We (4 of us) walked in to meet a friend and have one last drink before heading home. The place was super empty for a Friday night. We took seats at the empty bar. Across and to the right of us, one of the bar tenders was serving a group of 4-5 guys some shots. We sat patiently waiting for one of the 2 bartenders to come by and get our drink order. It was 1am. We watched them begin to break down their bar. I've bartended before, so I know it's a good idea to start early, but I also know that if a guest sits at your bar, you acknowledge them, even if to say "sorry we're not serving any more drinks" or "it's last call, please order soon." We saw them running around cleaning, and we were waiting to hear back from our friend, so we patiently waited. Though the bartenders BOTH saw us sitting there for 5 minutes, neither of them walked over to greet us or get our drink order. As we sat there, two guys walked up to the far left side of the bar. The blonde bartender walked over to them and proceeded to get their drink order! I couldn't believe it. While she was taking their order, I walked over to literally look at the blonde bartender in the face and ask if we could get some drinks too. She looked at me and said "yeah" while giving me a nasty look as though I had asked her to do something other than her job. At that point, my group got up and we decided to go down the street and give someone else our money. I should've taken the empty bar on a Friday night as a sign of the quality of service at Jackson's. This only proves that the only reason you all have been able to stay in business at all is because of your location and proximity to sports venues. Poor service will eventually catch up to you (maybe it already is) and you will be put out of business. Maybe not in the near future, but it will happen unless you make changes. That was the first and last time we will ever step foot in your...
Read moreI’m not one to write negative reviews very often, in fact after managing restaurants for years, I try to keep them positive but after going tonight and feeling completely ripped off, I think it’s earned and I definitely would never go back. We went before a Rockies game during their happy hour. Everything felt sticky and dirty but the happy hour prices were very reasonable so we decided to stay and ordered what was on that menu. Honestly, the food was less than mediocre, some of it was borderline gross if I’m being honest (both my husband and I spit some of it out), but we thought for $2 a taco, what did we expect? The nachos were decent, but the steak on it wasn’t great, but again, we didn’t care since we thought it would be $8. After a super long wait to get our check and pay, we were handed a bill for $100. When I asked our server about it he told us that happy hour doesn’t happen on game nights. He was super nice about it but it was clear he wasn’t willing to do anything to even attempt to make it better and his reaction and apology made me feel like he knew this might happen, like maybe this happens all the time. We expected our bill to be less than $50, so the combination of our bill more than doubling our expectation and our food being so bad made me feel pretty sick. Again, we will not be back. I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreIf you're in Denver and looking for a lively and friendly bar experience, you have to check out Jacksons! This upstairs bar is located in the heart of the city and offers a fantastic atmosphere for a night out with friends or a romantic evening.
My fiancé and I were visiting from Florida and our Uber recommended we go to Jacksons which was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly staff and the great vibe of the place. The decor is hip and modern, with exposed brick walls and plenty of comfortable seating.
But what really made my night at Jacksons special was our bartender, Taylor. Not only was she attentive and prompt with our drinks, but she also had a fantastic personality and a cool sense of style with her rainbow hair. She made us feel right at home and kept us laughing and entertained while we finished our bucket of beer. I particularly enjoyed the local beers on tap, which were fresh and flavorful.
Overall, I would highly recommend Jacksons to anyone in downtown Denver and looking for a great place to grab a drink. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, the drinks are delicious, and the staff is top-notch. And be sure to say hi to Taylor when you're there - she's an awesome bartender and a real...
