I have been coming to Syrup for the last few years and I have never been dissapointed... Until last Saturday. I have been to all three locations and normally the food is OUTSTANDING and the service is normally good as well. Well, not only was the food terrible but the service was as well. It was my son's birthday weekend so we went here for some breakfast. It's a little pricey (normally worth it) so we usually go on special occasions. Boy did I have buyers remorse that day. So much so when I was making breakfast this morning I thought about it and had to write the review. Let's start from the beginning. We were seated in a booth/table for four people when we had five. When we sat down I had my two older children join at the two person table next to us and I, my husband and toddler sat in the original seated table. Once the server arrived I explained that we had to have two tables because the host sat us at a table that was obviously too small. She rolled her eyes and was clearly annoyed that we occupied an additional table. When she asked us for our drink order. I let her know I wanted the baked apple pie pancake (always my favorite) and let her know I was telling her early because it usually takes some extra time to cook. It came out very fast - and was not even really warm. I am thinking it was cooked and never given to the purchaser or a reject pancake... Anywho, We placed the rest of the order and some other severs brought it out. The food was very poor quality. My oldest son's breakfast sandwich was one piece of soggy, fatty bacon placed on top of some burnt scrambled eggs that had pieces of lettuce and onions spread throughout, unmelted, hard cheddar cheese on a very small crossiant. He barely touched it because once he bit into an onion his stomach turned. I had a similar experience as my eggs were so "cooked" they were almost crunchy and the bacon was disgusting. The waitress barely stopped back by to refill our drinks let alone for me to let her know how horrible the food was. The entire bill was over 80 bucks and if I wasn't in a hurry to get to my son's planned birthday activities I would have spoke with a manager and not paid. I could have gotten a better meal for about a quarter of the price with probably better service at IHOP. We will not...
Read moreI went here this afternoon with my daughter. The WORST service ever! The hostesses were nice and promptly sat us, but we sat and sat and sat and waited for the server. A whole restaurant full of servers passed by us...I had to finally go up to a woman (I think the manager) to ask if someone could come over and take our order. The manager took it. We never saw anyone else besides the expo person when he dropped our food off. I had to go find someone to get boxes and the check. The woman behind the bar asked if everything was OK, and I had to tell her that we had not had a server the entire time and all I wanted was the boxes and the check so we could leave. Suddenly, a server appears at our table (35 mins after we first sat down) saying that she was the one who was supposed to be taking care of us and due to a "miscommunication" she did not realize we were her table. Really?? I waited tables in my 20s so I know that this is a lie. EVERY single server knows their station/tables. They just do. At ALL times. Tables=$$$ and there is no way that she didn't know our table which was one table away from a table she was working on wasn't hers. Don't ignore customers and then lie to them. It's not going to make anything OK and you're still not getting a tip (for doing literally nothing). It's funny, restaurant employees screamed and cried because they couldn't work when the pandemic started, and now that they have their jobs back, they don't want to work. I swear, the bigger Denver gets, the worse customer service gets. Don't wait tables if you don't want to actually wait tables. I'm a 20-30% tipper even if someone does the bare minimum because I remember how hard serving can be... just don't ignore your tables and lie!! Simple. This place is overrated and doesn't deserve the star I had to give it. Hopefully the other locations are more professional and actually take care of their patrons. Next time, I'm just going to...
Read moreOur experience was a bad one from the start at Syrup, mainly ruined by the hostesses. To start off, I thought they were very inappropriately dressed for not only Cherry Creek but just a professional environment in general. They asked us if we had reservations and when we replied no, their attitude was very rude. Albeit, it was Saturday morning and that is something we would do different in the future (assuming we ever go back). But they took our name and said it would only be about 20 minutes, which was fine for us, we weren't in a hurry. We waited on the sidewalk directly in front of the door for our name to be called. However, they never called our name. They called a similar sounding name which also started with a "B" but was not my name. After 45 min of waiting we finally went in to check on our status for a table to which they rudely said they called our name already and we must have not been out there. When I explained that she was clearly wrong because we were out there the whole time, we never left, which must have been evident to her because we sat directly in front of the door, the rudeness continued. We were seated shortly after that, but we never received so much as an apology! This basically tainted the whole experience. Our waitress was fine, but the food took 45 min to get to our table. And then we also had trouble getting our check. It was also rather stuffy in the restaurant, adding to the whole thing.
Overall, I gave it 2 stars because the food was very good but the...
