We went here on a whim after reading that our favorite place, US Thai, seems to be under new management and people have been saying that the food is not very good now. I read that this is a side project of Swing Thai and we've never been so I cannot speak to that. What I will say is that if I could give the service and food two different ratings, I would. Our waiter, Zand, was a dream. He is what every waiter should be and he is born to be around people. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were going to have a good time, regardless of the food. He was so attentive, friendly, and our kids, 3 and 1, were enamored by him. By the end of the meal he was feeding my son and carried him to the back of the kitchen to meet the staff lol. The menu here is small for a Thai restaurant, but I think that's a good thing. The place is small and allows them to perfect a few dishes, so the menu really just has the highlights of what are the most popular Thai dishes. I thought the food was good, definitely not the best Thai I've ever had. It tasted a bit "americanized" in my opinion. . . like all of the flavors could've been boosted. We had the vegetable egg rolls which were good, maybe a touch greasy. The salad with the peanut dressing was wonderful and a fun fusion dish for sure. The Tom Yum soup wasn't the best I've had but was PACKED with veggies. It was very limey, so if you like it that way, it's certainly tangy. My husband and I both got drunken noodle. I got mine mild because of the kiddos, but I think they could've even handled medium. My husband got medium and he wished he had gotten hotter for sure, but you never want to gamble and get too hot at a new place. Again, the drunken noodle was packed with tons of veggies that I'm not usually expecting in drunken noodle but I actually really appreciated it. The noodles were good and the flavor wasn't bad, just wish it had packed more of a punch. We also ordered green tea and Zand kept the mugs flowing. He was such a delight that we will come back again just to give him our money. Good service is hard to find and when someone loves on your family so well in the food service industry, or any industry, they deserve respect and support. We love you Zand! Lastly, our food came out incredibly fast. Granted, we went at 5 pm on a Sunday so the place wasn't slammed, but we ordered our food and it seemed like fast food moments later,...
Read moreHey Bangkok is such a welcome respite from the super classy over the top type of place. When you wanna eat good, reasonably priced really good Thai Street style dishes come here! It's so cute inside!l It looks effortlessly mom n pops decorated theme but it takes a lot to get a place to look that good!
When we walked in I was taken aback by the off white tiles that sorta looks like it's been there forever! The building itself used to be a Texaco in the 40's. Jay and Duke the wife ( Duke yeah I know, she has the cool name) started their venture with Swing Thai which is now replaced by Hey Bangkok!
The kitchen. Loaded with the necessary to give their customers the best result. The chicken is cooked in this contraption that results in this highly addictive and could seriously give any fried chicken in town a run for their money!
Twelve dishes with photos. On their menu or on site above the cash register. Open everyday 11:00-9:00. No rest for the wickedly ambitious 😊✋.
We tried five of their twelve dishes. Don't even think about asking me which one I favor the most! I'd say all of them! Bold flavors with again-reasonably priced dishes and great portions! Amen!
What to expect: Masked customers are definitely welcome. Sick? You're not welcome. Table arrangements are Covid distanced. 🥵 Awesome parking space. Cool factor. Definitely here!
Do not look for this: Patio. Noise level of the street is not acceptable. Contactless pay. They're working on it. For now swipe or stick your card in.
I am a major fan! I wanted to go back yesterday but I had to stop myself. Too much of a good thing shouldn't be eaten every day. Yeah I definitely had that in mind. I'm bad that way. Breath...but looking for a no good reason to go there today with a girl friend...lol
Check out my photos. Btw- I think the Chicken Platter and the Pad Gra Pow I thought stood out. But no wait- they all stood out. So...
Read moreI have ordered from here a few times because I live nearby, and it has been consistently decent food, nothing special, but at least it [WAS] fair prices and filling. I just deleted the old 4star review I had to write this one.
Today I ordered 2 meals for us and portions were small and not great. 7 mini pieces of tofu in curry for $17. Plus a small spoonful of veggies!... How much cheaper can you be?! The chicken platter used to come with 2 sizable pieces of chicken and today I got 1 no bigger than what you get on a fast food chicken sandwich. The peanut salad side normal has thick creamy dressing and today it was literally watered down. And gross.
Lots of noodles and rice for each dish. I can cook noodles and rice at home but I wanted something better than that. Today I bought garbage. We got the exact same order less than a month ago and it was very good and what was expected that time. Thanks for stiffing us today
I regret giving you a tip. This was garbage today and I'm never eating here again. Please shut down so another restaurant can move in. Or just make better food again and don't be so...
