake it and was kind about it, but we are disappointed that all of our food was made wrong. I was happy in the 2/16 review to have a great BK location with everything seemingly perfect but after this experience I am sad to say we likely won't go back.
2/16 4 star review:I went in on 2/16 around 8:00PM. I was greeted and helped within just a few seconds. The inside was so clean and beautiful. I was very impressed with this location. I had a coupon and was able to use it with no problems. The soda machine up front was down at the time but the people behind the counter filled our drinks at the machine in the back. Our order was made 100% correct and in just a few short minutes. The whoppers were amazing. Very fresh lettuce, tomato, and onion and delicious patties. My dr. Pepper was great but the sprite was a little on the syrupy side with less carbonation. The fries were good, but could’ve been just a touch more fresh with slightly less salt. I would highly recommend the Denton University Burger King to anyone who loves a clean environment, kind staff, great food, fair prices, and an overall enjoyable experience. I will go again, even...
Read moreI’m going to use this review as a generalization is what I experience In this country nowadays. Young people who have dark skin do not treat people with lighter skin color with appreciation and a smile even in the fast food industry . things that has happened in human history things that are going on now in this country should not interfere in the customer service industry and then I don’t receive service with a smile . cameras need to be displayed in the drive-through windows and any person no matter the color of skin should be removed from service industry if they cannot greet a person of lighter skin with a smile and a thank you. I am making a stand because I am tired of being typecast it now because of my skin color and the current political unrest in this country. and I am willing to state that because I don’t vote I have nothing to do with the current or past problems between the races . As a matter of fact I am not racist at all I do not see skin color except that media keeps pointing out our differences . I wish the uneducated would catch on to this ploy that it seems there are interest in this country to keep us fighting with one another over stupid and petty issues . and I hope still in the human race that we would become in lightened and realize our flight is not amongst each other but against those that are trying to make us fight each other . Skin color is not a Defining quality that identifies each of us as a member of the human race. The old oppressor has been removed, But are we facing the next...
