Best Mexican in Colorado. It checks all the boxes. Quality, Presentation, Quantity, Price. I went during a blizzard and so everything could have dried out but no, everything was fresh and looked like it had been made minutes before I walked into the door. Due to the location, I will visit this restaurant every time I travel through DIA, fast counter service means I won't waste lots of time waiting for food while its location just off I-70 near Pena Blvd means it is not out of the way in the slightest. Any one coming from the airport visiting Denver or arriving back home should stop in and have some amazing Mexican to round out their trip or to start their vacation with a tasty meal.
Quality- All other aspects aside, the quality is there. The food is amazing, hands down the best I have tried in all of Colorado. Great flavors and authentic taste. The Best! The horchata is great, the salsa's are amazing. Great quality ingredients and it only gets better when they are combined. Rice is fresh, not crunchy and not soggy. The Mexican rice is very tasty. The beans are soft but not soggy. I have been served burned beans before, will ruin a burrito, but not here. The meats a full of flavor and have not been dried out. Cooked to the standard of amazing. Veggies and line salsas are fresh, spot on. I have never had a churro that made me say "wow, this is great" until I had one here. Bocaza resorted my faith in Churros because wow, it was amazing!
Cost- The price is unbeatable. Walking in and looking at the menu, you won't cringe knowing that the meal will cost you everything you made that morning. Cheaper than Top 5 known Mexican food chains.
Full Tummy- The quantity is there. I left full and happy from my entree. I had nothing to take home, meaning no take away doggy bag plastic or Styrofoam, just one reusable plate. That would make it an Eco friendly portion for those that care, while still filing me right up.
Presentation- the plate I was handed was clean, full and beautifully presented to me. It was truly picture worthy. It not only tasted delicious but it really...
Read moreWhen I first walked in, it reminded me of Chipotle because they make your burritos in front of you. The ingredients looked fresh and diverse.
I ordered two breakfast burritos, one with chicken and one with steak. They automatically come with a pre-made mix of egg and potato. They use red potatoes (which I love) and scrambled eggs. They add cheese and green chile. They’ll also add whatever ingredients you’d like as they have various burrito options. I just added avocado and nothing else.
Now let’s get to the taste and quality. I paid a little over $4 for each burrito, the size of a Taco Bell bean burrito. The green chile tasted more like a salsa verde than green chile. (This seemed like a traditional Mexican restaurant, so I wasn’t getting my hopes up on the chile, to begin with.) The chicken and steak were full of seasoning, but it was overbearing and drowned out the flavor of the “green chile.” Both types of meat were chopped into tiny pieces, which I didn’t care for. Then we have the egg and potato mix. The potatoes were cooked just right and seemed fresh, not frozen. There was hardly any egg at all in them. I had a few pieces in each burrito, a was usually flavorless. Needless to say, it’s not a good spot for breakfast burritos. Even Santiago’s would be a better choice for a breakfast burrito and that’s saying a lot.
I gave this place two stars for their food but I have an extra star because the staff was very friendly and courteous. I won’t be back for a breakfast burrito but I might give it a shot at the rest...
Read moreExcellent service. Good food and great variety/selection. I love trying tacos all over Denver and I would definitely recommend Bocaza. The pastor was great (especially with crema if you like that). The steak was also good. The marinated pork was good but not great. Several salsas to choose from. I had the green, hot and medium and all 3 were excellent. Everything tasted fresh and the meat was high quality and cooked well. I would have given 5 stars but I didn't love the marinade on the pork. Otherwise excellent.
Updated April 2022 consistently the best service of almost any restaurant I have been to in Denver. Have been to all kinds of places in Denver and this place has better service than just about anywhere including fancy sit down places that are way more expensive. I showed up at rush hour with an order for 8 ppl no call ahead (realized it was a coworkers bday and needed a last minute solution). I know jerk move on my part but they were so patient and accommodating and even suggested they would make my taco salad last so the shell didn’t get soggy while they made the other orders.food is great, service is truly unparalleled in the fast casual...
