If you're searching for the best Mediterranean food in Denver, you absolutely have to check out Zaman Mediterranean Fresh in the Washington Park neighborhood! From the moment you walk in, you'll notice how clean and inviting the place is. But the real star here is the food, which we tried a LOT of with no regrets. Everything is made fresh in-house, and you can really taste the difference.
The hummus is super creamy, and the falafel is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside... Easily the best falafel we've ever tasted and the plate presentation was so pretty. The fatoosh salad with pomegranate dressing was fresh and tangy, I added a chicken kabob on the side and it was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The gyro sandwich is a classic done right and the complimentary lentil soup for in-house diners had a deliciously subtle flavor that was oddly comforting.
Now let's talk about the za'atar and cheese pie. The dough, the flavor, the cheese, and the CRUNCH. I've never had something like this before and it changed my life. I can easily see why it's one of their best sellers!
Rola at the counter was super kind and helpful, making the whole experience even better. And for dessert, take a piece of their baklava to-go. It's a generous portion with plenty of filling. And don't miss the frozen strawberry juice! It’s refreshing and sweet, and reminded me of a slushy popsicle.
We're Denver tourists and would definitely make the drive back just to eat here again! Especially for the za'atar...
Read moreI grew up on Middle Eastern food and I'm always in search of those flavours reminiscent of my childhood. Wow! Zaman hit a home run for me. I took my brother, who's visiting from out of town, and we feasted! Earlier in the morning, he had commented that nobody makes tabouli salad like I had in my refrigerator, homemade with plenty of fresh chopped parsley. We found the Zaman tabouli spot on, served with fresh pitas - warm & puffy; a perfect compliment to our whole meal. I was thrilled that Zaman had kibbeh (torpedos) on the menu, typically very hard to find in the Denver area, let alone done right. The baba ganoush and hummus were amazing, and the chef treated us to some wonderful sambusak. Grape leaves to leave us wanting for more! Everything - so fresh and yummy. Of course we couldn't resist taking home some baklava and another fabulous looking pastry brimming with pistachio; though haven't tried those yet because we were stuffed from our lunch feast.
I hope this spot does well, and it can embrace opportunities for catering - cuz they've got a great thing going. Try it for sure,...
Read moreI gotta start by saying this could be your best spot in town for Pizza / Fried chicken let alone the “REAL” Middle Eastern food that I couldn’t find anywhere else in Denver. The reason I mentioned Pizza and Fried chicken first is because that wouldn’t be expected from a Middle Eastern restaurant but trust me when I say the Pizza is very comparable to one that you find in the best restaurants on the East Coast and the Fried Chicken is not spicy/greasy like most places but has a unique taste and comes with a variety of dipping sauce. I also ordered a rice and chicken Kabob plate on a different occasion ,the chicken was very tender and spices weren’t overwhelming. I also noticed that they pay attention to tiny details in the plate presentation , like adding 2 different types of pickles and a grilled pita-bread at the bottom of the plate . Last but not least , the shawarma is very similar to ones that I’ve had overseas in Dubai and Doha , the chicken portion in the sandwich is very generous and is not over spiced. I will be back to try...
