Edit to respond: I've been a barista before. Your commentary is ludicrous + typical bigotry dressed up using progressive buzzwords. No one is expecting you to be a police or therapist, you are just making up circular nonsense. No one was being threatened. Your baristas and management need to grow up and stop lashing out aggressively at people you presume to be homeless, using veneer of "fear" as excuse. Again, I've been a barista before and dealt with many homeless customers. The behavior of your baristas/management AND response are totally unprofessional.
One time I was here + as I was about to walk into bathroom, I heard a homeless man ask if he could use the restroom. He was denied- I decided to walk after him + offer to buy him something. I then started to walk back to bathroom myself (as I'd never made it)- the manager (?) popped up from the back to tell me I wasn't allowed to use the restroom. He'd seen me come back inside with the homeless man + pounced on me. My belongings, including coffee/pastry I'd purchased, were sitting on the table the whole time. I wound up yelling, went to the bathroom, then promptly left after. Haven't been to any Huckleberry location since.
I just want to note that I actually wound up paying double the amount (buying both myself + then the other man items), so the manager (?) should've been grateful for the extra money. At the very least, if he was more observant, this wouldn't have been an issue. He was in the back the whole time until he saw a homeless person to harass wander in (+ then made false assumptions about me, seeing me walk back in with the man- while the items I had JUST purchased were sitting on the table, nobody nearby- and while the man himself was purchasing something else).
[FWIW the coffee kinda sucks anyway, I used to go here due to...
Read moreIt's cold and snowy today. After trekking an entire city block through these icy conditions to buy essential supplies, I walked out of the store and looked out at the journey ahead back home. I wasn't sure I was going to make it back. Low and behold, across the street, appearing like the White Castle in Harold and Kumar's journey, was this cute little coffee shop. Like a beacon of hope, nestled in a condominium building as if it were a warm modern day hobbit hole in Bilbo Baggin's Shire.
I step through the doors and feel warmth, both from the inviting atmosphere and the two friendly baristas. They gave me hope that their life giving food and drink will enable me to power through the frozen wasteland of 711's parking lot. Their menu sang to me, as if they foresaw my arrival and crafted it just for me. I walked out their doors holding my apple spiced london fog latte, crafted by a barista wizard, like it was flaming beacon and holding my satchel of precious fine pastries like a sack of gold. The drink was like a heavenly nectar that warmed my soul to the point my foot steps melted a path through the snow. It got me home. If you find yourself journeying through the Baker neighborhood, I highly recommend that you make a stop during your travels.
TL;DR - This place has super good food+drink and the baristas are amazing folks. I highly...
Read moreAfter seeing Huckleberry on a list of top 10 coffee shops in Colorado we jumped off the highway and headed to the location on South Broadway. While parking is primarily metered street parking it was easy to park and hop into the coffee shop. They had both indoor and outdoor seating available with the outdoor seeting getting morning sun for those chili morning in Colorado.
I got the cold brew with the flavor of the month which was lavendar and rosemary. I was impressed with the combination of flavors with the coffee, it made for a unique treat.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
I also asked one of the staff to tell me more about their roasted bean varieties that they sell. It was a great experience, you could tell that they have a real passion for their coffee roasting. I learned a lot about the different types and how they are processed to bring out different flavor profiles. I had never thought of coffee having a cherry flavor or an apple flavor before. I bought a bag which will run you $18.00 to $23.00 to take home, remember that you get what you pay for. I am looking forward to making my first...
