Went here on Friday with a group of friends as we’d heard so much about this bar and wanted to experience it ourselves! Unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations.
I’ll start with the good. The vibes, as the kids say, were immaculate. It is a picture-perfect Instagram-worthy spot that had comfy seating, beautiful decor, and tons of space. It really was well designed, and if you’re looking just for a rooftop with nice vibes, you will have a blast.
Onto the bad. The cocktails are expensive. Now, I love myself other expensive cocktail bars in Denver and don’t mind shelling out some cash for a really wonderful drink, but these were not wonderful. All of the cocktails tasted similarly bland, and would’ve felt more at home at ViewHouse than an upscale cocktail lounge. I’ve had better sangria at my neighborhood coffee shop and it only costs $8 there, not the $16 I paid at Rare Bird.
The service was also pretty bad. When we first arrived, we were given menus that clearly had not been wiped off and were covered in some sort of sticky, cocktail residue. No worries, it happens, but after trying to flag down my waitress to get it replaced and being ignored, I ended up walking up to the bar to swap it out for a clean one.
Next, when the water cups were brought out, one was clearly dirty. No worries again, it happens, but when I gave it to the waitress to have it replaced, she never brought back a clean one. Fortunately my friend was alright sharing her water glass with me, but it was a little silly to be paying that much for drinks and having to share a water glass with my table mate.
Finally, the service was sloooooow. Half of the group arrived hungry and were going to order some snacks after we’d had a couple of drinks, however, our waitress never came back to check on us after delivering the second round. After about an hour at Rare Bird, we got fed up and called Quality Italian, got a reservation there, and ended up leaving. In our hour and a half at Rare Bird, we only managed to get two rounds of drinks, no food, and no refill on water.
Fortunately, Quality Italian was a 5/5. And the drinks there are...
Read moreAfter a fine meal at Quality Italian, we by mistake (pressed the elevator button letter “R”) arrived at the rooftop experience, Rare Bird. I wanted to point out the simply stunning ambience you are welcomed by when those elevator doors open. But even more impressive was the level of attentive service and care given by one particular staff member / bartender and I wanted to signify him directly by name because he was absolutely the epitome of excellent concierge level hospitality service. His name is Joan (yohan) H. He provided not only exemplary service, but quite honestly, was precisely what you want as a staff member of a restaurant or hotel. He went above and beyond to make sure that our party was completely cared for and ended almost every interaction with “it is my pleasure, whatever I can do” Joan clearly understood the assignment - I am not sure if he studied hospitality or hotel management in school, but it definitely shines through in his attentive care, his professional, yet charming and fun demeanor, and his overall level of expertise in the customer experience. I hope that his upper management gets a chance to read this review because it also shines through on their performance as well and in my estimation, a good team is a representation of solid leadership and training. Rare Bird / Halcyon should commend Joan for his performance because it was truly “rare” and quite...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a local gem, Rare Bird, where I was treated not only to delicious cocktails but also exceptional service! Our server, Cat, was an absolute star, recommending some truly unique cocktails that left a lasting impression. I was particularly taken with the "Mcaw me crazy, with the Midori” which wasn’t too sweet. But my personal favorite turned out to be the "Silly Goose," a delightful concoction that perfectly balanced flavors and brought a playful charm to the evening.
What made the experience even better was the server's wealth of knowledge. They took the time to share fascinating details about the venue’s exciting Friday Night Cinema in the Sky. The thought of watching a movie while floating in a pool, cocktail in hand, is simply irresistible!
I left feeling exhilarated and can’t wait to return next Friday. I’m already looking forward to enjoying my "Silly Goose" again as I watch a movie under the stars. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique cocktail experience and a...
